Fudge, a Cuckoo Clock and Flip Flops

Good Morning Company Girls! Well, if I'm looking at the calendar correctly, one week from today will be Christmas Eve. Seems like it really got here quickly this year, but I think I say that every year.  Time flies when you are having fun. ~smile~

I did get all the gifts wrapped/bagged and ready this week.  We will be celebrating our family Christmas on the evening of the 22nd this year.  Our daughter, SIL and little Clancy will be spending Christmas with their Oklahoma family this year.  I've never been one to be tied to a particular day, it's just whenever we can all be together.  Once kids marry, you pretty much have to be flexible in that area.

I've been working on wrapping and delivering my fudge this week too.  The wrapping is as much fun to me as the making of it.  You know, it's all about the presentation!!
It starts out as a rectangular  2 lb. block and is then wrapped in plastic

It is then placed in a cute box lined with cute tissue paper

The box is closed

One of my cute labels is applied

Ribbon is tied around it and it's ready for delivery
Now, wouldn't you be excited to get something wrapped that cute? ~just teasing~

I was thinking back this week on Christmas gifts that Hubby has given me and anytime I do that, one particular gift always comes to mind.  About 15 years ago he surprised me with  this Cuckoo Clock. It was probably the biggest surprise

I've ever had as a Christmas present.  Over the years he had heard me talk about how much I loved going to my Grandmother's as a child and listening to and watching her Cuckoo Clock.  He said it just occurred to him that I would probably love to have my own.  And, he was right!  I was so excited when I opened that box and saw the clock.  It has hung very happily in our house ever since that time and the "grans" love it.  Every time he cuckoos they turn to look. It is my most favorite tangible Christmas gift.

Our weather has just been so crazy! The first part of this week it was "bone chilling cold."  The wind blew and that just made it all the more cold.  Then we get up to 65 degree weather yesterday morning.  I decided it was a good day to pull out my new red flip flops. I had gotten them at the end

of the summer sale for half price and just assumed that it would be next spring before I would wear them.  But, how cool that I got to sport them during the Christmas season. I knew I had gotten a pedicure last week for a good reason. Even my toes were sparkling! ~chuckle~

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the greatest little quick "goodie" that you make in the crock pot.  Yep! that's right! It's Chocolate Peanut Clusters and I promise you they are to die for!  No joke! A friend of ours shared some with us earlier  this week and I had to have the recipe. When she
told me they were made in a cock pot, I couldn't believe it.  If you are interested, click on the link and make a batch.  They would make a great teacher, neighbor, or friend gift too.

I hope that none of you are getting your "tinsel in a tangle" this Christmas season.  May your days be merry and bright as we prepare for the greatest birthday celebration known to mankind.

Thanks Rachel for always being the "hostess with the mostess."

Love the cuckoo clock, my grandmother had one in her house while I was growing up and I LOVED it! What a treasure, your hubby did a good job!

  3. Why, yes, yes I would LOVE to get a package just like that!

And I think it's adorably sweet about your husband buying you that cuckoo clock. Sometimes guys really get it right...One year my husband got me an autographed baseball by my favorite childhood player -- George Brett!

  5. First I have to love the comment of not holding on to one special day...that is so true once the first gets married, adjust, adjust and adjust. We have Christmas with the married, whenever...she has three different onces she spends with her family, so when there is a place for us then we celebrate with them...it works fine and not stressful.

Your packaging is great!! Fun, fun, fun...and then flip flops...we had 75 degrees here this week.

    I love the clock...special husband.

Merry Christmas...you started my day with a smile!!

  6. That fudge looks wonderful!!

We have a cuckoo clock just like that. It was Todd's grandmothers. She lived to be almost 102 and immigrated from czechoslovakia. We haven't put it up because we want to wait till the little boys get a tad bit older. :)

Your presentation is fantastic, too! Really, I don't know who could turn a nose up at that lovely box. I know I couldn't. :)

65', huh? Enjoy it! Even in Atlanta it isn't that comfortable right now. And heaven knows I wont' be taking a picture of my toes any time soon!

Have a happy weekend and a lovely Christmas!

  11. That is a beautiful cuckoo clock! Brings back memories...
We were stationed in Germany with the Army when I was in the 3rd through 5th grades. The word was you came back to the states with a baby or a cuckoo clock. My parents still have their cuckoo clock. :) Where was yours made?
Your goodies look scrumptious! You are so togetha!!
    Have a blessed weekend!

  12. We do have much in common, you and I.

    1) I love MY grandmother's cuckoo clock and would love to own one now.
    2) "It's all about the presentation!" Even my fave colors this year are celery green w/ red. I'm a sucker for beribboned edible gifties!
    3) My toenails are red right now, too.

PS Can't wait to try those peanut clusters in the crock pot. YUM!
