Favorite Things on Friday

friday favorite things | finding joy

It's Friday and time for some Favorite Things and Company Girls!  What a combination! I didn't really have anything particular to post about this morning, so thought I'd join up with another sweet Rachel over at Finding Joy. I figured that my Company Girls might enjoy sharing in my favorite things list today.

I'm a "beautiful day kinda gal." I know that the weather should NOT play into our happiness but I can't help it, I'm just much happier when the sun is shinning brightly.  I love to watch it shine through my windows and cast it shadows throughout.  I always wonder about folks that do not open their drapes or blinds or lift their shades.  I just could not exist that way.

This is the neatest little devotional book I've ever owned.  It is what I would call "short, sweet, to the point and very profound." It by no means should replace one's time in God's Word but it is such a wonderful resource to add to our quiet time.  And, it's a wonderful gift!

Yes, blogging would rate as one of my favorite things!  Now, I have to admit that if it were not for memes, I would often be hard pressed to come up with an entry.  I do not see how folks blog everyday, for one, I don't see how they have the time and then I don't know how they find something to write about.  But, hey, that's not my business. ~grin~  Even just blogging about 3 times a week I have to be careful not to let it consume me.  I really had no idea what I was doing when I began blogging but it wasn't long before it all began falling into place and I began meeting some of the greatest gals in the world. Yes, I do love blogging!  And, to think that 5 years ago I didn't even know what the word meant.  How funny!

I have such fun creating table scapes for my dining room table.  This is so funny because just a few short years ago I didn't even know what that term meant either.  But, thanks to our local Garden Club and decorator magazines, I "caught on."  Now, mine are always ultra simple but I am just as proud as if they were "full of fuss."  The above is my latest creation for a summer look.  If I'm having dinner guests I add a couple of small vases of flowers to the mix and that "tops it off."

These are just a few of my favorites this Friday and I hope this post has caused you to think of some of your favorite things.  May your weekend be blessed with lots of sunshine!

  1. Sunshine makes everything better.

Your tablescape is lovely - simple is so much better than "full of fuss" in my eyes; too much visual activity and my mind shuts down. In fact, I go on overload after about half an hour in a museum!

  2. Oh, we are so alike!

I, too, feel much better and have a much better outlook when the sun is shining brightly. We just returned from 6 days in the Pacific Northwest ... where it's usually overcast. It's a beautiful part of the country, but there's no way that I could live there ... it would just be too depressing for me. ;-)

I too enjoy blogging (didn't have a clue when I started ... and am still learning as I go) ... but there are times when I need a meme to get me jump-started. No way could I come up with the ideas (or time) for daily posts ... at least not on a regular basis.

It seems that many of the bloggers I follow read that same devotional book ... I'm definitely going to have to get me a copy. ;-)

    Have a blessed weekend!

  3. You've hit my favorite things in one post ,Lea! Sunshine, blogging, and tablescapes! I sometimes put thought into my centerpieces than the menu, and I know it's time to quit when "fussing" takes over a simple arrangement.

PS I gave you an award today. I hope you'll accept it.

  5. Can you send some sunshine my way? It's cool and cloudy here. I have always wanted to read "Jesus Calling". Every time someone posts a little something about it, it truly speaks to my heart. I love blogging too, especially since it led me to you! You always put a smile on my face! Have a wonderful weekend.

  6. Table scapes are fun, I have done a few. Some people are amazing doing full table settings each week and they own a million dishes.
I do like a sunny day and we have many in Southern California but having it shine in on my furniture will often show dust! We are very dry and dusty here. I love blogging too and doing meme's are the best and I have meet so many wonderful people. Have a great weekend.

  7. I agree I have a hard time finding time to blog but I have enjoyed it. I've been surprised to run across the little communities like Coffee Girls where we can build these online friendships.

  9. I too love sunshine..enough that I have allowed it to fade my furniture...not good.

Blogging..didn't know what it was 2 years ago and now God has taught me so much through it and through my own writing on my blog...funny I think he tricked me into this.

I am reading one of Sarah Young's devotional books and have been so blessed.

    Fun post.

  10. I love a few of your favorite things; what fun! I love "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young and read it often. It always seems to hit me right where I need it. I love to blog too and yes, it can be consuming. I used to blog almost everyday until I went back to work full time. I really miss visiting many of my favorite blogs like yours on a more regular basis. But I'm on vacation this week. Woo hoo!

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie
