Monday Musings

It's Sunday evening, here I sit, computer in my lap and pondering yet another blog entry. This makes my 552nd entry. ~yea, me!~  It is rare for me to ever sit down to blog and not already have it pretty much prepared in my head.  And, often, when I have a "blog thought", I write it down in a notebook that lays near my computer.  I most often participate in blog memes (Miscellany Monday, Hodgepodge Wednesday, Friday's Letters, Daybook, etc) and that definitely helps to get my "creative juices" flowing and it's also good for blog growth.  We all link up and visit each other's blogs and leave "comment love."  Comments are a bloggers reward! ~big smile~

And, I have had several people ask me why I blog.  Why I started blogging and why I blog now are two different answers.  I really had no idea what I was doing when I started blogging.  I wanted to share a part of my life that might be enjoyed by my family and friends.  It wasn't long that I began meeting other bloggers and friendships were made.  Now, if you are not a blogger, you likely do not understand that.  But, you do develop friendships that are very dear through blogging.  I have been  blessed to meet 3 of my blogging friends in "real life."  It was so neat and I hope to add others to that list in the years to come. As I said, if you are not a blogger, then you likely do not "get it."

I always try to make my posts enjoyable for my readers.  I  am very careful about what I share.  I will never share certain things on my blog and do not read other blogs where the author shares wayyyyy to much information.  In my opinion, there are some things that are just NOT to be shared.  I am "real" on my blog and never want to paint the picture that all is "perfect" in my world.  For goodness sakes, that will only happen when I enter my eternal home. ~and you know that's the truth~ I imagine we could all share things that would "curl toenails" but, as I said, some things are not to be shared.~in my opinion~

You can ask any of my friends and they will tell you that I live with a camera in my hand.  I have always taken a lot of pictures, but now that I blog, I really take a lot.  I never know when I may see something that would make interesting blog fodder, so it is always close at hand.  I know that I could always use my phone, and I do occasionally, but I really prefer my camera.  I think pictures make a blog entry more interesting but I do think there is a happy medium in how many one uses.  But, that is just my personal preference.  Enough to keep it interesting but not enough to bore you.  Folks are generally breezing in and out when they read a blog and they likely only want to spend 2-3 minutes, so I try to remember that.

The topics that I write about vary.  My blog is a glimpse into my life and that involves my family, my faith, my friends, my travels and a little of this and that.  To me, that keeps it interesting.  The blogs I enjoy the most are the ones that are varied in content.  I particularly enjoy the more personal blogs where the author shares glimpses of their life as well.

Today is Monday and I generally always participate in "Miscellany Monday."  But, that was not working for me today, so I just sat down and began writing and the above entry was born. Now, you probably know more about me and blogging than you ever cared to know. ~big chuckle~ I just hope that I always leave you
"wanting more."  Until next time....

Have a wonderful week!

  1. That was interesting! I agree with you that the blogs where you are given at least a glimpse into the author's life are the best ... I follow several quilt blogs, and while I'm educated and inspired by the quilting posts, I'm very interested in the ones where they share some of their everyday life as well. I'm glad I found your blog!

  3. I'm so glad you freelanced today and wrote this post. I am on the same page as you. I am careful what I share and yet I do open my heart. But I'm always aware of the impact on those I love. I too carry my camera with me at all times. The children at school call me a photographer. :)

You are such a blessing and one I hope to meet in person one day.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

  4. Good morning! yes, I think you have to be a blogger to get it! My blog is more of a journal than an interesting place to visit for some I imagine, haha, but I definitely keep it real. At times my heart is poured onto the post as truthfully that is just me....I am an open book. And yet, MUCH of my life is never touched or penned...there are limits of course. I like Kathy have a few I follow for quilting tips and just to gaze and droll over possibilities, but I never comment and I am just a lurker, lol. I comment on the blogs where the people are real, the posts are interesting, the interest are shared, and the connection is there. LOVE your blog! Enjoy your day!

  5. Lea, this was a great post. As you are well aware, I always have a camera in my hand...and I am probably one of those guilty of sharing too many photos. But I do participate in a lot of photo blog meme's and that would be partially why. I'm working on this. My blog is suppose to be a bit of everything. One never knows what might be shared for the day. Loved reading this insight into why you blog.

  6. Very good, Lea and well written. I think there are times such as you had last night when we just need to write down our thoughts and share them. I know I'm a guilty one for sharing too many pics and I'm trying to work on that. LOL! Thanks for showing us a slice of YOU today. I happen to know there are layers we may never see.

  8. Lea, I am so thankful you blog. I have enjoyed getting to know you. One of the best things about blogging is the relationships I've formed. I have been able to meet a few bloggers in real life, and have been so blessed by the love, prayers and encouragement of them and others. I wish I took more photos! Mine are usually borrowed from friends or stock photos (gasp!), but they do dress up the blog nicely. Have a beautiful week Lea!

  9. I can't add anything but more blog love here. I'm sure you won't mind some repitition? I agree on all points. Been having charger problems and not enough motivation to order a new one yet. I know my blog could use more pictures and frankly, livelier content, but I'e been pursuing my love of quilting which I have found more satisfying than blogging.

  11. Great post, Lea! Thanks for writing this because there are times when I wonder why I blog. I'm coming up on my 5th anniversary of blogging and have decided to take a break for a time. Mostly it's because I have quite a few things I need and want to do and partly it's because I've drained a bit dry with the blog post ideas. Until I "met" you on your blog sometime this year, I participated in only one meme (Simple Woman's Daybook). I have started participating in others because of your blog. They are a good way to fill in the blank computer screen. Thanks for the encouragement.

  12. I am afraid I go way over the happy medium in posting pictures! The reason I do is because I print my blog out each year and it serves as a sort of scrapbook.

I also have my camera with me at all times :0
