Lea's Daybook, Friday, February 20th

It's time to link up with Peggy over at The Simple Woman and do a Daybook.  It's sharing my day with you in a whole lot of detail.  Hope you enjoy!
FOR TODAY

Outside my window...the sun is struggling to shine and looks like we're end for clouds and rain today.  Ugh! is what I say to that! I'm so ready for spring!

I am thinking...that the last 1/3 of building a house takes the longest.  There's just so much when it comes to finishing the inside.

I am thankful...that our church has called "one of God's finest" as our Interim Pastor.  We were like sheep without a Shepherd and I have no doubt that he is going to be just what we need during the time of transition.

In the kitchen...I've had a busy week in the kitchen.  I made the best pot of gumbo on Monday and then on Wed. I made a dish called "Crockpot Crack Chicken."  It has plain cream cheese, chipolte cream cheese, dry Ranch dressing and bacon pieces.  These ingredients are mixed together and spread over 2 lbs. of boneless, skinless chicken breasts and cooked.  I doubled the recipe so we had one meal and I froze 3 other containers.  It was so, so tasty and good!

I am creating...a week by week Shutterfly photo book of our new house construction.  I started with the day we signed the papers on the lot, two years ago.  I think it is going to be such fun to have this in the years ahead.

I am wondering...how all my decorators and my ideas are going to come together in our new house.  This is the fun, fun part to me and I can hardly wait to see it all come together.

I am reading...the Psalms, again.  What an amazing book!  I've read it time and time again and each time different scriptures "speak to me."  Gotta love the Word!!!

I am hoping...all 3 of my Grans will one day come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Savior and become all that the Lord would have them to be.  I pray daily for them and for their parents and for God's hedge to be around them for both their physical and spiritual protection.

I am looking forward to...to going to our daughter's next weekend and seeing Clancy play in his last Upward basketball game.  This is his first time to ever play basketball and he has done so well and really enjoys it.  Guess he can be a little cowboy basketball player.~too cute~

I am learning...that instead of fretting, to lay it at the feet of Jesus.  No matter how big or how small, HE cares about every aspect of our life.  I should know this by now but somehow I still have to be reminded. ~slow learner~

Around the house...the boxes are piled up higher and higher.  I have made a lot of headway and probably have about 60-70% of the packing and going through process done. Of course, there are many things that will not be able to be packed until just before we move.  In the next two months I will finish going through what's left and am just so thankful that I have had this much time.  I cannot imagine doing what I have done in 1-2 months. It might have caused me to have a nervous breakdown. ~big chuckle~
I am pondering...the miracle of our little Andi Kate and the miracle of birth.  Oh, my goodness, she melts my heart!  FYI - all is going well.  She still loves sleeping during the day. ~not good for Daddy and Mommy's nights~  But, she is only 9 days old.

A favorite quote for today...I love this by Confucius
Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.
 ~so true~

One of my favorite things...is clean sheets.  If it wasn't so time consuming I'd change our sheets everyday.

A few plans for the rest of the week...today includes some errands, and picking up the Princess from school.  Tomorrow will include some more packing and new house "stuff."

A picture worth sharing....

Is that not the most pitiful looking little fella?  Bless his sweet heart, he got sick with an awful stomach virus last Friday evening and it did a number on him.  And, he had pink eye in both eyes.  On Monday he told his Momma that it was the worse day of his life.  It just broke this CiCi's heart.  He missed 3 days of school but I'm pleased to report that he is back to his sweet smiling self and feeling almost 100% now.

  2. Yes having the opportunity to S L O W L Y sort through all of your stuff to pack I am sure took a big load off of that burden. Soo funny to have read what you wrote about sheets...I just stripped the sheets off our bed this morning and popped them in the washing machine and thought the same thing. Getting into a bed at night with fresh clean sheets always puts such a big smile on my face. it's my Friday morning ritual. Too bad it's only once a week. Glad Clancy is feeling better. A couple of my grands had that nasty stomach bug too and were pretty sick with it. Enjoy your week-end!

  3. Lea, I so enjoyed reading this today and could probably comment on every point, but I'll spare you that. If you and T can get off early enough to stop in Shreveport next weekend, let me know and we can have you come by here, meet for a coffee or a bite to eat on your way. Just a thought. Stay dry and warm until winter plays itself out. I do have to comment on that precious Clancy. That little face will break a grandmother's heart for sure.

  6. Your grans are blessed to have you to pray for their salvation. Lately I have felt the weight of praying for my own children's salvation. Something I have to trust God for.... We've had the stomach bug going around our house since Sunday- it's been a long week!

  7. I love clean sheets but changing sheets on a king-sized bed for someone with little bitty short arms is a pain. That picture of Clancy is a heartbreaker for sure ... poor little guy. Glad he's feeling better.

  9. Glad your little grandson is on the road to recovery. It seems like stomach bugs and flu are going around our neck of the woods again (we knew a whole lot of folks that were sick around Christmas time, then sickness started making the rounds again just recently) I could comment on so much of what you said but lets just say, "I am learning" as you are, have a great weekend

  10. Aw, that glum face tells it all. Poor little fella. Hope he's all better by now. Clean sheets are on my list of loves. Oprah has hers changed every other day; must be nice, huh? If she had to do it herself, I'm thinking maybe once a week like the rest of us. Can't wait to see more pictures of that new baby Andi Kate.

  11. I like when you answer questions about yourself, and your thought processes. You have a heart of gold!
I like clean sheets too, and smiled when I thought of you wishing to change them everyday:)
As for the little guy, that picture melted my heart this morning. So happy that he is feeling better.
