It's Back to School

Some schools in our area are in their 2nd full week of school and that means that their teachers went at least 4-5 days ahead of that.  Why school starts as early as it does is beyond me.  What ever happened to starting after Labor Day and getting out around Memorial Day.  I mean, it worked for decades and kids received great educations and they had a full 3 months of summer to have fun.  It just doesn't make sense to me but I didn't get any say so in the matter. ~shucks~  I could sure have shed some light on things.

And, something else, why can't ALL schools, public and private begin at the same time and get out for summer at the same time and have all the same holidays.  I do know that in some states that is the way it is and why it isn't in all states is beyond me.  My DIL teaches in the public system and our oldest granddaughter goes to a private school and their school schedules are totally different. Then our daughter teaches in Oklahoma and ALL their schools in the state are on the same school schedule.~smart folks~

Meanwhile, I have 4 adorable Grans that have started their school year in the past week.

My little Princess and Sweetheart.  Hanna Beth started 3rd grade and Andi Kate is  PreK-3.  It doesn't seem possible that Hanna Beth is almost 9 years old and Andi Kate is a big 3 1/2 years old.

And, this little guy started PreK this week.  He loves everything about  it.  It's a very structured program and his Momma was afraid it might take him a little while to adjust but he seemed to just roll with it and enjoying it.  Makes his CiCi very happy that he is happy.  Coleman will be 3 on the last day of this month.

Then there's this big guy, in the 4th grade and will soon celebrate his double diget  birthday, 10 years old.  He's loving school and even told me that he is sitting next to a really cute girl in his class.
~be still my heart~

I pray my Grans and my daughter and DIL will have a great school year!

  1. We have questioned the same thing about all systems starting at the same and having the same breaks. It makes it very difficult on all concerned. Our system does start early. This is our third week in school. The one benefit is the breaks throughout the year, but I know a lot of people would love to see a later start.

  2. D saw the pictures of Coleman yesterday on FB and made the comment that he has to be the cutest and happiest little boy. He said, "He just makes me smile." Exactly! What a blessing all four of your Grans are and each just as special in their own way. Those girls are opposite beauty dolls for sure.

  3. I'm with you...I don't know why we have to start so early and go so late. We do at least always get out before June 1. Adorable grands!

  5. I have pondered the same thing too, Lea, things would be so much simpler for families. You have very sweet grandchildren, I know your prayer for a great year for them is most appreciated by them.

  8. I completely agree with you on the school scheduling matters. Why can't they all get on the same page, uh, I mean, calendar!

All your grands look so bright and eager to enjoy school!

  9. My two grands in TN have been back in school for a month already. Their schedule is way different...they get a whole week off later in the fall, the long break between Christmas and New Years and another week off in the spring...a few other days as well. They get out at the end of May I think. It works well for them! Your grands are so adorable!

  10. All your grands are adorable, but oh my that littlest one would be hard to say no to : ) My daughter has been back in her classroom a couple of weeks. She was not happy they had students reporting on a Monday this year. Normally they ease the kids in by starting on a Tuesday or Wednesday. She has a nice class this year though, so she's grateful for that.
