Wednesday Medley

1.  With the holidays coming, what is your most essential appliance to help you prepare for the celebrations?

It would be my oven(s). I think everything, except the gravy and the congealed salad) that I am preparing for our Thanksgiving has to be baked/cooked in the oven.  Thank goodness I have two ovens and I really do not know how I survived almost 35 years of only having one oven.

2.  What is your favorite (clean) word?

It's two words, Have Mercy.  I don't know that I've ever thought about it being my favorite, but I say it all the time.  So, that indicates that it must be my favorite I suppose.  There are just so many things to "have mercy" over today.

3.  Are you a good judge of character?
I've gotten much better as I've gotten older.  In my younger years I was often easily fooled and then so shocked when I found out otherwise. I tend to want to give benefit of the doubt and that's okay up to a point but you can't let folks pull the wool over your eyes.

4. What is the last thing you took a picture of? Can you share it with us?

I was going to post this on FB as my first "touch" of Christmas but I didn't.  I was at Wal-Mart yesterday and saw these gorgeous Christmas cactus and decided I wanted to get a couple.  I'm hoping they will be very happy in this window and "show their stuff."

5. Tomorrow, November 15, is Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day.  How do you intend to celebrate?
Humm............I do not have anything to clean out as I am a fanatic about a "clean" refrigerator.  No joke, leftovers are cleaned out as soon as they are no longer safe to eat and items that have outlived their "safe date" are thrown out quickly.  But, I suppose I can give it a quick look over just to make sure it's clean and orderly tomorrow.

6. Tell us something random about your week!

Coleman has been working on being potty trained for the past couple of months.  He was 3 on August 31st and his nursery school workers introduced him to the potty shortly after school started.  He got the "tee-tee" part figured out about 2 weeks ago but has shown no interest in the "poo-poo" part.  That is until yesterday.  He decided yesterday afternoon that he wanted to give it a try on the potty and he was so excited afterwards.  He called his Poppa and me to share his achievement.  I guess that might have been TMI but it's a big deal in our family.  This little guy is our last one to grow out of diapers. He's a big boy now.

And, I leave you with this..........

  1. I SO wish I had a double oven! When my best friend lived here, we always baked at her house together because she was so fortunate to have two. I hope you woke up to a beautiful "hill" of snow this morning! It's just gorgeous!

  3. Loving the story about Coleman! Way to go big guy!
If I ever redo my kitchen again it WILL have double ovens. That should be mandatory in all kitchens. LOL
Have a blessed and beautiful day!

  4. 1. With the holidays coming, what is your most essential appliance to help you prepare for the celebrations?
YES, my oven for sure! Oh I wish I had two ovens! Lord knows with the size of my family and them eating with me every Sunday I have needed it! Praise the Lord for Electric roasting pans, crock pots and I love my instapots. Those items at times has surely been a time saver in the kitchen.

    2. What is your favorite (clean) word?
Well mine is "Have mercy". LOL! My little 2 1/2 year old grandgirl was saying it recently. LOL!

    3. Are you a good judge of character?
I surely do think age helps us with this. But yes, though I miss it at times I would say I am a pretty good judge of character. More so with women as I have taught women for 21 plus years now and believe me....I've had to pray for discernment many times.

    4. What is the last thing you took a picture of? Can you share it with us?
My beautiful sunflowers! I am so happy with them.

    5. Tomorrow, November 15, is Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day. How do you intend to celebrate?
Cleaned mine out yesterday matter of fact. Made some homemade chicken, veggie and rice soup so that will remain in there for a few days. It's always better a day later anyway.

    6. Tell us something random about your week!
Good job Coleman! Doesn't that make you so proud. My daughter stared working with my grandgirl Adalynn. She tuned two in April Now she is completly potty trained and she gets so excited too that she LOVES to tell us allllllllll about it! LOL!

Have a great rest of the week Lea and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  7. There is no such thing as TMI in blogland! Congrats on having a Big Boy!!! With my nieces and nephews...we had the whole family clapping and celebrating!

  8. First of all, that sweet boy! He is so "stinkin'" cute! So pardon that pun! Congratulations! It is truly a big deal and I remember how proud they were of those. It does remind me of something our daughter overheard Brady say in the bathroom one day. "Come on outa there poop! Don't stay in there by yourself!" 😂 That is a beautiful stove you have there. I too have a double oven, but an older model and it isn't convection. Now the Christmas cactus! Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to go get one today. So pretty. I also say Have mercy a lot these days or Oh mercy! So true there's too much to say about that.

  9. Your Christmas cactus are gorgeous! I want to get one for my house...do they need a lot of light?

  10. It would be very nice to have a double oven, especially when cooking a big meal. I have three Christmas cactus in my office and two of them have already bloomed beautifully (they do this every year). Yesterday I noticed that the third one has buds all over AND the other two are starting to bloom AGAIN! I do nothing to them, other than ignore them...they evidently love the window where they sit and go on very little water.

  11. Are Christmas Cactus easy to grow (keep alive) ? I do well enough with succulents so maybe I could manage a cactus. ha. Excellent news on the Potty training front!

  12. Well, potty training IS a big deal and not TMI when it's a 3-year old!! Good for him! Thanks so much for joining in on the Medley! If I had two ovens, I wouldn't need a roaster, I guess, but it works for me in my one-oven kitchen! I keep my 'fridge cleaned out too, though I did notice one of the shelves could use a wipe down. Happy hump day!

  21. We are decorating for Christmas today and we are all excited. Yay for potty training, such a huge milestone and one of my biggest parenting hurdles. It's not my favorite! My word I use all the time is "hot second" . I'll be there in a hot second. I don't know what I say it!
