Wednesday Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

So glad that Joyce has these questions for us as I've not been able to come up with any blog fodder in a few days.  So, at least this means I'll have a post on Wednesdays.  Thanks Joyce!

1. What's something you resolved to do this year? Have you done it?
Well, not sure I resolved to do anything this year.  Now, does that make me a slacker?  Oh, I hope not.  I always hope to be a better person, let the little things slide, enjoy the big things and not get the two mixed up.  And, to never forget the good Lord knows exactly where I am, and what I'm going through.  I just simply need to trust HIM.

2. Where do you go to find quietude?
My house provides me with the perfect amount of quiet that I often need.  I'm not a person that has to have noise of any kind. Sometimes it is just awesome to have the peace and calm of quiet.  And, we have such a beautiful backyard with the pond and it's all visible from the windows across the back of our house.  That view enhances the quiet.

3. A friend asked this question on her Facebook page and said I could borrow it for the Hodgepodge...you're only allowed to buy 5 things at the grocery store, and all must start with the first letter of your first name. Whatcha' buying?
1 - Lemonade
2 - Lite Ice Cream (that was sneaky wasn't it)
3 - Lettuce
4 - Lifesavers
5 - Lasagne

4. The television show Survivor, the Gloria Gaynor song 'I Will Survive', survival mode, survival of the fittest...pick one and discuss.
Well, I'm going with the song, 'I Will Survive.'  I have to sing this to myself pretty much everyday at this point.  The first couple of weeks, not so much, but the fun has worn off and I've cleaned and cleaned, organized and organized and cooked and cooked.  And, I am missing my "peeps" something terrible.  I'm such a social being and phone visits, Facetiming and texts are just not the same.  But, I WILL SURVIVE!!!!

5. Share a favorite quote or saying about strength.

14 Of The Most Powerful Quotes On Strength & Courage

I thought this was most appropriate for this time we're in.  I'm quite sure that all of us, no matter how much we have disliked this time, can say that we have learned so much.  And, much of what we have learned has and will make us stronger.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Clancy went on his first turkey hunt this past weekend and scored really BIG!  His Dad prepared the meat and his Mom fried some of it for their dinner that same night.  He is still enjoying the memory and can hardly wait to go again.
This is the longest we have ever gone without seeing our daughter and her family and we're chomping at the bits to remedy that.  Our March trip had to be cancelled due to "the virus."  We're hopeful they will get to come here the very first of June. And, it's also the longest I've gone without visiting my Dad in 20 years.  He has handled the isolation really well and I'm so thankful.  But, I personally think with certain restrictions that they should be able to have at least immediate family visits.  But, no one asked me but they should have. ~chuckle~

  2. Stephanie here from the hodgepodge and our blog Lolinministry. Not having resolutions definitely doesn't make you a slacker! I don't think I ever do resolutions! And way to go Clancy! That's an awesome score!

  3. Well, I haven't organized anything...so many of my friends have..I am blaming it on all the rain. I tell my friends I need sunshine to begin organizing and cleaning out the closet but then when the sun does peep out I run outside to enjoy it for a few hours.
    Way to go Clancy!

  4. No resolutions here either. Congratulations Clancy. Nice harvest. Lea, I do not have to have noise either. Matter of fact, prefer the quietness, especially in the mornings. I have a friend that as soon as her feet hits the floor in the mornings her television comes on as she likes the noise. That's a big fat NO for me. Give me quiet! I've done a little organizing but nothing to what I would like to do. But, I sure have done more cooking and baking it seems. Have a good rest of the week . Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  6. Knowing how difficult this time is for the "social" members of my family, I understand how you must be feeling. Being one who is more than content being alone, I am not bothered by not getting out and about at all. I am concerned that I may get too comfortable with it, though. Like you, we are more than ready to cross some state lines and get some hugs.

  7. From your blog I would say you are the last person to be a slacker! I am so sorry you haven't been able to see your Daddy. That has to be so hard. That sure is a big turkey. Bet it was delicious.

  9. Aww! I hope you get to visit your family soon, Lea, I think being separated has been the hardest thing to deal with!
I had to smile seeing Clancy with his first turkey, my sons are hunters too, and they eat what they kill, my daughter also likes to hunt, dh and I are on~lookers, ~smile~

  10. Wow that turkey looks huge! It is hard to be separated from our grands and no the online visits are not the same, but I'm so grateful to have them. My mom is still in her own house, but has been there alone now since the social distancing started. My brother takes her groceries and I play cards with her once a week via FaceTime which she thoroughly enjoys. Still she is lonely and in NJ and going to be 90. I don't know when we'll feel like it's safe for her to venture out. Stay well!

  12. Congrats to your hunter on that great catch! I enjoyed your answers and am right there with you regarding the first two weeks being easy and each one since getting harder. It is definitely time to loosen things up while still being sensible and cautious.

  14. What a fun post! I will survive...we will survive. Indeed. But I'm with you, the novelty of this stay at home restriction has long worn off. I miss my peeps, too. Although, I have probably Facetimed more with my 9 year old grand over the past month than I have in years.

  15. I am glad your dad is doing okay. I think it is really hard on older people--hard on everyone but hard on the elderly AND the teens! I'm with you- I Will Survive...but it will be a different kind of'coming out' when this is over (which I pray is soon). Hugs- Diana

  16. My husband and son are big turkey hunters. They won't let me go because you have to be REALLY still and quiet...LOL!!! Maybe I need to start singing I WILL SURVIVE because lately I've been having my doubts:) So sorry you haven't been able to see your dad. We can't see my MIL either and my dearest, dearest uncle can't see his family. We know it's for the best but it's hard on them. Like you I have missed being out and seeing friends...even strangers in Wal Mart!!!! And my poor sweet granddaughter is one of the most social beings on the planet and has missed her friends (esp. her best friend) so, so much. As you said though, I believe we have all learned many things through all this. Sad thing is too many will forget once things get back to "normal".

  17. Omg I Finally Got Helped  !! I'm so excited right now, I just have to share my testimony on this Forum.. The feeling of being loved takes away so much burden from our shoulders. Luckily I was directed to a very powerful spell caster Dr Emu who helped me cast a spell of reconciliation on our Relationship and he brought back my wife and now she loves me far more than ever.. I'm so happy with life now. Thank you so much Dr Emu, kindly Contact  Dr Emu Today and get any kind of help you want.. Via Email emutemple@gmail.com or Call/WhatsApp +2347012841542
