Wednesday's Superhero Hodgepodge

From this Side of the Pond

It's Wednesday and here's the Hodgepodge...........Thanks so much Joyce!

1. Expect the unexpected on From This Side of the Pond. Here's my x-ray question...when was the last time you felt like Superman? What's your superpower? Explain.
Well, pretty much ever since this whole pandemic started.  I usually have household help but have not had any since this started.  Even with her help I still do household tasks everyday.  So, without her help, I have done it ALL, every week.  I developed myself a plan as to how I would tackle all of it, worked my plan and I've accomplished it each week.  I've sure felt like Superwoman! ~grin~  My superpower is that I definitely know how to develop and work a plan and I'm highly organized.  So, now you know. ~laugh~ And, never forget, that can be a disadvantage as well.

2. Are you a fan of the 'superhero' type movies? If so what's your favorite?
Not at all, really know nothing about any of them.

3. Have you postponed or cancelled a trip to the dentist in recent weeks, and if so when do you think you'll feel comfortable going back? How about other routine medical procedures?
I had just seen our dear dentist friend just before this all broke loose, so I'm good in the dental department.  I have had to reschedule my annual dermatology appointment and my annual ophthalmology appointment.  They aren't even rescheduling until our state opens back up and then they will call us and reschedule.  I hope it will be sooner than later.

4. What's something that makes you feel youthful? Something that makes you feel 'not so youthful'? Tell us why.
My energy.  I feel like I am still pretty energetic for almost 68 years of age.  I have always tried to take care of myself, eat right and do a moderate amount of exercise. And, I feel like it has paid off for me as I've aged.  Now, there are times that I am bending and stooping and I'm not quite as quick to get up and down as I once was and that's when I feel 'not so youthful.' ~no joke~

5. I feel compelled to include some sort of corona related question in the HP these days. What's the strangest thing you've seen in relation to the virus? Something that really struck you as odd, made you stop and think, 'Dorothy we're not in Kansas anymore?'

10 Best Surgical Face Masks to Reduce the Spread of Germs | Man of ...

These are the type of masks that I see on folks regularly.  I happened to have had a whole box of the ones pictured above when this pandemic hit.  And, I wear them when I go to the grocery store with my nitrate gloves.  Well, I've seen quite a few folks  just riding around town in their car with their masks on.  I've seen it several times and I find it so amusing.  The other thing  I see a lot is folks with their mask pulled down under their nose.  I'm like, why are you even wearing it.  Bless 'em!  And, of course, there are now some of the cutest masks and since I figure I will need them later, I've order myself some "cute" ones.  I mean, if I have to wear them, they might as well be cute. ~smile~

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Okay ladies, feel my pain here!  Our governor has extended our isolation until May 15th.  Most of us felt as though we would be "set free" this Friday, May 1st.  Talk about disappointed!  I was just sure that I would be getting this hair of mine coiffed within days.  And, what adds insult to injury is that I was due to have my hair trimmed and colored on March 16th which was 5 weeks since my last visit.  I normally go every 4 weeks but for some reason I couldn't go my regular week.  So, on May 15th, when our salons can open on a limited basis, it will have been 12 weeks since I have seen my stylist.  So, I'm thinking I may resort to one of these cute bandana caps ( pictured above)  in the meantime.  I saw them on Facebook and thought they might be my salvation.  But, on a positive note, I will have lots of options with what type style I want and I am seriously considering not coloring my hair.  I've not seen this much of my roots (auburn with what looks like about 50% gray)  in 25 years and I'm not sure it is all bad.  I will definitely not color it until I can see more of what it would look like a la natural.  I mean if I wake up one day and decide I don't like it then I'll just call my stylist and go get it colored.  I'll keep you posted as I go along but from here until the 15th, it is what it is, like it or not.

  1. I remember your natural hair color and it was beautiful and am sure it will gray nicely. My last appointment was March 6 and my hairdresser has changed the new date twice. I feel more sorry for him than I do myself. My roots are gray but it's not looking too bad, but style wise, there is none. We may all have new looks after this is over. As I was writing this, I got a text message from my hairdresser moving my next appt to May 21. Bless his heart!

  2. Fortunately, having shorter hair will help you grow out your color faster. My hair was last highlighted and trimmed on March 4th, however, it grows fast. I have a feeling I will end up with really long, dark blonde, hippy-style hair by the end of summer. Ha ha!

  3. I have a hair appt scheduled in early May. Things are reopening here, but so far not salons. I go to a very small salon, and am generally the only one there when I go, so think I'll feel comfortable returning if they reopen shortly. I don't have pretty gray so am definitely doing something about these roots when I can. I'm excited you're going to see your littles! Safe travels and stay well!

  4. I gave up on color a few years ago and it's funny that my hair is actually darker than it was when I was coloring. I had highlights done to help it grow out. Keep us posted!!

  5. I don't color my gray hair but I keep it short,
(that is when I can get a haircut and I need one).
Our Missouri Governor has declared openings for
some places. We will see how this goes.
    Good luck on your openings.

  6. I don't like superhero movies either:) I have masks and wear them when I grocery shop. My hair is in SUCH need of help. Nobody sees it but the Hubby and he doesn't even notice, wink. SO... one day soon, we can get our hair done and be set free! I am looking forward to that day and won't take it for granted. Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!

  7. Lea, it's definitely a strange time! My last haircut was February 28. I got it cut extra short so it would last longer, but it grows fast. And I always cut a friend's hair, and I cut it extra short in February. We might need to order some of those bandana caps, too!

  8. I see drivers alone in a car with their masks on a lot when I take my walk. Stay healthy, Lea!

  9. Auburn with a little gray or silver sounds beautiful. I have been growing out my color (highlights) for about 8 months now. Haven't had a haircut since January...boo! But when I finally get to have one it will be hard for me to not have them cut the rest of the color off.
I used to have help around the house when I worked but have been doing it all for about 6 years now. And have become a lot less meticulous! Ha! I am midway through spring cleaning now and want to have our carpets cleaned and windows (exterior) as soon as I get the downstairs cleaned.
Both my husband and I have cancelled dental cleanings since the outbreak of the virus. Never like going to the dentist anyway. Not sure when we will make appointments again.

  10. Omg I Finally Got Helped  !! I'm so excited right now, I just have to share my testimony on this Forum.. The feeling of being loved takes away so much burden from our shoulders. I had all this but I made a big mistake when I cheated on my wife with another woman  and my wife left me for over 4 months after she found out..  I was lonely, sad and devastated. Luckily I was directed to a very powerful spell caster Dr Emu who helped me cast a spell of reconciliation on our Relationship and he brought back my wife and now she loves me far more than ever.. I'm so happy with life now. Thank you so much Dr Emu, kindly Contact  Dr Emu Today and get any kind of help you want.. Via Email emutemple@gmail.com or Call/WhatsApp +2347012841542
