Wednesday Hodgepodge - Roller Coaster Style

And, I've missed linking up with Joyce and all the Hodgepodgers the past couple weeks.  I've become quite the "blog slacker" as of late, but, other things vying for my time.  Maybe you won't give up on me and will enjoy stopping by whenever I do post.  For now, here's my answers.................

1. Monday, August 16th was National Roller Coaster Day. Are you a fan? Did you celebrate? Last place/time you rode a roller coaster?

I had no idea there was such a day but, even if I had, there would definitely not have been a celebration on my part.  I.am.NOT.a.fan.  If I remember correctly the last time I rode one was my Senior year of high school and that was a l-o-n-g time ago.  There is something called 'motion sickness' and I don't think I need to say more.  Our oldest two Grans will ride them "until the cows come home."  They will get off and get right back in the line to ride again.  Ughhhhhh!!!

2. Tell us about a time in your life where it felt like you were figuratively riding a roller coaster.

The first thing that came to my mind was in 2011 when my Daddy was diagnosed with Guillian Barre Syndrome.  Oh, my goodness, what a roller coaster ride! He was 80 years old and all statistics were against him surviving it.  Butttttt, the Lord was not finished with him.  It was a very long hospital stay in a hospital 120 miles from where we live and a then to a nursing facility for 6 months and then he was able to move into the assisted living facility where he still resides.  It was truly a miracle and one I did not know if either of us would survive.  Roller coaster would be a great description of that time.

3. Favorite treat to eat at an amusement park or state fair?

It has been a long time since I have had roasted corn but it is sooooo good.  I think my last was at a fair when our kids were in high school.

4. Are you easy to get along with? Elaborate.

Hummmm............what an interesting question. I would say that I am and for sure, I try to be and want to be.  I'm very outgoing, love people and thoroughly enjoy having a good time.  I can be highly opinionated but I can usually respect a differing opinion, even if I know my opinion is right. ~big chuckle~  Bottom line, I give getting along my best shot and hope that others view me as easy to get along with.  Hope that made some sense..........

5. Something on your calendar to see-do-read-accomplish or just enjoy before month's end?

I decided this year that our Christmas cards would be addressed (both to and from), and stamped by September 1.  I did not even send cards last year because I simply felt too rushed to get them done.  That's when I decided to get a very early start this year.  I never use the envelopes that come with the photo cards anyway, so I ordered the red envelopes that I generally use and went to work.  Now, all I have to do is get the photos lined out for them, order the cards, stuff them and seal them.  I feel way ahead of the game this year!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I know that you are likely just as I am, sick and tired of Covid!!!  Would we have ever thought that we would be facing such a surge in this illness?  I just assumed that the worst was behind us but, boy, was I wrong!  Hubby and I have both been vaccinated and I imagine we'll take the boosters  Yes, we do live in a free land and everyone can decide for themselves regarding taking the vaccine.  I wonder if the media would quit cramming it down our throats if the "non takers" might reconsider. Let's all continue to pray that we can see an end to this pandemic very SOON!

And, I leave you with this................

  1. Amazing about your Christmas cards! I am impressed. We have stopped sending cards, generally, but I admit I love to get them!

  2. I love sending cards and I send many of them. I usually wait till November but that would be great to have them done so early.

  3. As hard as that time was in your life when your dad was struck ill, the Lord definitely got you through it and that's a testimony of encouragement to the rest of us as we weather hard times. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I love your blog posts, no matter how often they come. I agree about the vaccine messaging from the media and govt. I think they would get more compliance with positivity instead of the gloom and doom. Have a wonderful week.

  5. Yes, I am ready for the booster, too. The paper this morning said 8 months and that means October for me. Flu shots are being given at Publix so I will get that one soon, too. It is fun reading about roller coasters today, and the carnival foods. Yum! xo

  6. I am so impressed with the cards : ) August has been so very full and isn't over yet, so I haven't thought about Christmas at all yet. Time flies though, so I guess I should. Yes this latest surge is worrisome, particularly with cases arising in the vaccinated. One of our friends was just diagnosed with Covid, fully vaccinated, but he has significant symptoms. I agree that perhaps the 'push' to vaccinate is not having the desired effect. Have a nice week!

  7. You're always so organized. We have our family pictures scheduled for the end of October, that's when I plan to make our Christmas card. Thankfully, I can add names and addresses from my Minted address book, and get them back to assemble within a week or so. I like to mail everything out (including packages) over Thanksgiving weekend, that way there's no lines at the post office.
