1. My "Girlfriend Getaway" is this Thursday and that means packing. Ugh! I started getting things together yesterday and I am bound and determinded that I am only going to take ONE suitcase. I mean, we're only going to be gone 4 days and 3 nights.
I've decided that if I would settle for a very " natural" look, that would reduce my baggage by 1/3. No joke! Just my makeup, skin care, and hair "stuff" takes way more room than it should. But, it's very doubtful that I'm going to settle for a "natural" look at this point, so I'll just keep packing and quit complaining about it.~smile!
2. I love having the ability to send greeting cards via the internet.(not e-cards, but real "snail mail" cards) There are some great sites where you pick out your card, add a note to it if you so desire, sign it, address it and then they mail it on the date you request. I mean, how much easier does it get. I love that I can sit right here on my computer and pick out a card rather than standing at a card counter in some store forever. And, I do all my birthday greetings for a particular month all at one time and then do not have to think about it again until the next month. Now, if I want to send another type card to someone I just go online and do it at that time. I use Hallmark's website most of the time but there are several to choose from. Yes, there's no more of this for me.
3. I always look forward to filling the shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child at this time of year. Our church has participated in this ministry for many years and if you do not know what I'm talking about, then you need to check it out here. It does not have to be done through a church, it can be done individually as well.
Knowing this is the only Christmas that these children will receive just adds to the joy, and, to think of the witnessing opportunity it affords those distributing these boxes is awesome. Franklin Graham is to be commended on such a wonderful ministry that is impacting lives for eternity. I look forward to the day that my Grans will be old enough to help me fill the boxes and learn the joy of giving.
4.I had such a special privilege this morning. My Dad preached at our church while our pastor was away. Even if I do say so, my Dad is one of the BEST! His message this morning was on heaven and
the special music was "A Heaven Medley." Well, ever since my precious Mom passed away, almost two years ago, I just cannot listen to music about heaven without getting very, very emotional. It is still very tender to me, so I was pretty much spent by the time my sweet Dad got up to preach. His sermon was entitled, "Our Forever Family in our Forever Home." Oh, my, the best sermon I've ever heard on heaven! What a comfort to know that my Mom and other family members are there in their "forever home" awaiting my arrival to my "forever home."
I love linking up to sweet Carissa at lowercase letters every Monday. It's such a fun way to be random and blog a "tad" about several things. Thanks Carissa, you're the bomb!

I know what you mean about packing - it seems you need another suitcase for your hair, makeup stuff :>)
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your girl getaway! The director of our tutorial went last weekend to, what I am assuming, is the same show and she said it was amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a smart way to do all your greeting cards...I totally need to do that, anything to get me more organized.
We are getting ready to do Christmas boxes. I love finding special things to fill them up, such a blessing. I even got the Christmas gift catalogue a few weeks ago. I totally want to buy someone some chickens or livestock or something!
Have an amazing trip, can't wait to hear about it!
Packing is never fun but it'll be worth the effort in a few days! I'm all about the natural look these days ;)
ReplyDeleteI love doing the shoeboxes every year! We've done them for a long time but it's way more special now that we have kids and can use it as a teaching moment. When Noah was 2, I explained to him that there were kids who don't have any toys and asked him if there was anything he wanted to give them to keep forever. Much to my surprise, he put his favorite toy airplane in the box. He has always been wise beyond his years in my eyes and has compassion like no other child I've ever met. Even his preschool teacher pulled me aside to comment on it! I love him so, so much!
How special that your dad preached at your church. I would have loved to have heard his message. It will be a glorious day when I am reunited with my forever family. I can wait though - lots of memories to make with my babies before I get to my forever home!
Hey I have that big red suitcase haha! But You sound much more organized... Even went I went to Europe for five weeks and left at 7:00 am, I didn't do my packing until the morning of the trip, haha!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE eCards! They're my favorite. And I also LOVE Operation Christmas Child...such an amazing organization. Touches my heart every year! I cannot wait to fill my boxes!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome your dad preaching! I love hearing dad preach whenever I get the chance. It's been a few years though.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy making Christmas boxes. It's such a sweet thing to do. This year the kids will be picking out the little things to put in the boxes. I want them to be involved in giving. It's a good thing to start at an early age.
Have fun on your trip even though packing does stink. But the trip will be awesome!
Many blessing to you!!
~Dorcas
I relate to you on so many things! I totally agree about Operation Christmas Child...my daughter and I have participated in that, and it's so much fun to fill it with goodies. What a great ministry!
ReplyDeleteThe sermon on heaven sounds wonderful. In my case, it's my dad who's there, but as you know, he was a Baptist preacher too.
Have a wonderful time on your getaway!
I knew about e-cards, but never knew you could order snail mail cardds online! I'm gonna have to check that out! ~ We participate in Operation Christmas Child too. We'll be delivering our boxes next week! ~ Have fun on your trip!
ReplyDeleteOh, I so wish that I could have heard your dad preach -- especially about that. I'm sure that between the two of us, we could have filled a lake.
ReplyDeleteWill you please consider joining me on Tuesdays, starting next week, at my blog. I'm starting a new thing. My latest post explains it all. I just love you and would love to know more about you and your life.
Wow, thanks for the info about the greeting cards. I always remember birthdays ... I just never seem to be able to go select a card, buy it, sign it and get it in the mail in time! This will help! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThese were great...have a wonderful trip...and loved the one on your Dad the most...what a blessing!!
