Monday's Musings

Spring is in the air here in NE Louisiana and Hubby and I spent most of the weekend getting things "spiffied" up on the outside and I did a some spring decorating on the inside.

If you have never been invaded by Barn Swallows then consider yourself VERY lucky!  During the final phases of the construction of our new house, the swallows began greeting us.  They began building nests in any nook or cranny they could find.  We have never had any before and I did not know what an aggravation they can be and what a mess they can make.  Hubby cleaned up the residue left by them from last year and we're going to try a few tricks to keep them away this year.  Some folks say nothing will keep them away but we've had a few folks share their tips with us and we're going to try it.  They will be making their entrance in the next month and we'll be READY!!!

~~~~~~~~~
After we got the front porch pressured washed and cleaned I put out the spring decor.  I love, love these pillows and think they scream SPRING!  I don't know if you can tell but the front pillow has birds on it.
~~~~~~~~

After getting the outside spiffed up it was time to come inside and do a little Easter decorating.

I love Spring and Easter and I love bunnies and especially this bunny family sitting in the frilly greenery.

I found these gorgeous plaque stands, with the names of Jesus, a couple of years ago.  They make the perfect addition to my Easter dining table scape and share the REAL reason of Easter.
~~~~~~~~
In closing I wanted to share what my sweet blogging friend, Stephanie, is doing over at her blog.
This is her 10th year to do the Tea Culp and/or Mug exchange.  I've never participated but decided it was something I definitely wanted to do this year.  It's for bloggers and non-bloggers alike.  If you want more information, click on her link and find out all about it.
HAPPY  MONDAY!!!
  1. We had a family of swallows that took residence on the roof of our patio. They are a nuisance! I forget how the Mister got rid of them. But we were glad he did. Have a wonderful week, Lea.
  2. You have a lovely home. Enjoyed all your spring touches.
    Sorry about the swallows. I put a plastic snake in my eaves to deter doves from building on my porch. Don't know it that would work for swallows.
    Nice to meet you. Im coming over from Life and Linda.
  3. There were some beautiful tea cups in last year's exchange - what fun!
  4. If your "tricks" include using plastic snacks or owls, come up with a plan B. Birds used our snakes as a foundation for their nests. The only thing we have seen that works is to build a screen of chicken wire to close off the space. Your touches of Spring are so pretty.
  5. We had woodpeckers at one of our houses about 20 years ago. They nearly drove us mad! We tried EVERYTHING. What finally worked the best was when we moved!! (smile)
    Your Easter decorations, both inside and out, are wonderful!
  6. We had barn swallows in the country and they made the awfulest mess in our carport. I feel for you!
  7. I love hearing that you guys are having Spring like weather. It means that eventually it might make it's way up here. We still have 2 feet of snow in our front yard. Hiding Easter Eggs could get interesting this year, if the snow doesn't melt soon. ;) And good luck with those swallows.
  8. Hi Lea, I know these little swallow sweeties can be messy to say the least and what a job to remove all the debris. Spring is looking gorgeous around your home. Love all your special touches. Looking forward to the exchange too and this time I am giving a mug for the first time. It's always so much fun. Have a blessed day!! xo
  10. Good afternoong, lovely Lea! First of all, how incredibly sweet of you to share the exchange on your blog. I am so glad you're joining the fun and it's my heart's desire that you have a wonderful time!
    Your home is certainly embracing spring and oh, the soft colors make my heart sing! It's hard to picture spring in my home right now as there is still snow on the ground and we've had some terrible windy and cold days. I shall just have to enjoy your spring decor for now {{smiles}}
    Happy hugs to you
  13. I came over to see if I could find your patio all set up for spring. You have a wonderful home and I certainly hope that you prevail with the pesky birds. We once had them take over a multiple bird house and they dive bombed us all summer long. When the season was over, we took down the birdhouse. Yes, Maine is way up here and it is still very cold and we have plenty of snow. Some years are better than others. Some years, we are able to clean up the yard in March. Not this one. Have a wonderful Oklahoma visit.
