70 Years Young...............

WOW! Here I am!  I've made it around the sun 70 times and today I'm beginning my 71st time.  It sure did get here quickly.

I'm not sure how you are suppose to feel when you get to 70, but I still feel really good and, thankfully, I'm enjoying good health.  I do not take that for granted either because I know in the snap of a finger, it could change.

I've learned sooooo much in my 70 years and for me, the old adage, "we grow older and wiser" is definitely true.  My goodness, if I had known in my younger years what I know now............. But, time marches on and I'm definitely trying to look forward with anticipation, not backward with regret.

One of the most important things I realize more and more (even though I've known it all of my life) is that the things of this earth matter not, but the love of God, family and friends is my most valuable possession.  Yes, I've enjoyed many, many material possessions but not a one of them has ever brought me the happiness and joy that my Lord, family and friends have brought me.

I've never, ever pondered any birthday I've had as much as I have this one.  I've had so many thoughts, such as:
I've lived way more years than I have left to live for sure.
Have I lived a life that has made a difference?
How much longer will I live?
Will ill health befall me?
Will I be stricken with eye issues that alter or take my vision?
Will I one day be a widow?
Where will I spend my last earthly days?

And, there are other ponderings but I know one thing for certain, whatever befalls me, I serve a God that goes before me, preparing the way and when my time comes, I will spend eternity with HIM. What a blessed assurance!

My prayer is that for the time I have left on this earth I will be all HE would have me be, an encourager, a light in the darkness, a difference maker and live everyday to the fullest.

Here's to the awesome years I've had so far and to the years I have yet to live.
 He's been faithful and good!

NOTE: A big thank you to my DIL for obliging me with a 70th birthday shoot.  We had so much fun acting silly and making memories.

The Wednesday Hodgepodge

And, once again I have been "missing in action" when it comes to my blog.  But, it is what it is and that's about all I can say about it.  Today I'm glad to be back with the HP and answering the questions for your enjoyment.  ~chuckle~

1. Last time you drove more than 100 miles from your home? Where did you go?

I would love to say it was somewhere fun but, it was to see my Retina Specialist that is almost exactly 100 miles away, in Shreveport, LA.  Thankfully I received a good report and with my family history and eye issues, I get a little nervous each time I see my Ophthalmologist or my Retina Specialist. And, I'm always very thankful for a good report.  I do not take that for granted.

2. Something that drives you batty?

Hummmm......there's a lot but one is not being able to depend on folks to do their job.  I truly do not understand it.  If it's a part of your job and I'm depending on you to do it for me or one of my loved ones and you don't do it.  Well, let's just say that it truly aggravates the "daylites" out of me. It seems to be a worse problem than ever these days.

3. Do you feel like you're 'on track'? For what?

I do feel like I'm on track at this time and for me, that's a great feeling.  I generally have a mission most every day and I'm pretty productive as a result.  I do not fly by the seat of my pants.  I prefer a plan and to work that plan.

4. Your favorite car snack(s)?

I am a big fan of popcorn and always buy a big bag of pre-popped to take on the road. It's crunchy and salty and those two things equal a win for me when it comes to a snack.

5. Something you've done recently 'on the fly'?

Remember, I just stated above that I am a planner.  I can't think of anything I've done on the fly in recently.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

AND, just in case you have forgotten.......my BIG birthday week will begin on Friday.  That's right, one week from Friday I will start a new decade, 70!!! Yikes!  I do plan to celebrate for a week in some shape, form or fashion.  There will be a blog post forth coming..............

June Prime Purchases

Whee!! It's been really HOT and humid here in NE Louisiana.  That's all the more reason that shopping from the comforts of home is so appealing.  Here's my stash from June..............

Yoga Bootleg Capris

Okay gals, these are too cute and comfortable and you just might want to add them to your closet.  The fabric is a polyamide/spandex combination, wears and washes very well and is a very smart look.  They come in other colors as well.

AMAZON

TEE  SHIRTS

AMAZON

AMAZON

Tee shirts have taken on a whole new look and the new fabric is so soft.  I don't generally wear tee shirts except around the house but these are so nice looking that I may be caught wearing them out.  I see ladies in tee shirts all the time and they look so cute and put together.  But, I have just never felt they were  a very good look for me.

FOAM  LOOFAH  BATH  SPONGE

I bathe with a sponge and I've been using these for the past couple of years.  I just ran across them and decided to give them a try and I really, really like them.  And, I've even tied one of them with spa bar soap and given it has a gift.  They hold up extremely well.

AMAZON

SHARK  STEAM  MOP

Okay, if you do not own a steam mop or or in the market for a new one, I can't recommend this one enough.  I had an almost 10 year old Shark steam mop that needed replacing.  I generally steam mop our floors twice a year.  Yes, I steam mop our wood floors.  Now, I would NEVER repeatedly steam mop them but twice a year I don't think and hasn't thus far, hurt them.  In fact, this mop is recommended for wood floors.  I use nothing but distilled water, no cleaners at all on either the wood or ceramic floors.  There's just no clean like a steam clean.  The rotating pads on this one are sooooo much better than the stationary pad on my old one.  A huge improvement!

AMAZON

POWER XL  AIR  FRYER

I FINALLY got myself an Air Fryer.  I have listened to all the chatter about them for long enough and decided it was time for me to "jump on the air fryer train."  So far, I'm a fan.  Now, I have by no means used it for a wide variety of items but the ones I have used it on, I am VERY pleased!  I am so amazed at it's ability to bake the best boiled eggs you've ever seen and it does toast to perfection. And, it does a grilled cheese sandwich the BEST! I never knew all that could be done in an air fryer.  I got the mid size as I felt like it would be plenty big enough for Hubby and me.  And, I had to have a place to put it on the counter as I sure wasn't going to haul it out of the pantry every time I wanted to use it.  Well, it fit perfectly where our toaster use to be.  Win! Win!

AMAZON

GLASS  NAIL  FILES

Okay, ladies, have you ever used a glass nail file?  I really hadn't until my daughter told me about them when she was here a few weeks ago.  Well, I went straight to Amazon to order me one and here was a whole bunch of them, so attractive and in neat cases.  So, I ordered them.  They are so nice and I will and have already shared some of them with friends.  Just a real nice "happie."  And, talk about inexpensive!

AMAZON

BEDSIDE  TABLE  LAMPS

I have been looking for some new bedside tables for one of our guest bedrooms.  I saw these and loved that they had a touch button and a port for charging devices.  Plus they are so attractive and are just perfect in size and look.  And, so affordable.  The ones I had were too small, tall enough but too thin.  These are tall enough but wider dimensions for a much nicer look where I am using them.  I am very pleased!

AMAZON

And, there you go for this time. Maybe something struck your "fancy" and it is going in your cart as well.  Wishing you a beautiful week as we continue to celebrate being an American.
