Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @
lowercase letters

Wow! these Mondays roll around faster and faster and Carissa is always here with her Miscellany Mondays.

The grease behind the wheel......

Having a little Christmas fun

Hubby has been an agent with State Farm Insurance for 37 years and his office staff has always been a vital part of his success.  Yes, these gals, along with our son, make up Hubby's office staff.  They often refer to me as "Momma Lea" and that is quite alright.  I could definitely be their Mother and as they would quickly tell you, I often act like their Mother in handing out advice. ~chuckle~  And, Hubby refers to them as "the grease behind the wheel."  They are a "fearsome threesome" for sure.

Full to overflowing.........

This is one happy African Violet!  I don't know if it's because it likes the location in front of the window or if the Mark Roberts Violet fairy does his magic over him or if it's the tender loving care that I give him.  Hey, it doesn't matter, I am just very proud of  it and my paternal Grandmother gets all the credit for my interest in growing African Violets.  Maybe I can pass along this interest to my Princess one day.

Quick and easy......

If you are looking for a quick and easy treat for the holidays, look no further.  These Pretzel Turtles are so yummy and are a hit whenever they are served.  Click on the Recipe Tab at the top of this blog and it will be the first recipe you see.

Too funny.....

I was browsing through Pinterest the other evening and came across this quote and I laughed my head off.  I think we have all probably had times when we could have and wanted to say this to someone.  The smaller the town the more likely it is that you have found someone's nose in your business.  ~big grin~

Where is he........
I'm thinking that Hubby and I need one of these guys.  I have given both of our Grans an Elf on the Shelf but they are still a tad bit young to really "get into" him.  But, I know of folks that do the absolute most creative things with their elves and it would have to be so much fun for the kiddos.  I would have  enjoyed something like this when our children were little.  Our neighbor's elf has a FB page and I have the biggest time keeping up with him and his whereabouts.  Okay, I know, it is an elf, but remember it is a magical season. ~giggle~

Happy Monday to you!

  1. I had a good chuckle as I read your post. Love the Christmas socks and the girls who work at the office are too cute. I know what you mean when they look to you as a mama. I'm at that same age and the younger gals at work look to me that way too. And I don't mind a bit either. :)

Don't you just love Pinterest? And thanks for the recipe. I may just need to make some.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

  2. I was thinking about you this weekend and your fudge and turtles, etc. I have completely fallen apart this season. I have no teacher gifts, no gifts for my kids at Hartland (the party is tonight, by the way), no gift for my Secret Sister, (the reveal is tomorrow) and only a couple of trinkets for Chris. Aaaaagh! I even told Mrs. Neely that Mrs. Lea would have had all this done a month ago! I just can't seem to get my act together!

We have several friends with an Elf on the Shelf and they have a great time with it. Lilly has been begging for one but the thought of one more thing to add to my to do list is a bit overwhelming. I did see an ad the other day for a "knock off" product that was an angel. Instead of mischief, she gives you an act of kindness to do each day. I love that idea!

    Have a great week! Blessings!

  3. I love that quote from Pinterest! Too true!

I tried growing African violets a long time ago ... they didn't do well, but I'm sure it was because I didn't care for them properly (I was young). I just might have to try again after seeing how beautiful yours looks.

I am going to check out the recipe for pretzel turtles. DD and I can add them to the plates of cookies that we share. ;-)

Your African Violet is so pretty...mine get big but don't have nearly the blooms yours does. Enjoy your day!

  5. Your African Violet is going "great guns"! Never seen one that big. The socks are too cute! And the saying, Oh my goodness--yes, it's one thing about a small town that would get on my last nerve!

  6. I think that quote is hilarious!! Those should come in pocket size cards to hand out to ppl as needed. I have had lots of ppl doing that to me about my kids in stores lately and I would love to tell them just that! Hope all is well with you!

  9. I just at those same yummy sweet and salty snacks at a party last weekend. I think I ate about 15 of them! I am going to make them on Christmas Eve to take to the family! Rolos are my favorite candy.

  10. It's nice to have excellent help in an office to keep it running smoothly. That African Violet is gorgeou. I love making those pretzels turtles, they are on my grocery list for tomorrow. I saw that sign on Pinterest and it made me laugh. Bought Elf on the Shelf this year. He will be boxed for years since we don't have any grandbabies yet!

  11. The pretzel turtles look great! I need to get going on our Christmas treats ~

Love the African violet too! My mom always had those - they thrived near the SE windows, but were never that huge : ) I got out of the houseplant habit between kids and moving often... something I'm working on rekindling.

    Have a great week, Lea!

  12. Good morning! I don't know what about this post I loved most. First the shirts, socks, and gals are darling. I am "mama" to a few gals too...love it. And I have made those turtles a few times, and your right...always a big hit. And, African violets have always been one of my favorites. I can't seem to find a good spot here to grow them though. And finally, I would have LOVED Elf on the shelf when my kids were young. Soo fun. Have a good day! HUGS
