Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for Joyce's questions.  Today's are some of my most favorite, so sit back and enjoy and if you would like to read more Hodgepodge, click on the button above and enjoy some more.

1. Have you ever played golf? Any interest in playing? Do you have a significant other who loves to play? Did you watch The Masters this past weekend?

Hubby's enjoying a round

Other than miniature golf, I have never played the "real" game. No, I am not interested in playing.  It seems to me to be a most frustrating game and I'd be so tempted to throw the club when that little white ball would not go in that little bitty hole when I wanted it to. ~giggle~ Yes, my significant other does play and enjoys it very much and has for about 35 years.  Hubby watched a lot of The Masters and I watched parts of it and we were absolutely thrilled when Bubba Watson won.  How refreshing to see someone so humble win!

2. Hats are back in fashion this spring...how do you feel about wearing a hat? (fyi-I'm not talking baseball caps) When was the last time you wore one?

A club that I was a member of about 15 years ago had an afternoon tea and we all wore hats.  It was such fun and I loved it.  I think hats are the height of femininity!  It's definitely something that you have to get use to but I think I could get "into" it.

3. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 meaning proficient and 1 meaning "I'd starve", how adept are you at using chopsticks?

A whopping #1, I'd starve slap too death!

4. Has technology taken over?
I was just discussing this very fact with someone yesterday.  We are so connected today and it is not always a good thing.  I think it is of utmost importance that we all find a healthy balance in our use of these and to remember that we have lived without them and did just fine.  It's amazing to me how often we go into a restaurant and see a couple sitting at the table, both on their cell phones texting or playing games and never breathing a word to each other.  Something about that just isn't right!

5. In the course of a day how often do you look in a mirror?
Oh, I guess about 2-3 times and it mostly to reapply my lipstick.  I'm "into" lipstick and like for it to look fresh and neat all day. ~did you doubt that?~

6. Tulip or Daffodil?

I would have to say tulips!  They are a much happier flower to me and I love their many colors.

7. I am proud of myself for __________________.

Oh, this is hard!  There are several,  but the one that jumped out first was starting my blog. I have enjoyed it more than I ever imagined that I would and I've met so many fantastic folks on this journey.  And, almost daily I hear of someone else that enjoys it.  I did it solely for myself but when someone else enjoys it, well, that's just "icing on the cake."

8. Insert your own random thought here.
Hubby and I will be leaving on a Spring trip in  a few days and that means that I have to pack.  I have traveled tons and tons and still have not learned the "art of packing."  I  usually over pack but I like to have choices and I enjoy having all my accessories with me.  We will be driving on this trip so it is easier to take more and more.  When we fly then it all HAS to go in a suitcase and that will often limit what I can take or how much.  I have a "method to my madness" when I pack.  I get each day's outfit one at a time and then get the accessories to go with that and then go to the next day and on and on until I have each day covered.  That way  I have my bases covered.  If I get all my outfits packed and then the accessories that go with them, I always forget something.  I'm quite certain that I could worry a whole lot less about it and things would be fine, but I might not be near as put together while I was gone. ~big laugh~ I had a lady tell me that a good pair of black pants and a 2-3 tops and a pair of jeans and 2-3 tops and 2 good pairs of shoes will take you half way around the world and back.  And, she said you wear the same jewelry with all of it.  Wow! how simple that would be!  But, doubt it's gonna happen.

  1. It never fails...I always overpack, too! You have to be prepared for what might come up, you know? I agree...it was so wonderful to see Bubba Watson win! Seems like such a down-to-earth guy who loves his mama!

  2. I try not to overpack and actually did pretty good on my recent trip considering we had two different climates. If you're driving why limit yourself : ) Enjoy your travels!

  3. Have a good trip with your husband. I am a lipstick gal too - I feel I can't even talk right without lipstick on. You and I would get along just fine!

  4. Good morning! I can pack in less than ten minutes if everything is all clean and ready etc. I am your basic packer, haha....(let's say I am going to be gone a week) it's 4 pairs of comfy jeans (various shades of blue) 1 pair of nice black pants, 1 pair of white pants. And then 7 tops ALL of which will go with ANY of the pants. One REALLY nice top (in case we do anything fancy) that goes with the nice black pants. Two pairs of sandles (that go with everything) one pair of tennis shoes, one basic pair of black heels (again for the fancy dress up)one sweater (again goes with everything) then I grab my basic gold and silver jewlery (watch, ear ring hoops, chain heart necklace)that goes with everything. Nice pair of ear rings that go with the nice top, underwear, nighties, and I am done. hahaha....I do have kind of a lot of cosmetics, but again it is packed in a couple of minutes. I have a really nice bag that it all fits into really nicely. I have no idea why I just wrote this all out for you, lol. Now I just need somewhere to go. Have a wonderful day...

  5. Enjoyed reading your hodgepodge this morning. You should see our vehicle when we go to John's for a month. I have learned to scale back drastically from the earlier trips though. And I have learned that I can wear the same outfit mulitiple times without too much pain. Thanks again for your help yesterday and hope your trip is all you need it to be.

  6. I always over pack cuz I like choices too...but I do try to limit my jewelry so I don't have to take something to match each outfit.

I want to get better at it and not have to lug all of that baggage around. (Something I want to do in life too...not carry extra baggage!)

I hope you will have a fun trip!

Oh, and weren't those just the most delicate soft pink and swirled tulips??? I Loved them!

  7. hee hee - Enjoyed your #8 ;D

I pretty much gave up my limited love of accessories during our 'having babies' season - and never picked the habit back up. Tim bought me a pretty go-with-everything necklace in 2010 that I wore a LOT last year {when I was dressed up beyond the usual frumpy}.

Have you ever been up here during Tulip Time at Pella? Supposed to be lovely!

  8. I used to feel apologetic for how much I packed, but no more! I like choices too, and I feel better about myself if I'm properly accessorized. And you'll never know what shoes you might need! : )

  9. I love packing when we take the car. I can always take whatever I want. Enjoy your little vacation :)

  10. Your packing paragraph seems to be the hotspot of the Hodgepodge, Lea! I pack similarly to you--choose the outfit, then accessories. The fun thing about my son's wedding was that the invitation pictured his and her wedding shoes. I ended up packing 1) comfy decorating shoes 2) rehearsal dinner shoes 3) wedding shoes 4) dancing ballet shoes. All my jewelry fits in a nice, flat box about 6x5x1/2". Like Debbie said, why did I tell you all that? teehee

  11. I so agree with you about the technology thing. We were at a Southern Gospel Concert a couple weeks ago and it was so sad there were several couples that were on their phones texting or playing games and not enjoying the concert together. Yes I think we take it to far sometimes.
    until next time... nel

  12. We've been traveling enough that we don't majorly overpack, but we still end up taking a couple of things that we do not wear. I guess I'd rather be safe than sorry, in case we spill something, get overly warm, etc. Of course, we drive, so we don't have to worry *too much* about whether we've packed too much. ;-)

  13. I don't know how I missed you yesterday! I enjoyed watching The Masters on Sunday. I am a 1 with chopsticks also. I agree, something is not right when everyone has their phones out in a restaurant! I can't pack either.
    Have a wonderful trip.

  14. Have a good time on your trip. I try to pack like your friend says, but don't want to feel like I'm wearing a variation of the same outfit over and over.
