Wednesday Hodgepodge

I've missed about 2-3 weeks of HP and am having withdrawal. I'm glad to be back because Joyce always causes me to have to scratch my head, and that's a good thing.

1. Something on your October calendar that makes you smile?
Well, my baby brother is flying in tomorrow for a few days and I always enjoy his visits.  Then towards the end of the month I'll be seeing my newest Gran.  And, one other thing is that we will celebrate our #1 son's 39th birthday this Friday and since I'm only 40,that really makes me smile. ~a loud chuckle~

2. Food for the soul or music for the soul...which camp are you in? Tell us why?

It would definitely be music!  I have always enjoyed music of all kinds and generally have it playing in my car and home.  I usually play Contemporary Christian in the car and Easy Listening in the house.  Music is soooo soothing to my soul!

3. What are two or three things you've learned recently as the result of an online search?
Not anything earth shattering but found out when Downton Abbey and Call the Midwives new seasons start a couple of days ago.

4. Share your favorite game day recipe. You can describe it, post the how-to, or add a link to the actual recipe.
Humm.....I know it's probably weird, but Hubby usually watches our LSU Tigers and I sit here with him doing something else.  Occasionally we will go over to friends and enjoy some good eats and fellowship while the game is on.  That's always fun! But, I have no game day recipe as such.

5. What are your five essential steps for creating the perfect morning routine?
1 - get up by 5:30AM and grab a cup of coffee
2- spend time in devotion and prayer
3 - take my morning treadmill walk
4 - get dressed and ready for the day
5 - grab my to do list and get busy

6. What small thing have you taken note of today?

Hubby and I embarked upon hanging a VERY heavy mirror yesterday morning.  We were hanging it fairly high in one of our bathrooms and at one point we were both standing on the granite vanity holding this heavy mirror trying to get it on the hanger.  I took note that neither of us should have been standing that far up hanging a heavy mirror.  ~not very smart~ ~too old for such~

7. Sum up your September in seven words or less.

Too busy and too much excitement!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

This is a bad picture but I snapped it with my phone in a hurry so I could show you my automatic flickering candles.  I have 3 groupings of them and I have them all set to come on at 5:00PM and I just love the ambiance they create.  They are so peaceful and I love candlelight. And, they look soooo real!

  2. Well I find your online search exciting too and plan on looking that up now later myself, lol. LOVE both of those programs. Your morning routine is very similar to mine minus the treadmill though that WAS my routine for years and years. LOVED my early morning walk. I too have groupings of those automatic candles like that and I too just love them. Though I have had them off in the summertime. Seemed by the time it was dark enough to enjoy we'd be close to bed, lol. But it's time to get them set again. Enjoy the rest of the week, and oh I agree with you, probably not a good idea to be climbing up to hang anything, lol

  3. Ahh, I love candlelight too...and little white lights. They're so mellow and comfortable and don't show up dust and dog hair. Lol. I wish I could be so energized at 5:30 am, but I need another half hour! Have a wonderful and productive day! :-)

  4. Regarding the hanging of the heavy mirror while you both stood on the granite countertop -- I'm glad you lived to tell the story. Falling from a countertop was how I shattered my shoulder. I really like the electric candles, too. They create such a warm, homey look and are SAFER than open flames.

  5. I love the candles. They're great outdoors too. Thank you for all the helpful cabinet info! I will probably pick your brain again before we're all moved in : ) Happy birthday to your son! Sometimes I'm shocked to realize how old my kids are-ha!

  6. I am so glad your month ahead includes getting to see that precious little baby. They change so quickly and I know you don't want to miss a thing. Happy Birthday to Brandon. 39! When did that happen. While I was watching my son turn 46, I guess. We just aren't old enough for all this, are we.

  8. So funny, Leah... I just googled the same thing about DA, Call the Midwife, and Last Tango in Halifax. The candles look great. Enjoy your weekend!

  9. Hey there, Leah! It's been far too long! Like you, I've taken some time off from HP, but am happy to be back today! I'll have to go back and look at some of your posts about your new home. Where on earth did you find candles that you can set timers for?

  10. Those candles are so cool! How calming to wake up to a flickering candle!

  11. I love the idea of setting the candles on a timer, where did you find them?. My oldest just turned 34 and I still trying to figure out how he got so old so quick.

  12. I enjoyed getting to know more about you in this hodgepodge post. I'm intrigued by those candles on a timer; never heard of such.

  13. I'm not sure that climbing up onto the bathroom vanity is a very good idea at any age, especially our age. ;-)

  14. Enjoy your visit with your brother. So when do they start, is it in January??? Two of my favorite shows. Glad you got the mirror hung but you are right, you shouldn't be doing that. Just recently I took pictures of some trimming my husband did outside so I can show our gardener next year and let him do it! We hung a heavy mirror nine years ago and it went okay but crazy to do it with just the two of us. Love the candles. I have had some on our mantel for two years now and each night they just look so real and so pretty.

So glad you stopped by and hope you enjoyed your visit. I love your comments and read each and every one of them and I always try to reply to them. Blessings to you this day!
