Wednesday Hodgepodge

Oh, my, Joyce has given us some "doozies" today.  My poor brain hurt as I came up with my answers to these.  But, it was good brain exercise and as always, she's the "hostess with the mostess."

1.  This week's Hodgepodge is Volume 123.  What's something you've done recently that was as easy as 1-2-3?

Picture from Google
I tried a new recipe for Chicken Enchiladas (think I saw it posted on FB) and it looked a little involved, but it was "easy peasy" and Hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I made 4 containers, and still have 3 in the freezer.  Love having a stash in my freezer.

2.  The Wednesday Hodgepodge also happens to fall on the first day of May ...what is something you may do this month?

I am still at work getting my Dad's "stuff" moved.  It has been a work in progress for sure and I "may" tackle his home office this month and try to get that behind me. Once the decision was made that he would remain at the assisted living facility, I have slowly been getting his possessions situated.  And, thank goodness, he was a man of few possessions and was not a "pack rat" so the job could have been much, much worse.

3. The Englishman Horace Walpole is credited as saying, "The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think"  How do you see it?

Oh, my, I'm thinking this question is too deep for my "thinker." ~laugh~  But, I will take a stab at it.........perhaps if one allows the happenings of this world to get to them, then it would certainly seem like the world is a tragedy.  But, if one just sees the world as crazy and mixed up and there's nothing they can do about it, maybe they can view it in a more comical way.  Heck, I don't know!

4.  May is National Hamburger Month...how often do you eat a burger? What are your must-haves when it comes to burgers?  I assume you vegetarians won't be celebrating so tell us what you'd like instead?

Well, I do love a good hamburger and probably eat 2 -3 a month and it must have a little mayo and mustard, pickles, onions and lettuce.  No, that's right, no tomatoes.  I don't do tomatoes!

5. Pansies, petunias, geraniums, impatiens...of the four mentioned, which is your favorite in a patio pot? Will there be pots on your patio this spring? (Or whenever spring comes to your part of the globe?) Who does the gardening at your house?

Periwinkles, impatients, strawberry plant and petunias - all on our patio
I started working on getting our patio lined out about mid-March.  Well, that was not a good idea.  Old man winter had not finished his cold snaps and I lost some of my plants and had to redo them.  I always have a lot of pansies in the winter, then I replace those with petunias and impatients in the spring.  Yes, there are several pots on our patio and while I am definitely not a gardener, I do oversee the patio plants and Hubby oversees the other 2 1/2 acres.  ~did I say it is a whole lotta work~

6. When did you last (literally or figuratively) shout "Mayday, Mayday!"
Oh, it would be literally...........the last time a flying squirrel got into our house and was awaiting me one morning while hid in the office draperies.  That's was about 4 months ago but that was about the 3rd time it has happened.  You can ask my Hubby what kind of a scream I can give---can I just say it is piercing!  We have since had that problem addressed permanently!  I told Hubby I was moving out if something wasn't done and I guess he took me at my word. ~big laugh~

7.  Say farewell to your April in ten words or less.

You came in too cool, but left feeling springy. Yea!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Hubby and I went out to eat with friends the other evening.  When we came out of the restaurant this was the site we saw.  This  fella was just sitting there like a good boy waiting on his Master to return.  We got so tickled but not because he looked so happy but because he was being so good.  He actually looks pretty sad.  Shame on his owner! ~smile~  Looks like they had been mud riding before this stop.

Happy mid-week!

  1. Lea, I had to laugh out loud on your response to the quote. The "Heck, I don't know" would have been my initial answer. Have a great week.

  2. I had the same thought on that question...haha. Too deep and too much to think about. I'd love that quick easy chicken enchilada recipe. Always think I am going to make that up. Enjoy your day!

  4. Your pots are lovely. I'm so anxious to add some color around here...hopefully this weekend, but I need to check the weather. We're advised normally to wait until after Mother's Day, but hey it's close, right?

  6. The day I find a flying squirrel in my house is the day I pack my bags and run out the front door never to return! ;) Your flowers look so pretty...I'm not buying it that you're not a gardener. Aww...poor dog. His sad face just pulls at my heartstrings!

  7. I'm certain I will be the odd ball here but I absolutely love that quote "The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think" Being one who is a deep thinker and feeler I can appreciate it from an entirely different aspect...humm...maybe it would make for a great blog post? Love your flowers and all that you've shared here...wonderful little Hodgepodge you have going here today. LOVE the dog...it always amazes me when they "stay" with nothing to keep them there. Happy Wednesday sweet Lea

  8. Way to go on the freezer stash and the Chicken Enchiladas look great. One of the reasons I want to get my house in order, less is more approach, is that I don't want it to fall on my children someday. I'm afraid I have let the world get to me lately :( Cute photo and what a trained dog! Enjoy the rest of your week Lea.

  11. May is national hamburger month?? That explains it then, I have been craving hamburgers, and I am just not a big hamburger eater. I want it loaded when I do have one. We actually grilled some this past week end at the campground and they were so delish! Oh wait, that was still April. Oh well, it was the best, and that sweet dog in the jeep is the best!

  12. Yum! I do love some chicken enchiladas and having them in the freezer to pop out when needed is wonderful!

I haven't had a hamburger since January and now my stomach is begging for one! I like mine with ketchup only because I am so boring!!

Wow is what I say to the dog sitting obediently in the car, my two little ankle biters would be (out of that car since it's open) screaming and scratching like crazy!
