A Pinkish Hodgepodge

It's Wednesday again folks!  The first Wednesday of February.......where did January go?  While we figure that out I'll get started on Joyce's questions for the week.

1. Do you wear your heart on your sleeve, or keep your emotions tucked in tight?
Probably somewhere in between. ~smile~  In the past 6 years I have faced the sudden loss of my Mother and the devastating illness of my Dad.  Those both have caused me so much grief and at times it was so very hard to keep my emotions tucked in tight.  So, I guess my answer would be that it depends on what emotion I am dealing with.  If I am dealing with emotions that are really no one's business then I can definitely keep them tucked in tight. And, if my emotions are running high with excitement, then, the whole world knows. ~grin~   Not sure any of what I just wrote makes sense. ~big laugh~

2. How did you meet your closest friend?
Lynette and I will be celebrating 50 years of friendship this June.  We now live about 1000 miles apart and have pretty much, except for a few years, always lived many miles apart.  But, we met in the 8th grade after I had just moved to town.  I can't remember exactly how our friendship began but I guess she welcomed me to her girlfriend group and we  became BFF's.  Of course, Jr. High can be such a hard time and especially if you are the "new kid on the block" but Lynette made me feel so welcome and I never missed a beat.  When we get to be together we always pick right up where we left off the last time we saw each other.  Thankfully I have, as does she, some very dear friends to share our day to day lives.

3.  Pink lemonade, grilled salmon, cotton candy, pink grapefruit, a strawberry milkshake, or raspberry sorbet...of the pink foods listed, which one is your favorite? Least favorite? Which one have you most recently consumed?
Hummm...I've never had it but I'm pretty sure raspberry sorbet would be my favorite as none of the others would be.  I do not care for pink grapefruit and about a month again I had grilled salmon and it was a tad bit strong, so I didn't enjoy it all that much.

4. When were you last 'tickled pink' over something? Explain.
The last time would be when we had our family Christmas.  I am always "tickled pink" when the big kids and little kids are thrilled with our gifts to them and they were pretty thrilled this past Christmas.  I'm about to be really "tickled pink" when our little Andi Kate makes her arrival. ~big smile~

5. Are you a fan of television talk shows? Daytime, nighttime, or both? What's your favorite?
I am not a fan of television talk shows, day or night.  I will occasionally turn on Kathy Lee and Hoda if I am working in the kitchen while they are on.  That's about 3X a year and I sort of enjoy them but I really like Jenna Bush with Hoda the best. ~in case you were interested~

6. When was the last time you wanted to ask a question, but felt too foolish to do so?
I'm sure that has happened to me but right now I cannot remember the last time.

7. My favorite frozen Greek Yogurt right now is Cherry Chocolate Swirl.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.
We are getting down to a lot of details on the new house.  It seems every day presents decisions, decisions and more decisions.  Thankfully, none have been too overwhelming and we are knocking them out one by one.  We are currently in the process of choosing door knobs and cabinet knobs.  Do you know the choices out there?  I mean, there are more choices than the law allows.  On many of the choices we have had to make, our decorator has narrowed the choices down to two or three and that is so helpful.  It's such fun to watch it all start coming together.  We are thinking we "might" be close to moving by May 1st. ~time will tell~

  1. Long time friends, who knew us as children, and who grew up alongside us are so special. You're about to be 'in the pink' pretty soon now-so excited for you! Is the soon-to-be big sister excited?

  2. We built a home from scratch once. It's a job to try and "enjoy" ONCE! It's also a lot of work! I also turn into Hoda and Kathie Lee sometimes. They are funny together - and I like that they are not "Spring chickens"...guess I can relate!?

  3. Cherry chocolate frozen Greek yogurt sounds delicious. When I was a teenager I worked at a fruit market that had a frozen yogurt counter with soft serve and lots of toppings. My friends used to laugh at me because I'd always eat frozen yogurt, even in the freezing winter!

  4. I'm certain you'll be all settled in your beautiful home in no time, at all! We built our first home, which was tiny, and I was overwhelmed by all the decisions involved. Your friend sounds much like mine, whom I met in the 5th grade. We remain very close to this day and I love her to pieces.

  5. We discussed, as we were getting ready to sell our old house and move, building a house. I nixed the idea because of all the overwhelming choices ... I wish I would have thought to do what you all are doing and hire a decorator to help with the choices/decisions. We like our house and our neighborhood, but there are so many things that I'd like to change (just can't justify the expense on a house that's only 8 years old).

  7. We chose pewter handles for our black cabinetry because the door knobs throughout the house were already pewter to go with the stainless steel appliances. I have always been a fan of brass, but the pewter looks really nice. I look forward to seeing what you have chosen.

Waiting to hear when your new granddaughter and mine arrive. Wouldn't it be a kick if it were on the same day?!!!

  8. Lea... one of the many reasons I decided to join Hodgepodge is that I always enjoyed your answers. I think it tells a lot about the blogger. May will be here before you know it. I'm sure it will be beautiful. How wonderful to have a friend for 50 years. Hope you do something fun to celebrate! Enjoy the rest of your week!

  9. Since I'm out of town and not participating in WH this week, I've enjoyed reading the responses. Best Friend question would have been fun to answer. My best friend was my 1st friend as a preschooler in north La. We rediscovered each other when we moved to Shreveport 12 years ago. Interesting story. But I am so grateful for Judy being returned to me. See you again next week.

  10. I think it's pretty special to have had a friend for 50 years. I can't say that I have anyone like that in my life but I have many dear friends that I have made over the years. You have got to be bursting with excitement over the upcoming arrival of your new little grand.
I always enjoy reading your Hodgepodge, I think it helps to get to know a blogger a little better. Hope you have a wonderful weekend

  11. Since I love raspberries I picked the sorbet too although I don't normally eat sorbets. Celebrating Christmas with family is a great time to be tickled pink. It is all so exciting with your new home.....

  12. I haven't watched Hoda & Kathie Lee in a long time (because of KL...not a fan). I really like Jenna Bush, though. It doesn't look like there are too many fans of pink grapefruit out there!
