Monday's Moments

What a weekend!  We've had more tornado's and storms in the past few weeks than the law allows.  Our most recent was this past Friday night.  The  weather alert went off on my phone around 2:45 AM and Hubby and I got up to check the weather radar.  It was a bit scary and Hubby kept a vigil on things for over an hour before coming back to bed.  I slept with one eye open and was ready to head to a closet that's our "safe room."  We came through with no damage but such was not the case with many folks.  There is lots and lots of cleanup going on in our area.  I do not know of any injuries, just lots and lots and property damage and  folks being unsettled.  So scary!

On a lighter note..........once Easter decor was taken down I was excited to put out my lemon decor.  I love lemons and for me they scream spring and summer.

When I started collecting lemon decor I was so surprised at all the various items available . It makes me happy for sure.  I always have my eye peeled for more lemon items.

And, I love my colorful Melamine dishes in the spring and summer as well.  I found this beaded zinnia runner at Pier 1 this year and it fits perfectly with the lemons as well.  And, I found these cute button ferns at Wal-Mart a few days ago and they work great as my centerpiece for now. So, in spite of all the storms and rainy weather, I've created some sunshine inside.
~~~~~~
And, I absolutely love having something to look forward to.  Our daughter and I have wanted to go to Pawhuska, Ok. and visit all things Pioneer Woman.  Our daughter only lives about 2 hours from Pawhuska so we decided we just needed to make plans to go.  She heard about the new PW Boarding House and went online the very day that they opened for reservations.  Well, apparently a bazillion other folks did too.  And, there are only 8 rooms at the Boarding House so we were concerned that we might not ever be lucky enough to get one on the one night we requested.  But, we did!!!!  We're going for my birthday the end of July and we'll be staying in the Prairie Room (pictured above) and will spend two days checking out all of the various shops and eateries affiliated with PW.  We are so excited!!!
I got a new Dell desktop computer a few days ago.  This is my 2nd all-in-one computer and I love them.  There's no bulky tower, just a sleek lined screen and a nice looking stand.  I did about 75% of the set up by myself.  I can't believe how easy it is compared to a few years ago.  My awesome computer tech guy moved some of my files over for me as I just am not sure about how all of that is done.  All went smooth as silk until it came to Outlook syncing with ICloud  and that is MUST for me.  I have my laptop, desktop, IPhone and IPad all synced thru ICloud and my addresses and calendar would not show up in Outlook.   Ugh!!! My tech guy worked and worked and finally I told him I would just call Apple and hopefully they could "fix it."  Well, to make a long story short, the issues ended up being a Microsoft problem and after almost 3 hours on the phone at 3 different times, all is good.  The Microsoft tech guy told me that Windows 10 has some glitches with the latest ICloud  update and they are working to resolve the issue but until they do they will fix it on a case by case basis.  I cannot say enough nice things about both Apple and Microsoft support.  Yes, it was so aggravating but they took care of it as quickly as they could.  I cannot even imagine having a job as a tech support person.  I'm quite certain I am not cut out for such.  But, I sure am grateful for the folks that do have those positions.
Early this Thursday morning I will be boarding a plane headed to Des Moines, Iowa.  My younger brother, his wife and their daughter live in the area.  I will be enjoying a long weekend visit with them and we will head to Orange City, Iowa on Sat. morning to see their son as he stars in The Glass Menagerie.  Warren will graduate from Northwestern University in May and he has captivated their drama department with his acting skills and been in every play done since his arrival.  I am more than a little excited!
AND, I will be meeting this sweet gal, Erin, for the first time.  I have been following Erin's blog, Simple Purposeful Living, for about a year.  Erin is such a sweetheart and a gal after God's own heart and I can hardly wait to meet her face to face.  This is just another one of the many neat things about blogging.  She lives in the same area as my niece.  It really is a small world.  I'm sure I'll have so much to tell and share when I get home.  Stay tuned............
    We've had two hailstorms the past two Fridays and then very cold weather. Hopefully, things will be more calm now.
  7. We live about 23 miles from Greensboro and they had a tornado touch down on Sunday evening leaving a neighborhood and 3 schools devastated. One man was killed when a tree fell on him in his vehicle. This spring has really been a strange one. Glad to hear that you did not get any damage to your place. Your trip to OK sounds wonderful! Enjoy your time in Iowa with your family and meeting up with your blogging friend!
  9. I love lemons too! I hosted a young women's time of fellowship at my home and my theme was "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade". Everything I done pertained to a lemon of some kind. So easy to decorate around the theme as well. Oh you will enjoy the trip with your daughter visiting the PW. How wonderful for you. So glad you all are fine from that storm. We had heavy rain and winds on Sunday beginning around 2 pm but praise the Lord nothing more than that. It has truly been a crazy season of weather. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
  10. I'm so glad to hear that you are safe and sound after that storm! Hope the clean up is going smoothly for all in your area. Happy to hear that while there are likely many repairs happening, that everyone is okay. I was actually enrolled to go to Northwestern in Orange City many years ago! I had a dorm room assigned to me, a student ID, and all, but decided I couldn't be that far from my then boyfriend. That summer (before I would've began classes there) we were engaged and married in November so it all worked out for the best. ;) This November we'll celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Hooray for scoring one of only 8 rooms in that beautiful PW Boarding House! What a wonderful birthday celebration that will be, no doubt! I adore your lemon decor and your cheery, colorful table! So much to smile about in one post! So glad I scrolled back to "catch up with you"! :)
