Hodgepodge Wednesday

 1. National Read a Road Map Day falls on April 5th. Would people say you have a good sense of direction? Do you rely on a GPS when you drive somewhere new? When was the last time you used a map? Oh, my goodness, I am the Queen of "Directionally Challenged."  It's just pitiful but thank goodness for the new GPS devices.  I love, love those neat little things.  I have one built in to my vehicle and Hubby has one of the portable ones in his.  I love the way they give such specific directions, no guessing with them.  I've never used a map because I do not know how to read one.  I can't believe I just admitted that. ~giggle~

2. What's your favorite cookbook?

The first Junior League cookbook from the Junior League of Monroe, La., "Cotton Country."  It is about 35 years old and has the best recipes and I've been using it since it was written. It has been listed as one of the Top 5 cookbooks in America. Mine has drips, spills and torn pages throughout. It might be time to buy a new one.

3. What painting would you like to "walk into" and experience? Why?
This is Broadwater Bridge by Thomas Kinkade  and I would love to walk across that bridge and see what is on the other side. You know, "curiousity killed the cat."  I love Kinkade's work but it is not something I want in my home.  But, that doesn't keep me from liking it and wondering what's on the other side of this bridge. ~smile~

4. What annoys you more- misspellings or mispronunciations? Oh, me, both bother me if they are obvious, I mean, some are easily overlooked and others are just glaring you in the face.  One name that immediately comes to mind that is so mispronounced is DeBlieux.  It is pronounced W, just plain ole W.  But, most folks pronounce it DeBlue. It is a very common name here in North Louisiana. By the  way, I can certainly see why it is mispronounced. ~smile~

5. What is something your mother or father considered important? Well, since my Dad was a Baptist minister, it was the deep desire of he and my Mom's heart that me and my two brothers love the Lord, accept Him as our Savior and live lives pleasing to Him.  Nothing was as important to them because they knew if He was our #1 priority that everything else would fall into place in our lives.

6. Do you like or dislike schedules?
I LOVE  a schedule and pretty much operate by one everyday of my life.  I find that I am much more productive that way, but there are likely a whole lot of folks that are just as productive who "fly by the seat of their pants."  But, I'll always be a "schedule liking gal."

7. Let's have some fun with National Poetry Month (that would be April)...write your own ending to this poem-

"Roses are Red
Violets are blue..."

Okay, I've spent way to much time pondering this one, so I'll just leave this one to you "poets that didn't know it."

8. Insert your own random thought in this space.
It's these kind of moments that I'm going to miss when Clancy moves in 7 short weeks.  I'm just thankful that I will still have my little Princess to fill that spot in my lap.  I just keep telling myself that it will be alright. ~smile~

  1. I'm glad I linked over from Joyce's blog ... your post still hasn't shown up in my Google reader or Blogger dashboard.

I, too, love Kinkade's work, but I don't know that I'd want one in my home either. I did a piece of his in counted cross stitch (over 40,000 stitches); it was beautiful and went for a pretty penny at the ladies' group auction a few years back.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  3. I feel your pain on the grandchildren moving away. Three of mine have never lived nearby, but the other three did for several years. Then they moved 7 hours away almost 2 years ago. It's still hard. But they'll be here for Easter!

  4. Oh we will have to get out a map today and see if we can follow it. Number 4, well I am bad at both, so I would get on your nerves. LOL
My husband recently met and spoke with Kinkade...his works are beautiful and I agree it would be fun to see what is across the bridge.
I am a "fly by the seat of my pants girl".

Oh enjoy that grandson while you have him so close...I know God will be so creative in letting you see him grow.

  5. Those are great. I love it when people tell more about themselves. It would be really hard to pick a painting that I'd want to walk into. Where to begin??

  7. Oh keep that grandson close for the next few weeks. It "will" be ok - not easy but it will be ok. When he gets older he can come and stay with you for a few days.

  14. Hopefully Clancy isn't moving too far away. My only grandaughter is about 15 minutes away. I couldn't imagine being very far from family.

  15. Those Junior League books are always good. Thomas Kinkade is the best. So sorry about the move, my sister when through that after pretty much raising her grandchildren. It broke her heart but they are all back in the area now!

  16. Great answers. I used a Kinkade painting too. I used the Cinderella Castle one.

  17. So sorry you won't be having cuddly Clancy with you much longer. :(

Thanks for the heads-up about "W." I would not have guessed that at all!

  18. I am just so sad that you were in Jackson and we didn't get to meet up! Hopefully soon, though :) I really hope y'alls girls' trip was fabulous! I just really enjoy these Wednesday posts from you. They're SO entertaining. Hope your week is going well, sweet friend!

  19. Rob is a huge Kinkade fan! I gave him one of his paintings as a wedding gift :)

I live by lists at work but haven't found a system that works in my personal life. I need to come up with something quickly. Love your to-do list - simple and no frills...maybe I need to adopt that instead of trying to find some fancy system?!

    xoxo, Kelly
