Simple Woman's Daybook

I'm linking up with Peggy over at The Simple Woman's Daybook ......some times it's just good to enjoy the simple things.

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...
the sun is shining brightly and things are drying up from Issac and the humidity must be at least 100%. Ugh!

I am thinking...that the busier I am the happier I am. I don't want to be so busy that I can't get it all done, but busy enough to fill each day.  Does that even make sense?

I am thankful...
for the good days that my Dad has.  Even though he truly is doing well, he can still get very "down and out" about the limitations that GBS left on his life. I often have to remind him of how far he has come.

In the kitchen...
there is a Mexican Chicken Casserole thawing on the cabinet.  I love just reaching in the freezer and pulling out the night's meal.  That with some refried beans and we'll be "happy campers."

I am wearing...
red knee shorts, a white top and white embellished flip flops

I am creating...
hummmm....well, if creating thoughts counts, then I'm creating ideas for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I am going...
to Dodge City 3 weeks from today to celebrate Clancy's 4th birthday.  He'll be having his first "real" party this year with some of his little friends.  They have a nice park there and that is where it will take place.

I am wondering...
if our country will ever be united again. It disturbs me greatly that we are such a divided nation in so many respects.  I long for us to truly be "one nation under God."

I am reading... Extraordinary, Ordinary People: A Memoir of Family
by Condelezza Rice. It's a great read and I'll likely go straight to her newest book, No Higher Honor, after this one. She is such a class act!

I am hoping...
that the November election will turn out for the betterment of our country.  This is a serious election and I pray that every registered voter will be voting.  But, I will say that I tend to agree with what one of the news commentators said last week, " most eighteen year old's are really not old enough to make a sensible vote."  But, there's likely a lot of much older folks that  will not make a sensible vote either. So......

I am looking forward to...
the War Eagle Fall Festival in Northwest Arkansas in mid October.  We're going with dear friends that live in the area and the fall of the year is perfectly beautiful in that area.

Around the house...I am anxious to do a little fall decorating but still is a little soon.  But, the first official day of fall is Sept. 22nd, so I'll be starting shortly.  I look forward to fall more than any other season.

I am pondering...
my precious 90 year old Aunt that lives in Virginia.  She was just recently diagnosed with Bile Duct cancer and it makes my heart so sad.  She is all I have left of my Mom's family and has always held a very special place in my heart.  I am going to spend a few days with her next week.
Taken this past May at her 90th birthday celebration
 A favorite quote for today...

One of my favorite things....
my first cup of coffee

straight out of my Keurig each morning. Coffee + time with the Lord = a good start to my day.

A few plans for the rest of the week....
I have an appointment with the Endodonist to put the stud (or whatever it is called) on my tooth implant.  This has been the longest ordeal and it still will not be over following this procedure.  I will still have to go in a couple of more weeks and have the crown put over this stud.  I won't even tell you what this has cost.  Yikes!
I have no big plans for the remainder of the week.  Just the "same ole' same ole'."

Happy mid-week my dears!

  2. I love the Simple Woman's Daybook ... it's a nice way to share what's going on when there's nothing spectacularly blog-worthy going on. Besides, I think that the Daybook provides a better insight into who we really are. I need to remember to join in from time to time.

What an exciting time it will be to celebrate Clancy's 4th birthday ... that's such a fun age!

I'm not sure that anyone is able to make a sensible vote ... if only because it's impossible to get a clear understanding of a candidate's positions on issues ... we can't trust the media to provide that information in an unbiased manner and truthfully much of what the candidates share are more of an attack on their candidates' positions than it is on a explanation of their own positions.

And yes, your comment about achieving just the right amount of busyness makes perfect sense to me. ;-)

  3. Your aunt is just too cute...and I'm so sorry about her diagnosis. Enjoy your special time together. I'm sure you're going to have a ball at your grandson's birthday...what a treat to be able to celebrate with him! You have such pretty skin. Mind if I ask what kind of makeup (foundation) you use?

  4. Good morning! I totally understand your feelings on the right amount of busyness...recently I have a hard time keeping up, and yet I honestly prefer that. Your aunt looks just wonderful for 90 and I am sorry to hear about her recent diagnosis. Glad you can spend some time with her. I can also relate in soo looking forward to time with your grand. If all goes as planned we will be traveling out to New Mexico for my youngest grand's first birthday. Enjoy your day!

  6. You came up with some great things. I think I would have trouble with these. Dinner sounds delicious. Going to Dodge City sounds like a fun time. I am very concerned for our nation also. I pray the elections helps. So sorry to hear about your Aunt. ((HUGS)) and prayers.

  7. First off, it really tickled me for some reason to read that you had Mexican chicken casserole for dinner. That's exactly what I fixed tonight--before reading your blog! Great minds (mouths?) think alike. I have never heard of bile duct cancer. So, so sorry to hear about your sweet aunt's diagnosis.
Yay for getting to go to Dodge for Clancy's b'day! And the right amount of busyness makes me happier than having too little or too much to do in day. So much satisfaction in being productive w/o going bonkers.

  8. Hope your dental work isn't too uncomfortable for you. I hate the dentist so I don't envy you!

    Best wishes, Pam

  9. I'm so glad you stopped by my blog today!

I love the "Simple Woman's Daybook", and will occasionally do a post.

I know what you mean about the election. What ever happened to "one nation, under God"? I'm praying that Americans will make the right choice in November--the sensible choice.
