Miscellany Monday

It's Labor Day and that means there are only 17 more Monday's left until Christmas.  Goodness, where has the year gone.  That also means we only have 18 more times this year to link up with sweet Carissa for MM.  Time just keeps on marching by.....

The Aftermath.........
Issac left our yard a shambles for sure but nothing that cannot be cleaned up.  There are hundreds and hundreds of twigs and limbs on this 2 1/2 acres that we live on.  Hubby has managed to get the front yard in fair shape and in the next few days he'll get the rest done (with some help).  It is still way too wet to do much.  But, as I said, it's truly a little thing compared to the damage so many others received and some may never recover from it. Very sad.

The Preparation........
Hunting season is just around the corner and Hubby is getting ready.  At this time of year he goes to all of his deer stands and sets out Defoggers to rid them of any creepy, crawly things.  I rode with him to do this on Saturday.  ~now aren't I a good wife~  Believe it or not, he's been hunting some 55+ years.  Don't you think it's time to call it quits? ~big laugh~  He is very serious
about hunting, enjoys it immensely  and I would say is probably one of the most careful hunters around.  He's never been a risk taker and has made modifications to his stands as he has gotten older.  And, he no longer hangs off the side of a tree to hunt. Thank the Lord!  And, might I add that the inside of his stands are decked out as much as a tree stand can be decked out.  He has carpet on the floors and a nice padded arm chair to sit in and of course, a heater.  And, no, I do not go with him.  You have to sit still and be quiet for long hours  and I simply cannot do that. Sounds like the perfect description of boredom to me. ~laugh~

Investing...........

This is my brother and his family (plus my niece's boyfriend) at a Habitat for Humanity house that they recently helped with.  This is a way for them and anyone else who cares to, to invest in the lives of others and make a difference.  Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every (regardless of race or religion) person should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. This is a good thing!!

I'm Honored........
Barbie, over at My Freshly Brewed Life has named me her Inspired Blogger for September and has done a blog post on me today.  I was so honored when she emailed to tell me and to ask me to send her some info to use in her post.  Barbie is such a precious person and has so much depth.  That's all the more reason I'm honored that she chose such a simple blog as mine to feature.  If you do not know Barbie or have never visited her blog then I urge you to go on over and be blessed. And, if you care, you can go over and read today's post. ~wink~

And, I leave you with this........
The fact remains: Our time in this world amounts to a tiny fragment of the whole.  We would be foolish to spend all our energy  on the here and now.  (Charles Stanley)

  2. I'd never seen a deer stand before. And I'm with you ... it just doesn't sound like my cup of tea. ;-)

Congratulations on being named the Inspired Blogger for September ... I checked it out and learned something new about you (that you had a gift-wrapping business). I didn't know that ... but I'm not surprised. ;-)

I love that Charles Stanley quote! Have a wonderful Labor Day!

  3. Oh, and I read the bra fitting post ... too funny. I'm sure I need an expert fitting. I had one about 2 1/2 years ago, but #1 I wasn't sure that it was done well ... she determined that I was a certain size, and it took 6-7 bras in that size to find one that fit ... which made me wonder ... what's the point in getting fitted and getting my proper size if the majority of bras in that size don't fit properly? and #2 I wasn't happy with the bra that did fit (it had lacy sides which were kind of scratchy and didn't have any "padding" ... I'm not very well endowed and like a little extra something to help out in that department ... and that little extra something helps provide some extra modesty when the weather begins to cool off). Even so, I would like to be refitted ... maybe a different fitter at a different bra shop would work out better this time. ;-)

  5. Happy Labor Day to you and Tommy! In our case it is looking more like a labor less day. Here at 9:30 I am still on the back porch enjoying the sun and the breeze not to mention your blog. Congratulations on being selected by Barbie, and I did learn something new - I don't recall knowing about "Wrap it Up" but can sure see you doing that. I have to tell you that I loved the bra fitting story. I'm sorry I missed it the first go round so I could enjoy it all over again. You got so much more of Isaac than we did, but it could have been so much worse.

  6. So glad you are OK after Isaac. And I'm thrilled that Barbie is featuring you on her blog. Btw, did you know that Barbie and I got to meet in person? She was visiting some friends in Phoenix some time ago and we met for coffee.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

  10. My hubby is a big hunter, but it's not for me! First of all, I'm a big softie when it comes to killing animals. Secondly, I couldn't be quiet long enough as much as I love to talk! You so deserve being recognized as the Inspired Blogger! CONGRATS! Heading over to "meet" Barbie in a few!
