Joining up with Lisa Leonard today for Hello Monday.
A warm welcome.....
Do ya think that our front door might scream Mardi Gras? I love the colors of Mardi Gras and having been using this decor on our front door the past few years. I've never been to Mardi Gras and do not plan to ever go. Mardi Gras is defined as "a carnival held on Fat Tuesday, usually in New Orleans." Hummm, sounds innocent enough doesn't it. Well, that might or might not be so. It is generally a "wild" celebration where some folks act complete fools. But, as we know, it only takes a few foolish acting folks to ruin what might otherwise be a decent event. Anyway, my only connection to Mardi Gras is our front door and few festive decorations inside the house.
Gotta love a sale...
The entire outfit that my little Princess is wearing in the picture above was bought on big time sale after Christmas. I got the jumper and shirt for 50% off and got the adorable silver Uggs for about 60% off. I was so excited, especially over the Uggs. They are soooo expensive and I just would not pay the price they want for them. They are plenty big that she will be able to wear them next year as well.
My word for 2014.....
A lot of folks have been selecting a "word for the year" in recent years. Last year was my first year to have a word and it was "expectation" and it proved to be a good word for last year. After much thought, this year my word is "striving." Yes, I will be striving to be all that HE would have me to be in all areas of my life. I've found that if I'm not striving, I'm probably not growing in any area, in fact, I'm probably going backwards. So, looking forward to a "year of striving."
A true Southern lady....
Hubby and I had the honor of attending the 100th birthday celebration for one of the dearest women in our community. She is affectionately known as "Miss Lucy." She was Hubby's first employer, she hired him to mow her lawn when he was just a boy. They were across the street neighbors and she has had a love for Tommy ever since. She now resides in a nursing facility but she is still amazingly keen and a sheer delight to be around. Her family did an outstanding job honoring her and she was so deserving of such an affair. And, as you know, folks here in the South definitely know how to throw a celebration. ~smile~

Don't quite understand....
This will mean nothing to anyone except bloggers..... But, I have been blogging for almost 4 years and the general jest of blogging is visiting around to other blogs, leaving comments and generally building some kind of friendship with that blogger after a time. But, if the bloggers you visit NEVER stop by your blog in return, it doesn't work very well. I have quite a few blogs that I follow and really enjoy and their only response is through a reply to my comment via email. They have never visited my blog in return. ~boo! hiss!~ While I do appreciate their reply via email it's just not the same as visiting my blog and leaving me a comment of some sort. And, worse than that are the ones who leave a response in their own comment section. I mean, like I'm going to go back to their blog to check and see what their response was to my comment. ~Not!~ Maybe they are too busy or have all the blogging friends they want. And, I can certainly stop visiting their blogs and that might be exactly what I do. I think 4 years is plenty long enough to give someone to stop by. Okay, thanks for allowing me to get that off my chest.
I totally agree with you on the blogging situation. I prefer to continue the conversation by replying to comments (via email ... I mean, who is going to go back to the blog to see if the blogger responded ... I follow a good number of blogs and there's no way that I can remember who posted today, whose blogs I commented on, etc. ... ugh!!!) ... yet so many bloggers are still "no reply" ... and it seems like those are the ones I really have something I'd like to say to! Why blog if you're not going to interact!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood early morning....Love your colorful entrance. Oh my...about 10 years ago,my daughters and I made a business trip for my husband, down in the lafayette area. We found ourselves right smack dab in the middle of a big parade that lasted forever! Never again!!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you when it comes to blogging. I have soooo many that I visit and I never hear from them via email or comment. can be very disappointing. Hope you have a great day and that you see lots of sunshine...
First LOVE those uggs, my grand daughters would too! Oh, and I love your front door too...soo pretty and festive. And I too get frustrated with blogging comments sometimes. It seems as if I have only a few faithful visitors, and the rest pop in so occasionally that I think they must have dropped me. Then I notice that other bloggers get sooo many comments I have no idea how they must keep up. Sooo my answer has been I read where my interests take me, but only faithfully comment to those who reciprocate. I'd love to say it NEVER bothers me when bloggers ignore me, but then THAT wouldn't be truthful, haha. Oh, the joys of blogging! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteYour front door is to-die-for! Love the festive colors! I think we all understand the situation with blogging and commenting...we've all experienced the same thing. It is frustrating. Have a great day, Lea!
ReplyDeleteLove the door and I don't want to go to Mardi Gras either. What a cute outfit! Love your word for this year and the sentiment behind it. Happy Birthday to Miss Lucy. I agree, blogging is about friendships and communicating back and forth. Sharing in each others lives. Also, who has the time to go back to see if they commented to you comment on their blog. Like I would even remember. Also don't get me started on the no-reply's because of Google+!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing your Mardi Gras decor. So vibrant and colorful! If you are going to strive at anything, being all that God wants you to be is worth striving for! And, I totally understand about the blogging/comment thing. I've been a little busy lately and hope you are still following me :) I've made so many wonderful friends through blogging, but the love must go both ways! Have a beautiful week!
ReplyDeleteToday is my first visit to your blog, I jumped over from Lisa Leonard's place. Wow, what a special relationship God has allowed with Miss Lucy :) This is my third year with a 'word of the year' we'll see how this one plays out. It is always interesting to see what God does - Yes!?!?!
ReplyDeleteGreat Uggs, my grand daughters all love them too, but like you I won't pay the price. When I started blogging 3 years ago it was just for myself (I was literally a closet blogger) but as time has gone by I have found the best part of blogging is the friendships I have developed and the interaction between fellow bloggers...who would have thought?
ReplyDeleteHave a great day
Glad I stopped by to view that gorgeous door decor!! Love the colors and I'm with you, no desire to attend "the carnival"....
ReplyDeleteLoved the photo with Mrs. Lucy....sweet thing.
Hugs!
Oh, Lea! I am so glad you stopped by Finding Heaven. We've been blogging friends for quite some time! Since my husband is a Louisiana man, I am quite accustomed to the Mardi Gras colors. I have been once and that was definitely enough!
ReplyDeleteLea, I love your blog. I am inspired by you--your desire to serve the Lord with gladness.
ReplyDeleteThat front door is fantastic.
