It's another Wednesday and another Hodgepodge and it's all about fall today. Just the word "fall" gets me excited. It's a hard choice for me between fall and spring being my favorite times of the year. I'm sitting on "ready" for fall this year for sure.
1. It's fall y'all! Officially that is and in the northern hemisphere only, so if you're visiting from down under happy spring! Does it feel like fall where you live? Does it look like fall aka are the leaves beginning to change? What is your favorite fall color? Scent? Flavor?
It hasn't felt much like fall at all but if the forecast is correct, tomorrow should bring some fall temps with fall "feels." A few leaves have began to fall but thankfully there will be NO leaves in our yard. We have a treeless yard except for the cedar trees by the bank of the pond. We had enough leaves at our old house to last us the rest of our lives. The leaves have started slightly turning their colors but nothing significant. My favorite scent would be cinnamon and my favorite flavor pumpkin.
2. What's something you're not?
UNORGANIZED!!!! I came by my bent towards organization from both my Dad and Mom. They were both highly organized and structured and I truly have never known any other way. I thrive in an organized environment and struggle with unorganization. I am pretty much in control of the organization within our home and I have always run our household by these two mottos: "everything has a place and everything in it's place" and "don't put it down, put it up." It's really simple as far as I'm concerned.
3. Share a favorite quote related to fall and tell us why it's a favorite.
I love this quote because I truly do feel so invigorated and a bit like a "fresh start" when fall unveils itself. I'm waiting with baited breath right now.
4. Besides Thanksgiving, what's your favorite fall meal?
Oh, I do love fall food and for us that means, soups, stews, chili's, and gumbo with a side of cornbread. We eat more than our fair share of this type food beginning in fall and continuing through winter. I enjoy this type of cooking far more than any other cooking. What's not to like about a "one pot meal?"
5. Share a favorite photo you took last fall?
We always go to our daughter's in Oklahoma every October while she and the boys are on Fall Break. This was taken last year while we were there. Now, these 3 are sooo much bigger and Clancy will be 13 years old next week. What???? We look forward to seeing them very soon.

If you have been hanging around here very long then you know that I LOVE to bake cookies. And, I just baked what may be the most delicious cookie ever. It's the Almond Joy Cookie. I am giving you the recipe just in case you want to try your hand with them.
Your cookie recipe is one my husband would enjoy! We love anything with coconut!
ReplyDeleteCookie recipe looks delicious! I'll have to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI love an almond joy and anything coconut so will definitely give these a try. 13!! Why do grandchildren grow up at double the speed of our own children?? Enjoy your day...I just made a pot of tortilla soup for dinner. It's rainy so looks fallish out there, but still humid. The air conditioning gives me the illusion its cooler than it is lol.
ReplyDeleteThe cookies looks absolutely delicious! I am the only coconut lover in the family so I'm afraid I would eat all of them. Hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteI like your organization rules and try to abide by those myself... I also have one about not handling something more than once, whenever possible. I wish I could get excited about baking cookies again. It used to be fun to do 6 or 8 kinds during the holidays when there were folks around to help enjoy eating them. This recipe sounds delicious!! Thanks for sharing it! xo
ReplyDeleteI love that quote too; it's always nice to start fresh. We think of Spring as that time but for me, it is Fall.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cookie recipe recommendation. I need to add that to my collection. Almond Joy candy has been one of my favorites for a long time, so this cookie sounds good!
ReplyDeleteI love that quote. Your grandsons are super cute. Those cookies look good but I'd have to pass because I've never liked shredded coconut. I think it's a texture thing.
ReplyDeleteHello, friend...I lost track of you sometime back but I am so glad to see you blogging and joining in for Hodgepodge. Have pinned this cookie recipe for the very day I reach my Weight Watcher goal weight and can celebrate. I love the candies they are named for.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful visit next month with your daughter and grands in Oklahoma. My daughter and granddaughter will be here for a quick visit and I am thrilled. There are so many fun activities to do in the fall and the weather is pretty near perfect.
Perfect quote for fall Lea. The cookie recipe sounds wonderful. Your grands are darling. Happy Autumn.
ReplyDeleteAutumn, a magical canvas painted in warm hues, captivates with its gentle embrace. The crisp air carries whispers of change, as nature adorns itself in a vibrant tapestry of gold and crimson. Beneath the rustling leaves, there's a symphony of tranquility, inviting reflection and gratitude. The sun, casting a gentle glow, transforms every walk into a poetic journey. Cozy sweaters and pumpkin-spiced moments create a comforting rhythm, making autumn a season of serenity and subtle marvels. Embracing this fleeting chapter, we find solace in the beauty of transition and the promise of renewal.
