And, here it is, our 3rd Wednesday of the new year. What???? And, here it is, another fun Hodgepodge
1. It's National Popcorn Day-my favorite! Are you a fan? Sweet or salty? A good or great movie you've seen recently (at home or in a theater, either one)?
I would say I am an AVID fan of popcorn. I pretty much eat some every night of my life. Salty, salty, no sweet for me!
Hubby and I just got home today from being at our daughter's keeping the 3 Grandson's while she and her husband got away for a few days. I had the bright idea of us going to see American Underdog Sunday afternoon. I mean, why wouldn't a 2 1/2 and 6 year old enjoy it??? Well, they did enjoy the popcorn and slush but did get a bit restless and rightfully so. But, not so much so that Hubby, myself and Clancy (13 years old) didn't enjoy it. It was a great story!
2. What's something you didn't realize was going to take so much of your time as an adult?
Wow! what an interesting question...........There's no one thing, just a whole lot of daily things such as: cleaning, laundry, over seeing care of parents, cooking, keeping up with appointments and the list goes on. I'm not sure anyone really realizes the many responsibilities of "adulting."
3. Your favorite yellow something?
I thought off 2-3 things right off but the yellow rose would probably be a favorite. Roses of all colors are beautiful but there's something about the yellow rose that makes it extra special.
4. Why do you write?
I enjoy writing but about the only writing I have ever done is through my blog. I use to blog far more regularly than I do now but it became work and I wasn't enjoying it as much so I started blogging less often. Now, I'm trying to get back with more regular blogging but I haven't been successful just yet. ~chuckle~ Why I write, I guess because I enjoy it, no other real reason. ~ such a profound answer~
5. Share a favorite memory associated with snow.
I have no recollection whatsoever of snow when I was growing up. Surely it snowed at some point and my "older" brain has just forgotten. But, last February, we had the prettiest snow here. It was just enough as far as I'm concerned. Enough that the kids had a good time in it and it didn't close down roads but I do believe schools were closed for 2-3 days. I'm pretty sure I spent the time in the kitchen baking cookies. ~smile~
6. Insert your own random thought here.
As I mentioned earlier, Hubby and I got home around noon today from Oklahoma where we spent 4 days keeping the Gransons. Let me assure you that keeping up with a 13, 6 and 2 1/2 year old is not for the "faint of heart." My goodness, just their age difference presents it's own set of issues. Clancy loves his little brothers dearly but they can absolutely aggravate him too death. And, I wish I could say that he never aggravates them, but that would not be true. So, noise of some kind is generally always happening. ~smile~ I rarely stopped between meals, laundry, baths, and cleaning. I don't even know how they do it day in and day out and we were sure glad they could get away and leave their responsibility behind for a few days. Need I say that Hubby and I are enjoying the QUIET of our house this evening as we count our blessings and the memories of these past days.
It amazes me how some parents still jungle all their responsibilities with their children and I am thinking Shew how did I do that cause I am tired after keeping up with grandchildren. Happy for your time you spent with them.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you and Tommy were able to spend a few days not only with the boys but giving your busy daughter and SIL a break. You helped create memories for all of you, and blessed your sweet girl at the same time. Even though we always love our times away with family and friends, there is nothing like walking back into a clean, quiet house that is mine.
ReplyDeleteOh! It is crazy keeping up with young grandkids, isn't it? You love them to bits but they can tire you beyond what you expect.
ReplyDeleteLove your answers. Hope you have a great Wednesday- xo Diana
Oh boy, I understand the wear and tear of watching young grands for sure. What an adorable photo of them! Ahh the quiet and peace when your helping out is over! Yellow roses are lovely. Happy Hodgepodge to you!
ReplyDeleteWhat darling boys they are! I hope that you have lots of time to relax this week, Lea!
ReplyDeleteThe boys are SO cute!! I'm sure they enjoyed having their grandparents there for a nice visit! Memories made!! I want to see that movie. You are one of several friends who liked it. I like popcorn too!! xo
ReplyDeleteYour last graphic is great. It's so true.
ReplyDeleteLove the quote! I think it's fantastic that y'all can help out with the grandsons. Snow days are perfect days for baking cookies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet hodgepodge! So glad you got some time with the boys but I can imagine how exhausted you and Mr. were! But what a blessing you are to your family! You would’ve loved the beautiful snow we got this past week. We received the least amount of snow ever, normally we get inches in inches but I’ll take a little before spring time comes. Our son‘s girlfriend‘s favorite color is yellow, literally the only person I know who’s favorite color is yellow so I love finding things that bring her sunshine! Have a sweet weekend!
