Beautiful Days, Decorations and Company

Good Morning Company Girls, what a great week it has been here in N.E.Louisiana. The weather has just been absolutely gorgeous and I've been changing out the Easter decor for something that will likely remain out until time for fall.  As I've stated before, I don't do much decorating anymore except for our Kitchen Island and our Dining Room table. But, I sure do like what I came up for both.

I'm a big fan of Zinnia's and found these that were sort of paper-like and took them to a local florist and had them placed on a grapevine wreath. I thought the faux lemons, limes and strawberries looked nice with it and it brings a smile to my face every time I see it. ~laugh~  You know it doesn't take much for some folks!
I get a lot of my ideas from magazines that I glance through and that is where this idea for our Dining Table came from.  These are just clear glass cylinders with waded up lime green netting stuffed down in them and a fuzzy green ball placed on top. I have used these cylinders for so many decorating ideas and it tickles me that I only paid $3 a piece for them at TJ Maxx.Talk about a bargin!! I think the mirrored runner just adds to the beauty by reflecting the imagine.  A very nice look for just a little bit of expense (other than the mirrored runner and I've had it for years).  I bet even Martha Stewart would be impressed! ~chuckle~

It helped inspire me to know that we had company coming last week-end.  Hubby's sister and her husband came from Georgia and you know, it's always good to "impress" family. ~giggle~

We enjoyed their visit so much. The guys had their time on the golf course, we had our time enjoying a nice lunch and shopping.  And, all 4 of us enjoyed time visiting together.  The weather was perfect and that always makes for more fun. Our son and his family and my Dad and Step Mom joined us for dinner on Friday evening and my Strawberry Cake was a huge hit.  Just a simple recipe I got off the internet but Hubby told me it was the best cake I'd ever made. WOW!  Should you be interested in the recipe, click here.  I will add that it really needs no icing whatsoever, it just melts in your mouth, but if you have to have icing, go easy with it.

As you can see in the pictures, the azalea's were showing their smiling faces last week-end too.  Of course, company left Monday morning and  then it was back to the "real world."  But, it's been a great week without a lot of demands and a lot of time to just "be still and know."

Blessings to you Company Girls, may His face shine upon you and give you peace.  Happy week-end!

  1. Love your decorating ideas! Every time yiou show some, I wish I had the talent, or gumption, to do it at my house. Of course, the fruit would just become artillery for cooper, but that is beside the point!

  3. We're hoping for a sunny weekend here. We had more rain and a bit of hail even earlier this week.

I love your decorations. I love our kitchen island...I can't wait for the kids to be grown so we can have some real funriture and not worry about putting breakable things on that island.

Sounds like a wonderful week....hope the wonderfulness remains through the weekend...and beyond of course.

  5. What fun decorating ideas! We're in the middle of a kitchen remodel (not really by choice- there was a leak) and so all I'm doing is storing up ideas on how to decorate and make the house a home again once everything gets back together. Love the ideas! And love the spring you're having as I stare out the window at like 8 inches of snow!

  7. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

The colours of those flowers are just so ... juicy! They look great! I'm not surprised you smile whenever you see the strawberries, lemons and limes - I smiled too at the flowers :)

    Enjoy your weekend ...

  8. Wonderful decorations! Love them! I do like you and take ideas from things I see in magazines or on HGTV. Fun! Although I must say in recent years I've not done much with my decor. Home educating 5 kiddos doesn't allow for as much of that kind of dabbling as I'd like. ((SIGH)) Some day!

Sounds like a wonderful weekend with your family. Love the pictures! Y'all are just good looking!

    Have a blessed weekend!

BTW...my daughter danced at a Jazz festival at the shopping center where the cooking school is that you and your friends went to. I'm glad I know where that is now. Still sounds like fun to me!

I have a group of friends who are talking about going to a place together where we will all come out with a painting we did ourselves. Sounds fun. I am a bit skeptical. Not sure I'm capable...

  9. You have such a beautiful home CiCi, and you have been gifted to make it so! You are beautiful lady, and you and your husband make such a handsome couple! ~ My husband told me I should have put a picture of our new chairs on my post. I made that post late at night and didn't have a picture made yet. I'll try to get one up this week! Have a great weekend!

  10. Very nice blog and post!! Found you through another blog and glad I did. My oldest son went to LA Tech in Ruston. He went there for the Powerlifting team and loved his 5 years there. Back in Neb. at Grad school now. Which is very nice for me right now!! Miss my boys now that they are grown and not living with me, but very happy that the older two are doing so well. As every mother should, right?! :-)
