It's Labor Day and that means it's Monday and it will always be that way. I really wish that Christmas was that way. Thinking if it always fell on a Saturday it would likely work into people's work schedule much better and make it a tad bit easier on families getting together. Anyway, that's not going to happen and I'm babbling instead of saying HELLO! Here goes..........
HELLO Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt........ what's with all the sea salt caramel items these days. But, what's not to like about it and these little babes are the best and a cost of only 100 calories each. I love grabbing one for my nighttime snack. Am I the only one that HAS to have her nighttime snack. I mean, it has nothing to do with hunger and everything to do with habit. ~habits are hard to break~

HELLO new house progress.......they finished the rafters and started on the decking and again, I watched them long enough to snap a few pics and then left. It just makes me so nervous to watch them moving about that high area with such ease and confidence. The big picture is the back porch ~debating about screening it in~ and the bottom right picture is the front porch and entry. The shingles were delivered and they will probably start laying those this week. Then, we'll have a roof! ~yea!~ We had our first, of many, meetings with the cabinet man this past week and talk about decisions! Oh, my, I'm going around measuring everything that goes in drawers and cabinets so that I can get them as close to right as possible. And, we are about to finalize the windows and they will be ordered this week.

HELLO fall cooking and football........this past Saturday it rained "cats and dogs" all day long. Hubby was so glad that it was the beginning day of college football and he kept himself busy watching it pretty much all day long. I decided it was a good day for cooking so I threw together a pot of pintos with lots of seasonings, then added cooked ground sausage and a little rice. I made a pan of cornbread and it was the perfect dinner. This is my version of Red Beans and Rice, a good Cajun dish, but I always use pintos instead of red beans and I use ground sausage instead of link sausage. But, either way it is good! And, our Tigers win was "the icing on the cake."
~~~~~~
HELLO hunting season........yes, hunting season is just around the corner and Hubby says that preparing for "the hunt" is almost as much fun as "the hunt." Tommy is a BIG deer hunter and has over 50 years of experience. He knows the woods and the habits of deer like the back of his hand. No joke, he's probably one of the best hunters in "these here parts." And, he's patient and that's a trait that a good hunter has to possess. Anyway, I went with him this weekend and watched while he cleared out an area he'll be hunting. I just cannot see sitting in a stand , watching and waiting for just the "right one" to come out, and being still and quiet as enjoyable. But, hey, different strokes for different folks. And, he loves it and that's really all that matters!
Lea... Just put those frozen yogurt treats on my shopping list. Your new home looks like it is making progress. Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteMy mom, bless her heart doesn't go to bed wwitthout her.little. owl of graham ctackrrs and.milk. Isnt that cute?
ReplyDeleteGood luck to your team and your hunter!
Mmmm! I'm always looking for a new treat! Those yogurt pops look so good! Oh your house is coming along beautifully! Have a beautiful and blessed day.
ReplyDeleteYour house is really coming right along! Such an exciting time!
ReplyDeleteRed beans and rice ... haven't had that in a while ... think it's time to add that to my meal plan!
My vote is that you screen in the back porch. I hear there are plenty of critters in the South, so screening in would be my preference. We loved our screened-in pool in Orlando years ago. (But you do what makes you happy)
ReplyDeleteYour chili looks wonderful.... a perfect dish to enjoy while watching football. Our Colorado State Rams won over CU-Boulder (yeah!!!) and we also follow Alabama football. A good weekend for both teams.
Happy September!
Like you, I have to have a nighttime treat - can't wait to try the frozen greek yogurt. Your house looks amazing - seems to be going up quickly and fun to see it progress. My son in law is a hunter so I know when the season is coming…
ReplyDeleteI made beans and cornbread last week! We enjoyed football this weekend too :)
ReplyDeleteYour house is certainly coming along! Can't wait to see the finished product. I'm sure you will quickly make it a home.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Debbie
It's going to be a pretty house, I just know. Personally I'd screen in the back porch to enjoy the breeze but to try to keep out the "skeeters as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's NO way I'd enjoy sitting still that long waiting for ANYTHING to happen. Haha. Maybe it's why its predominantly a man's "sport."
My daughter and I were just talking about how we wanted beans and cornbread. I also use pinto beans too. Good luck to your hunter. Mine leaves tomorrow for his first hunting trip of the season. Blessings!
