Monday's Musings

Well, happy new week! Once Easter has come and gone, I scratch my head thinking about what kind of seasonal decor I want to use.  It's generally just little touches of spring/summer here and there but this year I decided I wanted to go with a "lemon theme."  I love lemons, well, maybe I should say I like the look of lemons.  They are such a great color and seem to always make me smile.

Once I started looking for lemon decor, it seemed to be everywhere.  I had no idea it would be so easy to find.

Between TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning, Sur La Table and Amazon I found any and everything I wanted.

I found everything except for a piece of artwork to go on my easel.  I contacted one of my most favorite vendors on Etsy, Sally Barlow of Makaio Design to see if she would paint me some lemons on a stretched canvas.  She was glad to do so and I could not have been more pleased.  I have at least 6 other 12 X 12 pieces of Salley's work that I use on this same easel throughout the year.  The background of the lemons is scripture.  It is just a lovely, lovely piece and it is the icing on the cake for my lemon decor.

If you have been reading my blog for very long then you know that our daughter and her husband raise and breed Welsh Pembroke Corgi's.  And, as you can tell from the above picture that Coleman is enjoying their recent litter.  All I can say is, "have mercy."  They sell them almost as quickly as they are born and it is absolutely amazing to me at the lengths folks go to to get them.  Bridget met a lady at the airport yesterday to pick one of them up.  The lady flew into Oklahoma City, picked up the puppy and then flew back home.  She not only paid top dollar for the dog but she paid airfare for herself and the puppy.  Goodness, that's wanting a dog really badly.  And, they have folks drive from hundreds and hundreds of miles away to get them.

This is Lola...........and she was not sold.  They decided they wanted to keep her to add to their 4 other Corgi's.  I guess the more you have, the better. ~chuckle~

  1. Well, the Queen doesn't think you can have too many! I just saw a clip of her boarding her plane with about 7 Corgis in tow! Seeing her Secret Service guys trying to round them all up was funny.
Your lemons look so fresh and pretty. Yes, how to decorate when Easter is over? Love how we can find all kinds of things online -- I love etsy. Hope you have a great week. xo Deborah

  4. There is just something soo fresh and cheerful about lemons, and decorating with them is a perfect idea for spring. I am going to check out that shop you mentioned to. The puppies are just adorable. Yes, it is amazing to me the lengths people will go to get a good pup, but it is just a fact in todays world. Enjoy your week!

  5. Lea I too love the lemon theme. Years ago I had a few ladies over for a get together and I decorated with the lemon theme. I'm a little sad right now though because the cold spell (the only one we had at that) got my little lemon tree. The puppies are adorable. I bet the grands love them. Enjoyed your post today. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  9. Lea...I think the lemon theme is such a great idea for spring and especially summer. You have certainly found some very lovely decor pieces and that painting is just FABULOUS! And oh my goodness, what sweet and adorable pups! I would probably get so attached I could part with any of them! I hope your week is off to a great start!

  11. Your post is VERY timely!! I'm taking down my Easter decor (hopefully today!) and trying to decide what to put up! I love the idea of picking a theme like you did with your lemons - so bright, happy and welcoming. For now, I think I'll pack away all things that say "Easter" and leave the "spring" items out. It's too early for my "summer" decor which is all beach-themed and not time for patriotic . . . I had to laugh about the lengths people go to for those adorable puppies! My husband never lets me forget that we drove two days in a blizzard to Minnesota (we live in Chicago) to get our Cocker Spaniel. They were closing the highways and we had to get off so as not to get stranded. Found a hotel, started out again next morning -- it was 11 degrees below zero! What was supposed to be a one day trip actually became almost three. But we adore her :)

  14. Your lemon decor is so pretty, Lea, and I love the painting on the easel. I just took down my Easter decor yesterday, as I just didn't seem to have the urge to do it until then. I replaced it with a bird theme, until I switch out for summer things.
Those corgi pups are adorable, and so are those cute boys!
