Summer Lovin' - TBB Asks

It's time for another TBB question and answer session.  It's all about summer.

TBB ASKS JUNE SUMMER LOVIN’

1. Walk or Bike Ride? Oh, think I'd just as soon walk at this point.  A bike wreck could cause me all kinds of misery at this stage of life.  Guess I'd rather stay safe than sorry.

2. Favorite Picnic Food? It has been so long since I've been on a picnic but as a child it was a regular occurrence for our family.  I remember Mom's homemade sandwiches being so good and of course, a side of potato salad is good as well. ~that is as long as it has been kept safe in refrigeration~

3. Pool or Lake? Definitely a pool.  Generally there are no any unwanted critters in a pool and in a lake it could be very scary.  Can you see a pattern here about safety. ~chuckle~

4. Favorite Flavor of ice cream? Well, guess this is crazy but plain ole vanilla is hard to beat in my book. A spoonful of slivered almonds is a nice topping for me.

5. Ice Cream Cone or in a Dish? I do enjoy a good sugar cone but prefer eating from a bowl and letting it sit a little while until it's real creamy. Yummy!

6. Flip Flops or Slides? Flip flops for sure as I have a narrow foot and I have never found a slide that would stay on my feet.  I can manage flip flops just fine.

7. Jean Shorts or Jean Capris?  Capris I suppose but a longer length short is just fine with me too and they make such cute and stylish ones now days.

8. Favorite summer Fruit? I love good cantaloupe and Hubby recently got one of the best at our local Farmer's Market.  I was so sweet and good.

9. Corn on the Cob or Cut Off the Cob? I love, love corn but just cannot stand eating it off the cob.

10. Favorite summertime song? George Gershwin's version of "Summertime and the Living Is Easy."

11. Favorite summertime activity? Easy living, just like the song says. ~ chuckle~

12. Favorite Berry? Strawberry, Blueberry, Raspberry or Blackberry? I'm not a fan of any berry by themselves but in recipes or fruit mixtures, I'd take any of these listed.

13. Bikini’s, tankini’s or one pieces? Oh, my goodness, hands down, a one piece and thankfully, it's a rarity for me to have any need for a swim suit at this point in my life. ~wink~

14. Dresses or Skirts? I do enjoy dresses in the summer, they are more comfortable to me than skirts and I'd really enjoy them even more if I had lovely tanned legs.

15. One Word to describe Summer? HOT!!!!! Yes, it has already reached 100 degrees here in NE Louisiana and that was before June 1st.  Ugh!  Looks like we are in for as hot of a summer as we were a cold winter.

Have yourself a great new week!

  1. LOVE your choice of favorite summer song! While I chose another that my girls and I have a tradition of singing on the last day of school, your pick is one of my all-time favorites as well! Your "vanilla" answer made me smile. My oldest daughter is a vanilla fan too. I remember taking her to an ice cream shop with a million flavors when she was small. When she chose vanilla the gal serving us basically begged her to choose from several other flavors, but there's nothing wrong with going for a scoop of your favorite! ;) Hope your summer gets off to a beautiful start, friend!

  2. So many good things here but I have to say I let my ice cream set out before I serve it because I like it a little melted too! I love a pool but you know I am a MN lake girl ;)! xoxo ERIN

  3. Would you believe that I bought my FIRST resealable bag of slivered almonds?? I like them, but I have never had a reason to buy them until I found a summer dip that I wanted to try and calls for them. I can take ice cream any day of the week! And YES! It is definitely HAWT here in Louisiana!!

  6. Good morning dear Lea, I do hope that you are feeling much better by now. Thought of you several times lady. So glad to be able to join you today.
    1. Walk or Bike Ride? I am with you totally on this answer Lea. WALK! Girl, I would be dangerous at this point of my life on a bike. LOL!

    2. Favorite Picnic Food? Fried chicken and it can be cold. I can remember when my girls were all growing up and we would go on picnics we always had fried chicken and potato salad with rolls. Of course we had tons of other snacky things too. As they got older we began to take sandwich stuff and would make sandwiches. I haven't done a picnic with the grands in a while. Maybe I need to drag out the picnic basket.

    3. Pool or Lake? Definitely a pool. Growing up I didn't know anything about a pool. It was the creek or lake and I didn't have enough sense to be afraid of the critters back then I don't reckon. I DO NOW though.

    4. Favorite Flavor of ice cream? Vanilla is my fav with butter pecan coming in 2nd.

    5. Ice Cream Cone or in a Dish? I love an ice cream cone.

    6. Flip Flops or Slides? Flip flops

    7. Jean Shorts or Jean Capris? Capris

    8. Favorite summer Fruit? Watermelon but it seems so hard to find a good sweet one and now the price is so high til it's crazy.

    9. Corn on the Cob or Cut Off the Cob? On the cob.

    10. Favorite summertime song? Hot fun in the summertime by Sly and the Family Stone.

    11. Favorite summertime activity? The beach is always on my list. But I enjoy gathering with my daughters and grands and going to my oldest daughter's home and enjoying her pool along with some good things to munch on and lots of talking.

    12. Favorite Berry? Strawberry

    13. Bikini’s, tankini’s or one pieces? Girl, it is a one piece all the way! I made a joke recently with my daughters. We had a little get together around my daughter's pool and the girls asked me why I did not bring my bathing suit. I said, "Well, I have been thinking about dragging out my old gold bikini out of the freezer! One daughter said, "Why would you have a bikini in he freezer? I said, "It's been there for years! I wanted to save it to see if one day I might could get back into it! LOL! Thought you might need chuckle for today.

    14. Dresses or Skirts? Dresses.

    15. One Word to describe Summer? Hot indeed! And mosquitoes. I have noticed already a few of those pesky small black ones humming around!

This was so much today dear Lea. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. Awe, Cindy, I am doing great now with only a slight cough. I think the antibiotic the Dr. put me on this time "killed" the bug for good. Enjoyed your answers so much!

  9. I am on the pool team for the same reasons. And trust me, a bike wreck at any age is no fun.

  10. This was so much fun. I tried to anticipate how you would answer each one and was pretty much spot on for each. Dick and I rode bikes while on Mackinaw Island. I was literally petrified when we first started because there were a lot of inclines and I was not used to hand speeds and brakes. We made it and it ended up being the favorite part of the trip.

  12. Agree with you a lot. I do love a pool, never been a lover of lakes. My love is the beach. Its been very hot here too. Today is the first day to feel normal for June, not so hot and low humidity. Happy summer......

  13. Like you, I am concerned about a wreck on a bike, so walking is my preferred mode of exercise. I've heard too many stories about those our age who met with a sorry mishap on a bike ride.

  14. I'm with you on the bike riding - I'm so afraid of falling and breaking a bone! Hope your summer won't end up being too hot - we're still waiting for some warm temps here!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ah yes...the good ol' summertime...and it's technically not even here yet. You say you have already had over 100 degree temps? WOW! Sounds like it's time to get out that bikini...LOL!

  16. Fun summer questions! I love canteloupe, too, but I have a hard time picking a good one.

  17. Hi Lea, I love these questions! We've been having the high 90's here and I love warm weather so much more than winter. I've generally been walking the last couple of years, though I love bike rides too(but don't want to chance falling). I love watermelon and all the berries listed. I'd take a lake, but a pool works just as good. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
    Hugs, Noreen
