And, it's time for another edition of the Traveling Totes. Miss Scarlett had a lot more excitement in her life this go around than the last. Her first real adventure was to Oklahoma in March to visit our daughter and her family.
Miss Scarlett was nestled between the two back seats holding our snacks for the 8 1/2 hour drive ahead. She did her job well.
Once we arrived at our hotel, Miss Scarlett rode very proudly on the luggage rack to our room. She was more than ready to get out from between the back seats. Poor girl!
Soon after arriving Bridget and I took Miss Scarlett out for a little shopping.
We took her to brunch at the cutest tea room one morning and she definitely fit right in. Scarlett's first trip to Oklahoma was a winner for sure!
~~~~~~
Scarlett's next trip was Des Moines, Iowa and, bless her heart, she was stuffed in my suitcase for this trip. I was afraid she was too big to go under the seat and I do not put things in the over head bin, just sort of goes against my grain. So, I didn't want her to miss the trip, thus she had to go in my suitcase. Poor baby!
But, the next morning the two of us were raring to "go and do" with my sister in law.
We met up with my niece and she was introduced to Miss Scarlett and we stopped by a cute, cute shop called, The Funky Zebras. Where folks come up with names such as this is beyond me but it sure catches your attention. And, that's likely the intention. ~smile~
Later that afternoon we met up with my precious blogging friend, Erin. We enjoyed coffee and dessert and became acquainted with each other. It's always such a special treat to meet a blogging friend in "real" life. And, of course, she got to meet Miss Scarlett too. ~a double treat~
On Saturday, my brother, SIL, niece and myself loaded up and drove to Orange City to see my nephew in a play there at the university he attended. (he graduated a couple of weeks ago) And, as you can see, there was still mounds and mounds of snow on the ground. Thankfully, the temps were cool but not "bone chillin'" as they had been the previous week.
~~~~~~
Scarlett's next trip was to New York City. And, once again, she went in my suitcase as she's pretty big when she's full and too heavy to have to worry with as I trot through the airport and too big to go under the seat. Bless her heart, she's deprived but hopefully she'll forgive me. I did take out to eat one night and she loved getting out and about. And, everyone thought she was so cute!
I hate to report but Scarlett didn't get out much at all during our stay in NYC, because, once again, we were walking, walking and walking and it was rainy, rainy. I knew she would be too big and bulky to carry all day and way to big for the subways and Ubers. I had visions of toting her all around The Big Apple but, that did not happen.
I really wanted her to go with me to the flagship McKenzie-Childs store. I mean, that was where she might have once resided. I loved everything in the store and did buy a cute little miniature enamel compote in the black and white check. I absolutely love all the black and white checked items but have absolutely no where in my house to really use any of it. What fun it would be to have a kitchen done in all of it. The dishes are just gorgeous! Everything in the store had all of us oooing and ahhing, the lamps, the furniture, the pillows, the linens. I think most of us left with something in our cute MC bags.

Come
along and travel with:
I was honored to meet Scarlett and YOU when you visited. Looks like you have had the bes time this spring traveling :)! xoxo ERIN www.simplepurposefulliving.com
ReplyDeleteMiss Scarlett is almost as beautiful as you are! Such fun you’ve been having pretty lady!
ReplyDeleteShe's a mess for sure but we've become pretty good buds over the past few months. Happy weekend Andrea!
DeleteI’ve been wondering when Miss Scarlett was going to make another experience! Fun times! I think you should post about what is inside Miss Scarlett. Do you use her for a purse? Do you use her as a shopping bag? Loved this post and have a happy (hot!) Weekend!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I use her mainly as a tote and she's so BIG and can be very heavy as she's made out of leather, so I do not take her near as much as I should. I do use her for a shopping bag when we travel by car. I keep all my purchases inside her. Yes, it is very HOT!
DeleteLea, I love the traveling totes series! Miss Scarlett and you have been extremely busy on fun trips! What a fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun trips! I'd say Miss Scarlett is well traveled! I agree about toting these gals around. For one thing. museums often won't welcome our big girls! In fact, Miss Merri Mac stayed home this spring and let Miz Checkerks do the traveling.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing all the cute photos.
I hated not to tag her along more on my NYC trip but it was just not possible due to her weight and size. I do much better with her when I travel by car. Happy weekend!
DeleteLooks like fun trips Lea. These totes do hold a lot of great things to bring home after doing a lot of shopping. Sorry the weather was raining while you were in NYC but looks like you didn't let it dampen your fun. Glad you got to see the NYC shop while you were there. Your post leaves me wanting to book a trip there:) Have a great weekend..........
ReplyDeleteYes, they are such big totes and that's good and bad. I hated leaving her behind so often in NYC but she's just too big and heavy to carry for long periods of time. Happy weekend!
DeleteHelloooo Miss Lea! It looks as though Miss Scarlett has been having the time of her life. You look so darn cute in every pic, dressed to the nines. I think Miss Scarlett is almost as big as you!! I love hearing about your adventures and Nyc sounded like it was a blast. Hope you and Miss Scarlett have a chance to catch your breath this weekend!
ReplyDeleteMiss Scarlett sure had a lot of fun with you Lea! Yes, the totes are large - I was surprised when Miss Madi K arrived, but I sure know how to stuff her full. Miss Madi K got to go to the MC store in NYC, but she wasn't allowed at the theater - Cursed Child was very strict on bags - why I am not sure, but they let you know ahead of time - no large bags or backpacks!
ReplyDeleteWell, you guys just look adorable wherever you go! Thanks for taking us along.
Well, Scarlett didn't go with me to the theater while we were there but they did check all bags that came through. What a shame that it's come to that.
DeleteMiss Scarlet has been very busy. She more well traveled than I am...LOL Happy Weekend, Lea! XO
ReplyDeleteMiss Scarlett has been making the rounds. Too bad the weather was so rainy. I must say you look fabulous in every photo. Shopping is quite handy with our totes. Between you, Katie and Rita, the totes are almost as big as you all. Wow, I sounded southern! LOL. Loved seeing you and Miss Scarlett's fun adventures. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks Linda. Yes, Scarlett is very handy but she sure gets heavy when she's full. Have a great new week Linda!
DeleteYou and Miss Scarlet sure get around! And you look SO stylish doing it. I need you to come help me rejuvenate my closet!!! Of course, I wouldn't need your sweaters and furs right now...it's been in the 90s here!!!! I love the idea of the traveling bags...so much fun.
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks for that sweet compliment. It's hotter than hot here now too. So, it's cool clothes for now.
DeleteWhat a FUN way to create a blog post!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading about others travels but this tote series is so cleaver!
Great fun!
Lea, Miss Scarlet is bigger than you are! If you ever need a quick hiding place and she is around, you could just curl up inside of her! Cute, cute post!
ReplyDeleteLea, you and Miss Scarlett did make some rounds this quarter! I know exactly what you mean by her heftiness, especially when full. She makes my neck hurt, and Mr. P. oftens locks her onto his rolling carry on.
ReplyDeleteLove Miss Scarlett in the tea room - she could get lost in there!
Happy travels this summer!
Lea, you are just such a doll every day but especially with your Miss Scarlett. I think you should do fashion posts!
ReplyDeleteOh, Stacey, what a sweet compliment. I enjoy fashion posts but not sure I would even know where to begin. :o))
DeleteI think it's a great idea to pack your tote for a flight Lea, I agree, much too heavy to lug around too far though when it's full! I am so jealous you got to visit the MKC store in NYC, I know it was packed with temptations. You and Miss Scarlett have had some wonderful adventures!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Lea...FYI, she does fit under the seat on an airplane (Miss Kenzie has parked herself there quite often!!) I do agree that she is quite cumbersome for dragging around NYC (I don't know how our group did it last fall!!) It looks like the bag you have is "coated" canvas, some are not coated, and yours seems to keep its shape well. I love all of your pics and travels, and thanks for letting me come along for the ride!! Happy Summer!
ReplyDeleteWell, we have to take "puddle jumpers" for the first leg of all of our flights because our airport is so small. She wouldn't come close to fitting under those seats but she definitely would once we make our connecting flight. It's a pain when you live in a small area. :o))
DeleteI would love to visit the mother ship! Is the Manhattan store beautiful? And ditto to what Patti said about the totes.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a great summer so far! We'll be visiting Baton Rouge later in the summer.
xo,
RJ
Ditto to what Patti said! Glad you and Miss Scarlett are having some quality time. I look forward to your next adventures! NYC is always a blast! Enjoy your summer Leah.
ReplyDeleteLea, you look like a model in all your pics. Your adventures sound like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteYou look so poised in all the pics Miss Scarlet doesn't look heavy at all!
