It's Hodgepodge time!
1.Describe your 30's in one sentence. If you're not yet 30 tell us one thing you hope to accomplish once you hit that particular decade.
"Knee deep and rising" in child rearing. ~a wonderful time of my life~
2. Is it harder for you to exercise or eat healthy?
Well, I exercise 5 out of 7 days but it is not some grueling workout by any means. I walked on the treadmill for probably 30 years and then a couple of years ago I switched over to the elliptical and I just hope that this form of exercise has and will continue to do me some good. As to healthy eating, well, I think I do pretty good in that area but I'm sure I really do not if judged by "the authorities."
3. June 7th is National VCR Day. Huh? Anyway this reminded me of something I saw on Facebook listing household items we no longer have and the VCR was on it. I couldn't put my hands on that list, but found another list here of 21 items we all had ten years ago, but which are now obsolete-
bookshelves (WHAT!!???), drip coffee makers, alarm clocks, file cabinets, desktop computers, printers, printed phone books, answering machines, fax machines, paper shredders, a Rolodex, CD racks, CD burners, china cabinets, home phones, entertainment consoles, DVD players, calculators, takeout menus, incandescent light bulbs, and cable TV
Your thoughts? How many on the list do you still have? Still use?
Well, my goodness, I still have quite a few things listed above .....I still have a desktop computer but I have had the "all in one" for the past several years, no more ugly towers for me. And, we have a home phone, an answering machine, a fax machine, a paper shredder, a calculator and cable TV. I mean, I had no idea that these items are obsolete and I have a feeling that there are a whole lot of others folks that still own these as well.
4. What's something you see disappearing in the next ten years?
Well, since I had no idea about the above items being obsolete right now, then I likely have no idea what will be obsolete in the next 10 years. I'm pretty sure that a lot of businesses as we know them now will be totally internet businesses. And, who knows what else!
5. How did you celebrate your birthday this past year? Is that typical?
My birthday is July 29th so that was almost a year ago and I'm not even sure what I did to celebrate my 65th. I don't think it was a big celebration but I'm quite sure I enjoyed the day. I'm just glad for every birthday I am blessed to have at this point.

Hubby and I are celebrating 47 years of marriage today. I was a mere 18 year old and thankfully, he was 24 years old. If he had not been, we might not have survived. He moved me 1000 miles away from my parents and brothers and there was no such thing as cell phones or email and we were poor as church mice. That meant I got to talk to my parents about 15 minutes every 2 weeks and I wrote a whole lot of snail mail letters. ~those were the days~ But, the Lord has blessed beyond our wildest imagination, two awesome children, 4 precious Grans, a successful business that Tommy built from the ground up, and family and friends that we've made a boatload of awesome memories with. It's been an exciting ride for sure and hopefully that ride will continue on for many more years.
NOTE: I continue to be sooooo aggravated with Blogger over their new "rules and regulations" and it has taken so much fun out of blogging. I miss not getting my comments via my email and find it so very difficult to go back to my blog to see comments and then responding to comments is even more difficult. And, being a "no reply blogger" stinks and I'm just not happy. Okay, just had to get that rant out of my system!

DeleteI agree with you about blogger. Why did they make the change, or did Google force it? I am contemplating moving to Wordpress, but it sounds daunting. Happy Anniversary to you and your hubs! Wishing you many more happy years together!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what's going on but heard they are trying to fix it, but who knows. I have given WordPress a thought too but just hate to have to relearn the whole process. Ugh!
DeleteI remember you and Tommy in your first little house and you complimenting me on my wardrobe. It was quite the compliment to me as you were already the fashionista. Happy Anniversary to you and Tommy. And, as you know, I agree with your comments about blogger, but Wordpress scares me. So will probably endure the changes and stay with it. Woe is us! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, I remember us keeping John and Christy one evening while you and Dick went somewhere. Oh, my goodness, that was a few decades ago.
DeleteI loved seeing the photos of you and your husband. Changing hairstyles, are they ever? You are just as pretty now as you were when you got married. Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteOh, Debbie, you are so kind. Yes, I've had every hairstyle known to mankind. Never stuck in a rut for sure.
DeleteWishing you a happy 47th wedding anniversary today, Lea. Love all your throwback photos too.
ReplyDeleteI think my 30's were wonderful too. Keep it up, nothing better than exercise and eating right. (Of course we must all cheat from time to time) I have most of those items too and I'm not giving up on them until I have to. Happy Anniversary!! If you are the first one to post a comment on you post and check the little box for follow up comments they will come into your email as no reply. From there you can click on the person's name and most everyone has their email listed. It's not fun but it works for now. Or you can click reply and put in the person's email. If you comment with them all the time their email should come right up.
ReplyDeleteYes, but I just hate getting use to something different when everything was working just fine. :o)) But, it will have to work until Blogger gets it figured out and I do hope that's soon. We shall see!
DeleteHappy Anniversary! It was fun to see the evolution of hair and fashion through your marriage. My husband is 4 years older than me and it was a good thing for us, too, as I was only 20 and we moved 1000 miles from home. I went from being an only child to suddenly having 5 sisters-in-law who took me right in as a sister and some days it was wonderful and some days I wanted to run those 1000 miles back home just to get some personal space!
ReplyDeleteIt is so amazing how we stuck it out and kids today will just throw in the towel, get a divorce and start over. Guess they must think the grass is greener on the other side. :o)) Blessings!
DeleteHappy anniversary! I married at 18 also, but my husband was also 18! Going on 43 years now!
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute!
ReplyDeleteExercise I’m sure has helped you keep young but being happy is another factor!
Congratulations!!
Well, thank you Christine! Yes, happiness is a whole other issue and has nothing to do with food, exercise or money but from the dear Lord who is owner of it all. Blessings!
DeleteI haven't noticed anything with Blogger & I just checked my settings; nothing seems to have changed.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!!! Getting married at 18: WOW! I had no clue about ANYTHING when I was 18!!!
I enjoyed all of those adorable pics of you and your hubby! Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!! I loved reading all you shared here! I'm sure all those snail mail letters you wrote back then would be such a joy to read now! My heart is full for you, sweet friend, with all the beautiful blessings God freely gives!
ReplyDeleteI'm so with you on being upset that Blogger isn't sending emails now! Such a bummer!
Happy Anniversary! Ours was last Saturday. 17 years.
ReplyDeleteI am frustrated with the blogger rule changes too. I don't know what to do to make my blog to be following the rules.
Happy belated Anniversary you beautiful people!! I hope Mr. Nine and I make it to 47! half way there, lol!! Keep on celebrating right through this weekend! And I ditto your sentiments on blogger, this whole thing is privacy for overseas, we're Americans!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Anniversary and a big congratulations to boot! I miss the email notifications of comments as well. boo! I feel like I'm missing sweet messages that bring a little extra sunshine to my day. Thank you for sharing this fun post! :)
