2. What was the last song you listened to? Your favorite movie soundtrack? What song always puts you in a good mood?
It was one of the old hymns but I can't remember which one. I listen to the old hymns by John Troutman on my Alexa almost every morning. They are so soothing and inspiring for me and a great way to begin my day.
I have many favorites but GREASE was the first one that popped into my mind. I can probably still sing along with every word of every song.
Outside of the old hymns, any song by Lionel Richie can lift my spirits and bring a smile to my face.
3. What were you doing ten years ago?
Well, this was fun. I looked back through my photos from May 2013 to see what I was up to. It appears that was when I tried my hand at chalk painting. I had 2-3 items that I tried it on and it proved to me that I AM NOT A FAN. I did enjoy doing the items but they were all left at our old house and were a part of the estate sale that happened after we moved. I'm pretty sure chalk painted furniture is still a very popular thing but I am just way too traditional and LOVE all my mahogany, walnut and cherry furniture. It almost grieves me to think that one day every piece of it will likely be chalk painted by someone after I'm gone to my heavenly home. Oh, well, at that time it will not matter a bit!
4. Your favorite no-bake summer dessert?
Millionaire Pie
5. Something you're looking forward to in June?
I'm hoping that June will bring total relief to the muscle spasms between my shoulder blades caused by my recent neck surgery. I have done so well but these spasms are NO joke. Thankfully they are getting better and my Dr. assures me that they are just a part of the healing process and will go away. I am 5 weeks post op tomorrow so I'm probably expecting too much too soon. I do have medication to take and when they are really bothering me I do take it. I'm just trying to keep my eye on the prize and am more than just a little thankful that I can go on about my day to day activities. I still modify the way I do some of them, but oh, it could be so much worse.

I had kind of forgotten about Millionaire Pie. I will have to make that sometime this summer. The world is changing so fast and its easy to feel anxious for our grands. I remind myself daily that God has placed them in this time and this place and has His hand on them. I'm so glad you had a wonderful visit with your daughter. I look forward to a girls weekend with my own one day when their littles are a bit older. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to spend time with your daughter! Millionaire Pie...oh yeah..I love this. I, too, worry about the world my grandsons are going to be growing up in...just too fast pace with all the tech stuff for me.
ReplyDeleteI have often thought about going to visit my parents without my husband or the kids but I always feel bad about it. Maybe one day I'll get over it!
ReplyDeleteI may take your Millionaire Pie recipe and see if I can convert into a calorie friendly version. It looks so good and would taste so good on a hot day! I love the pictures of you with your daughter and I'm so glad you had some time with just her!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice post - I'm sure a uninterrupted visit with your daughter was wonderful. Glad you were able to have that time together.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! I am so glad you had such a great time with your daughter (and she with you!). Joyce gave us another fun Hodgepodge! I ask Alexa for hymns in the mornings too!! Hugs!
ReplyDeletePraying that the neck spasms ease up as you continue to heal! How wonderful that you could have the precious one-on-one time with your daughter. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter Angie, and I are on our way to the Junk Ranch in Prairie Grove. We have not had time alone together in a while!!! It is special to spend that time.Glad you had time too! When my kids ask what I want I tell them Time! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI miss having time with my daughter even though she only lives about four miles from me. She's just so busy with her kiddos and her job. Her husband has gotten a promotion which will mean he's home more to take some of the load off. I would love a weekend away with her.
ReplyDeleteOh, I had to chuckle at the chalk painting. I went through that phase about eight years ago. I only painted furniture I'd bought off Craigslist. I know my golden oak and cherry furniture will go the same route as your wooden furniture some day! But, I keep hearing wood is back in so who knows!
Have a wonderful weekend!

That Millionaire Pie makes my mouth water! So glad you had such a good visit with your daughter. The two of you photograph very well!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I can't believe I'm just now getting around to commenting on last weeks posts...yikes. Your choice for #2 was a good one. I looked back to my photos as well from 2013..it was fun. Praying for your spasms to go away. I'd have to pass on the Millionaire pie since I'm not a fan of coconut and don't care for pineapple in desserts..haha.
