Lea's Daybook - Friday, April 10th

It's a Daybook sort of Friday and it's always fun to link up with Peggy to share
bits and pieces of my day.

Outside my window...the sun has not shown its face just yet and is probably trying to decide if it is or not.  Rain is lingering on the horizon and some of us are hoping and praying that it heads out California way.  We've had our share and more.

I am thinking...of everything I possibly can to make our eventual move as easy as possible.  But, I'm afraid that no matter how hard I try, it is going to be an overwhelming task.  I've decided that if folks moved about every 10 years instead of every 34 years that it would be a far cry easier.~surely it would~  I'm trying very hard to tell myself that it will just take time to get the boxes unpacked and everything into it's proper place.  I am being very deliberate in the way I am marking the boxes so that I will know exactly what is inside of them.

I am thankful...for a husband that is very detail oriented.  He has missed hardly a "trick" in the building of our new house.  As he said not too many weeks ago, he would likely be a whole lot better off if he didn't know so much about construction and the right way to do things.  But, it has paid off in big ways and there's really no way to do things except the RIGHT way.

I am wearing...some jean capris and a grey dolman top and flip flops.  It's so nice to be out of sweaters, cuddle duds, coats and the like.

I am creating...a list of things to be taken care of before we move.  Things like calling the moving company to find out exactly how that is handled, changing addresses on a bazillion things, and the list goes on and on.

I am going...Hubby and I are attending a Marriage Enrichment conference at our church this evening and tomorrow morning.  It has been in the works for months and months but still has a very few couples attending.  A highly regarded couple is leading it and I'm sure it will be a blessing to all those of us that do attend but it's a shame that a whole lot more aren't participating.  They may think it's a sign that their marriage is in trouble if they attend but that is far from the truth.  If one's marriage is in trouble then they likely need counseling, not a conference.  There's not a marriage that I know of that could not use some enriching.

I am hoping...that my Dad is going to gain some bit of vision improvement from his cataract surgery he had 10 days ago.  He hasn't gained any yet, but the Dr. said with his other eye issues and extreme dry eyes, that complete healing will take longer.  I will take him back the first week of May for a vision test and the Dr. is hopeful that there will be some kind of improvement.  Daddy is really taking it in stride and that's a big plus.

I am learning....and relearning that the grapevine is not a reliable source of information, never has been and never will be.  If it doesn't come straight from the "horses mouth" then we probably should be very cautious about how much we believe, even if it's spoken as the truth.

In my kitchen...I've almost worn out our new George Foreman grill making hot sandwiches.  That's the main reason I got it and we have not been disappointed in the least.  My favorite is cheese, bacon and turkey on wheat bread.
I could live off of hot sandwiches but Hubby can reach his limit a bit quicker. ~smile~

A favorite quote for today...
I love this quote and try to remember it when the going gets tough or the day just doesn't go the way I intended. Like the song I use to sing when I was a little girl, "I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, where, down in my heart, down in my heart to stay!!!

A peek into one of my days...
My days start between 5:15-5:30 and it's straight to the coffee pot I go.  Then it's off to my blue chair for my quiet time, then a shower and making up this face of mine.  I'm usually on the treadmill around 6:45 and then getting ready for the day ahead.  I generally run errands in the morning and the afternoons are filled with simply being at home, visiting my Dad or whatever my heart desires.

One of my favorite things...is hearing the sweet cooing sounds of our little Andi Kate.  She will be 2 months old on Saturday and is so precious and becoming more and more aware of her surroundings each day.

From the board room...
This is from my Fashion Pinterest board.  I am seeing so much of the soft aqua color right now and I love it. This is by Free People and "only" $220.  And, it's a one size fits all which to me means, "one size fits none."  I cannot stand that and especially for that price.  My goodness, I'll have to keep looking.  But, it's still so, so pretty.

Post Script....
If you are into doing creative labels (of every shape, size and description) , invitations, bulletins, brochures and such, then, if you haven't already, you need to visit Avery.com.  The  sky is the limit and you can create an online account and keep all your projects right there.  AND, it's all FREE!!!
 A picture worth sharing........
Our little cowboy was at his other Grandparents last weekend.  They have a cattle ranch in Oklahoma and Clancy got his first taste of "working the cows."  It agreed with him perfectly and he is now an official "cowhand."  How and when did he get so big?

  1. My sister and I 'dubbed' the Free People brand 'Free THE People' . . . like, from your exorbitant prices! teehee. It is a pretty top though. Have a great weekend!

  2. I completely agree with you about attending marriage conferences. A year ago we went to the one put on by Family Life Today with Dennis Rainey. It was excellent and fun! We were the longest-married couple there (43 years at the time).

  4. Hi Lea, So sorry for my lack of blogging, I too have been so busy. I know you are so excited to soon be in your new home! I too was very specific about tagging my boxes, and it made it so much easier when I was unpacking.
I so agree about the marriage enrichment conference, after many years of marriage Dh and I never take for granted our relationship, and found that we work on it everyday, and just last year attended one at our own church.
I will be praying for your father's cataract surgery, my sister just had one of her eyes done, has 20 20 and will be getting the other removed this week.
What a cute cowboy you have there. ~smile~
    Blessings,
    Sue
