Okay, Company Girls, I've been looking forward to this entry all week long! I cannot wait to share with you about meeting another Company Girl last Saturday.
I'll refer to her as Lydia Cate since that is the name she uses on the internet. Of course, she's the "cute as a button", "pretty as a picture" gal (on the right) in the above picture. Lydia Cate has been leaving comments on my blog for almost a year and since she is not a blogger herself, I could never respond to her sweet comments. A few weeks ago I decided to put a Facebook badge on my blog. Well, within a couple of days I had a message from none other than Lydia Cate. I was so excited I could hardly see straight. At last, I could "connect" with this sweet gal.
Last Friday I received a message from her via FB telling me that she was going to be within 25 miles of me on Sat. and wondered if we might meet for lunch. Well, you know, there's so much "out there" about meeting folks on the internet and them not being who they say they are and all that other stuff. So, being the cautious person that I am, I had to do some checking out before I would commit to such a meeting. I won't bother you with all the details of that, but just let me say, Lydia Cate and I had a good time laughing about it over lunch Saturday. And, LC lives a very "doable" distance from me and we're hoping to meet again sometime. I'm already looking forward to that time.
Lydia is such a precious gal, she is a wife, the mother to 4 daughters and 1 son and another baby girl due to arrive in about 4 weeks. She home schools, operates a home business and keeps her sanity in the midst of it. ~chuckle~ But, most importantly, she desires to serve the Lord and be a testimony to Him in all that she does. Ah, it was such a blessing to meet LC and to now count her as one of my friends. By the way, we found we had so many connections, one being that her husband's Grandmother went to church with us up until her death 2 years ago. It really is a small world! Lydia Kate did assure me that if she ever finds the time, she will definitely start blogging. Don't you know she'll have some great "blog fodder" by that time. ~wink~
Switching gears a bit.........this week-end our family will be celebrating two very special birthdays.
One will be the 2nd birthday of our #1 Grandson tomorrow. It is hard for me to believe that two years have already gone by. I so well remember the day that he made me a Grandmother. I was tapping away on my laptop computer and
talking away on my cell phone down in the hospital lobby while he was making his entrance into this world. My job was to keep everyone informed of the progress of things and I did just that and enjoyed every minute of it. What a blessing this little fella has been to our family. He really has no idea how much he is loved!
The other birthday is our son, he will celebrate #34 on Sunday. He made his grand entrance on a Sunday morning. He has grown into such a wonderful young man that has made his Dad and Mom very proud. He is now Dad to the most precious little girl that will also be celebrating a birthday this coming week, her 1st one. (we'll hear more about that next week)
Always, always enjoy my Friday's with Company Girls , and I really hope that I'll have the privilege of meeting more of you "face to face." Happy weekend!

How wonderful and sweet that you were able to meet Lydia Cate!!! That is AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteI am still so jealous I could not have met Lydia Cate with you! I am so glad you all had a nice visit. I think we need to plan a little girl's weekend after the baby is born!
ReplyDeleteYa'll have been doing a lot of celebrating and I know you have loved every minute of it! Enjoy the next birthday...you are very blessed!
Isn't it wonderful to meet blog friends in person? And to find out you live close enough to make this more than a one-time thing - heaven!
ReplyDeleteAbout seven years ago I went to Toronto for a four day quilt retreat with twenty-some other women, the retreat arranged through a quilt message board. Most of us had never met any of the others. I was to meet one woman in the Toronto airport, and we were then picked up by two others and we all drove an hour north to the retreat center together.
We all had a blast.
Never heard of Company Girls! will click on the link. How nice you got to meet.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to meet a fellow blogger. I met two in the same week==including Rachel Anne at the Dallas FT Worth airport for a whole 52 minutes between flights! And another , Laurie, of Tulip in the Thicket blog, who lives in Kansas not far from my bff. Like you, we had a connection = her parents knew my grandparents in the same church. What are the odds?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your celebrations. I look forward to being a grammy someday. Maybe I'll go by ZZ instead of CiCi:)
What a great week! I'm so glad you got to meet LydiaCate. She's been such a sweetheart "virtually" so I'm sure she's all the more in person!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthdays to your family! :)
What a nice thing for both of you to have lunch! I was just commenting on a friends blog about how nice it would be to meet... but I'm a long way from most of you! Enjoy your celebrations this week!
ReplyDeleteBlessings on your day!
How neat that you could meet the sweet woman behind the keyboard! You both look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed meeting Jhona, another Company Girl, earlier this year. It's wonderful to be able to add that third dimension when getting to know someone.
I just want to say thank you for your encouraging words on my blog today. I have my good moments, and then there are the sad ones. It's a strange concept to feel joy and sadness all at once. I know that God will walk me through this, and it's comforting to know that one day I will see my dad in heaven.
ReplyDeleteOn a brighter note, I love Lydia Cate too! Wish I could meet her in person, but getting to know her through her comments on Home Sanctuary has been just wonderful. :)
Have a great weekend!

That is so great you were able to meet her. I have to say, I'm a little jealous! If you ever find your way to Texas, you'll have to let me know!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome that you got to meet Lydia! And I know what you mean about time flying with the grandchildren. My first grandson will be 4 in January, and my second will be a year old next month. I can't believe it! They've captured my heart, and I've never been the same since they came along.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous that you got to meet Lydia Cate! She is a wonderful commenter on many of our blogs. How wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI met a fellow blogger today for the first time too...
What a fantastic time!!!! And happy birthdays all around.
ReplyDeleteOh and I forgot...too funny (probably not to you at the time) about the squirrel. I can't imagine what I would do if that happened here. We usually don't see many animals around when we're actually outside.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to meet a blogging friend! You are both gorgeous! I hope to be able to do the same in the future - I have "met" so many amazing women - including you of course! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sweet and encouraging comments. They are very dear to me! I hope that you're having a fantastic weekend celebrating two very special birthdays! I love that picture of you manning the phone/computer. Precious! I'm going to check out Company Girls...intriguing! It is late though so I will have to do it tomorrow after church :) Good night!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lea for your sweet words. What a treasure to be able to say we are friends! It amazes me how the Lord continues to enrich my life with such wonderful Godly women I have the honor to call friend. I remember Rachel once asking us if we'd ever be up for a Company Girl weekend, conference, get together...I think the answer is YES!!!
ReplyDeleteI love reading about all your birthday celebrations! What a beautiful family you have. You are a sweet mom and CiCi to make everyone's birthday so special. Isn't it fun to build memories that will last a lifetime? Thanks for sharing your family with us.
Blessings sweet friend!
Cathy/LydiaCate
I was so excited to hear about your lunch visit with each other! How I wish I could have been there with you two! Your photo shows just how beautiful you both are - inside and out. What a cool thing to find "sisters" online through these silly blogs. Not so silly, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the day that I will get to meet both of you. Still working on that CG get-together...need to find a way to do it that is affordable and doable. Ideas???
Happy birthdays to those boys - what a blessing.
