Hodgepodge Wednesday

1. What is the most interesting thing you've done in the last year? I had a professional bra fitting back in June and it was without a doubt one of the most interesting things I've ever done in my life.  My daughter and I did it together and that made it even more interesting.  I have an entire blog entry on the experience and if you are interested in reading it and need a good laugh, click here.

2. What is your most meaningful family heirloom? Well, I have several heirlooms that mean a lot but one is definitely a piece of tatting that my maternal Grandmother did over 50 years ago.  I had the piece framed along with the tatting shuttle she used to tat it with.  Tatting is pretty much a lost art so that makes this piece even more meaningful. It hangs with a grouping in our foyer.

3. What food festival would you most like to attend? If you're not sure click here to see a list of possibilities.I have never been to a food festival and it's definitely not something that is on my "bucket list" but if I were going to go to one, I could go about 45 miles from here to the Winnsboro Catfish Festival.  I hear it is lots of fun and the catfish is delicious.  But, think I'll just take everyone else' word for it. ~Smile~

4. Snow...do you love it or is it considered a four letter word where you live?  Well,  a quick snow once a year is alright and most of the time, we do not even have that. A day or two of snow always has a certain amount of fun in it since we never ever have snow.  But, a steady diet of it, I would not want.  I like to go too much and our area is just not prepared for snow and it shuts the whole area down when it does snow.

5. Can you ski? Do you ski? Are you any good? I have no idea if I can can ski since I've never done it.  And, at this stage in my life I'm not going to try.  I'm afraid an injury just might "do me in" at this point and I'm just not willing to chance that.

6. What quality in your spouse or best friend are you most thankful for? When I am distraught he can usually bring insight to the situation that calms me.

7. Describe the coziest spot in your home. We have a big leather club chair in our upstairs TV room and it is where I go each morning.  I curl up in it with my cup of coffee and afghan and enjoy some quite time before starting my day. I love that spot!

8. Insert your own random thought here. I do a lot of shopping via the Internet and I have no doubt that is why I get every catalog known to mankind in the mail.  I bet I have gotten 50 in the past two days and I throw every one of them in the trash.  I'm sure that would make the company that mailed them to me very happy if they knew that.  But, I cannot stand stacks of stuff sitting around and I don't have time to look at them. I've finished my Christmas shopping so I don't see any need in looking through any of them.

We're so glad that Joyce is hosting Hodgepodge Wednesday and if you would like to read more, click here.

  1. The catalog thing is crazy. I think I get one from Pottery Barn about every other day...why do they send the bedding separate from their other items? It's too much!

I think your #1 is maybe going to be the best answer to that question today : )

  2. I love the tatting. It's beautiful. Excellent way to display it too. Catalogs. Ugh! You order one thing that is mailed to you and you end up on every stinking mail order list known. A bra fitting? That's a good one. I'll have to read about it. Thanks for sharing. Blessings, SusanD

  4. I always love reading your answers!

Thankfully, most of the websites where I shop don't send out catalogs ... because I love to shop online (get twice the pleasure ... once when actually making the purchase and again when the package arrives!).

I have a piece of my Grandmother's tatting framed between 2 pieces of glass.

I did a bra fitting a year and a half ago ... I wasn't completely pleased with the results ... mostly because I didn't like any of the bras in my size (they didn't have very many). I think I need to go to another shop and try again. ;-)

  5. I don't think anyone else is going to list a bra fitting as their most interesting happening of the year! It really made laugh. : )

  6. Had to laugh about the bra fitting, but do you know that most women wear the wrong size?

  10. Lea, thank you for the laughs! I have never had a professional bra fitting. I fear it now, after four kids and all, but maybe I will be brave and do it. Especially after reading about your experience which had me laughing so hard I almost wet my pants!

Love the tatting. It's so beautiful.

I don't receive many catalogs any more since I asked to be removed from all the mailing lists.

    Have a great evening!

  12. So are you happy with the fit now?
I liked how your framed your grandmothers work. I hear you on the catalogs, it seems like such a waste of paper. I shop online too. Have a nice weekend.
