Yep! it's Wednesday and everyone knows that means it's "Hodgepodge with Joyce." So, here we go...............
1. Do you and your family enjoy camping? What do you enjoy most/like the least when it comes to family camping? When was the last time you camped? Well, if you call staying at The Marriott or The Hilton, camping then we LOVE it. ~chuckle~ I'm sorry, I don't mean to be tacky, but camping is just NOT for "me and mine." I know that there are those that love it and that is great. That's why they make hotels for those of us that don't. The last time I camped was when our kids were small and we went with another couple to a lake and spent one night in a tent. We made a memory and that's about all I can say. I am just too convenience oriented for camping. Think that about sums it up. ~smile~
This is my idea of camping |
2. Did you attend a summer camp when you were a kid? Is that a happy or not so happy memory? Now, this question brings back all kinds of happy, happy memories. Going to church camp was the high lite of my summers. I loved being with all my friends, enjoying all the activities and all the while gaining Biblical knowledge that I've carried throughout my life. Yea! for camp!
3. Over the course of your life, what have you probably spent more time pondering than anything else? Oh, my, there's all kinds of things that I ponder and can't say that one "outweighs" the other. A couple of things I ponder are:
*How will my life end: illness, accident or just up and die one day or the rapture
*If I had had a profession, other than or in addition to, Domestic Engineer, what would it have been.

4. Which of the seven natural wonders of the world would you most like to see? There are many lists of 'wonders' but this is the standard natural wonder list-Mount Everest, The Great Barrier Reef, The Grand Canyon, Victoria Falls, The Harbor of Rio de Janerio, Paricutan Volcano and The Northern Lights.
I would choose either Mt. Everest or Victoria Falls. Both are so majestic and breath-taking.

5. What was your first real job? I guess this means outside of babysitting and jobs of this type. The summer I was 16 I worked for a company called Gould Battery in Lynchburg, Virginia. I did some kind of entering of numbers in a machine (certainly not a computer) to keep stock of all the batteries. I do know that I thought I was "big stuff" when I got the job and I made "big money" as well that summer. I was a happy gal! ~grin~
6. Lemonade or Sweet tea...which do you prefer on a hot summer day? Now, this Southern Belle likes her tea. But, I like half lemonade and half tea at times. But, if I have to say just one, it would definitely be tea. I seem to be stopping by Sonic quite often to get a big cup of tea. Nothing like Sonic tea over Sonic ice. Yummmmmmmm!
7. What is something that always brings a smile to your face? Well, if you are a Grandmother then you know that those little fellas can always bring a smile to your face.
8. Insert your own random thought here.Okay, ladies, help me out. Little by little I'm discovering more and more about blogging and in the past couple of months I've been figuring out Google Reader for blogs. It is so much quicker than opening each individual blog, especially if you are like me and want read tons of them. But, it doesn't appear that when you comment on the Reader that the comment goes over to the blog so the blogger will know you stopped by. Am I correct? I want to use Google Reader but I also want to comment. I mean, isn't that part of it? If you can help this poor soul it would be much appreciated! Thanks! And, I'd love to know how you "do" your blog reading, do you use Google Reader or just jump around to those that visit you? I think the problem with me is that I'm "attached" to too many blogs. ~hummmmmm~ I may have to seek therapy. ~wink~ Love you girlies!
I love your idea of camping that is the way my husband would camp. I am so into sweet tea.. I miss not having a Sonic close by. I got to Mickey D's for their dollars sweet tea.. Have a great day..
ReplyDeleteNot sure I'm the one to give advice on this topic but : ) I follow a number of blogs in my reader. I love to see who has updated and I generally read them in my reader. If I want to comment I then click over to the blog. I don't think you can comment in reader format. I read a few of the 'big blogs' that I don't comment on so this definitely makes for quicker browsing.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely with you on the camping! And those grandchildren are the best smile makers! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI was 99%sure you were like me in the Marriott version of camping! And that you were a "swate tay" gal. Can't help with the goog reader question. I rad my regulars on my blogroll or type in their url on my browser. I think it is my only discipline in blogging;(
ReplyDeletethat is my idea also of camping! I am not one to "camp" but great for those that do. I just follow my blogs that I have in my dashboard I know "nothing" about Google Reader. I guess I have alot to learn.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you can comment in Reader. I just try and remember which ones I would like to comment on and go back through the dashboard and comment.
ReplyDeleteStop by and see my new blog design that I won from Posh Palm, I just love it!
Susan
Enjoyed reading your answers. Victoria Falls looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a local Sonic but I am going to have to find one and try their drinks, I hear they are all awesome. I use my reader and love it! I do have to open up each blog to comment.
Your view of camping reminds me of my former co-worker's! LOL It's not for everyone, as evidenced by today's varied answers.
ReplyDeleteLove your grandchildren photo. Aren't they "grand"?!
Thanks for stopping by today :)
I follow blogs in Google Reader, but in Chrome (the browser I use) when I click on the blog (in Reader) to expand it so I can read it all (I only see the first few lines when in Reader), it automatically opens the post to a new window, so I'm pretty sure that my comment goes to the blog (and author) because I do occasionally get responses to my comments. I recommend Chrome because it's much more friendly to Blogger (as it should be because both Chrome and Blogger are produced by Google).
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to mention that yes, as a grandma, those little ones never fail to bring a smile to my face. I was talking to DD this morning ... she's got a smart phone, so when she's talking to me, my face shows up on the screen. She put the phone down by T#4's face so I could hear her jabber ... and T#4 kissed my picture on the phone instead. I could hear the mwah of her kiss. I STILL have a smile on my face, some 3 hours later!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of half lemonade / half tea! That sounds like the perfect match! I'm so glad to read your comment about Sonic ice. I get such grief from my family when I tell them that fountain drinks over the "right" ice just taste better - Sonic is one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know - comments on reader do not post on the post. I typically read in Reader and if I'm going to comment - click on the title to open the post and comment there. I'm sure there's a better system and if you find it, please pass it along :-)
That's a nice way to camp! ; )
ReplyDeleteAwe, the grand-kids pic is priceless!
You are southern all the way... I never knew there was such a thing as sweet tea lemonade til I moved here! It's so good... Makes the move worth it. Ha!
Good morning! I love these hodgepodge posts. Soo entertaining. I am totally with you on the camping. We did go a few times when my boys were young so that they could have the experience, but other than the fishing they preferred the hotels too, haha....I just hop around and read as many of my fav's as I can on the blogging. It is hard to stop, and hard to keep up, but how I love it. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWe like Sonic happy hour! I usually get a slush though. I like to get a tea from Chicken Express or Bush's Chicken.
ReplyDeleteI have found Google Reader so helpful. I read the posts in the Reader and then if I want to comment I click to link to the actual post and comment that way. I don't comment on everything. I didn't know you could comment on Google Reader. I've been using it for a while and it's really made it easier to keep up.
I read mine from my dashboard. You have to be in the blog to comment I'm pretty sure.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to take my kids camping. We have got to remedy that:)
I'm a half tea half lemonade kind of gal as well. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd have to choose Victoria's Falls due to the warmth. And lower altitude. :)
I love reading your hodgepodge wednesday -- they are so fun.
Rachel
Yep, I definitely think you and I could "camp" together. I read blogs in a Reader, too, but click over if I want to comment.
