Miscellany Monday - Halloween Style

Miscellany Monday @
lowercase letters

Yea! it's Monday and Halloween, what a great combination and Monday means it's time for a random post for MM.  Thanks Carissa for being the "mother" of this fun meme.

Pumpkin Carving....

Now, how much cuter does it get? ~smile~ Clancy and his Momma carved his first pumpkin yesterday afternoon and it appears that he was very proud of the finished product.

Billy Graham.......

I would have to say that I probably have more respect and admiration for Billy Graham than any other man (outside the men in my family) on the face of this earth.  He has had an eternal impact on so many lives and even in his last days he continues to only be concerned about those that are without the Lord.  I am reading his newest book, Nearing Home and what a treasure it is.  He is now 93, in very frail condition but still awakes each day to make a difference in lives.  WOW! may we all be able to say such as we are "nearing home."

A Privilege or Obligation or Both

Taken a year and a half ago
I struggle almost daily as I oversee the care of my Daddy with privilege and obligation.  The duty I have as his child is both.  The days I look at it as an obligation, I struggle with guilt but I am sure that many of you reading this know exactly what I am talking about.  There is just no end to the responsibilities that are involved and while it is overwhelming much of the time, it is indeed my privilege to care for one of the greatest men I know.
Does any of that make sense? I hope so!

The Best for Last.....
Sometime around the end of next May, the Lord will bless us with Grandbaby #3.  Yes, daughter, husband and Clancy will add to their family.  Now, do know that all I want for them is a healthy, happy baby, but I "secretly" would love for Clancy to have a little sister.  But, we'll just love either one too death!  Do I need to say again, Dodge City is too many miles away from us!!!  Boo! Hoo!

May you be especially blessed this new week!

  2. lea, i can imagine that caregiving is so tiring. even if it is for your amazing father. my father-in-law has been caregiver to his wife for over 30 years... she could not walk on her own, or eat, or do anything without help. it wears on you. praying for you to have strength.

i pretend that i'm related to billy since we share the same last name. : )

congratulations on a new grandbaby! how exciting!!! can't wait to hear who this baby will be. it is fun having a boy and a girl. but two boys would be sweet too... they could be best buds.

have a great week, sweet lea!

  4. Well said, "privilege and obligation." It's only human to feel the guilt when the sense of obligation seems stronger than privilege but I appreciate your honesty. And oh, how exciting to anticipate a new grandbaby. Dodge City must feel like a lightyear away from Bastrop! I had the amazing opportunity to attend a Billy Graham crusade as a teenager. The man and his message have always been the same, simple and true to God's Word!

  7. You and I will both be welcoming grandbabies next May! Our son and his wife are expecting their first baby then.

It's made a little bittersweet by the fact that our youngest daughter was expecting her fourth about the same time, but miscarried a couple of weeks ago.

  8. I can imagine how exhausting caring for your dad can be at times. When my grandmother was very ill, we all took time to care for her, and it was both physically and mentally exhausting. Praying the Lord continues to strengthen you. Billy Graham, a giant in the Kingdom of God! Congratulations on getting another grandbaby! That's so exciting!
