This is my first time to join up with Ashley for Friday Letter's . One of the bloggers I follow participates and it looked like a fun meme, so I'm giving it a try. Plus, I might meet some new bloggers. ~hope-hope~ And, I've always loved writing letters.
Dear Aunt Mary and Aunt Wanda, What fun it was to be in Virginia with you last weekend and celebrate Aunt Wanda's 90th birthday. It was such a great idea to center the celebration around a family reunion. You are both so dear to me and I know it would have thrilled my precious Momma to know that all of us were together. I look forward to our next visit and I'm so sorry that almost 1000 miles separate us.
Dear Grocery Store, I cannot believe that I spent $174.22 for groceries yesterday and I did not have one single bit of meat in that cart. WOW! Of course, I am preparing for our daughter and Grandson's visit, but still, I'm thinking groceries are wayyyyyyyyy too expensive.
Dearest Daughter, I am so excited that you and Clancy will be arriving Memorial Day afternoon. I know that the time you are here will not be nearly long enough, but we'll sure try to make the most of the time we have with you. Drive safely and we'll be anxiously awaiting your arrival. By the way have I told you lately that I very much dislike the 13 1/2 hours that separate us.....~tear~
Dear Nyquil and Dayquil, Please "do your thang" and knock this cold out of me. I'm quite sure it came from the cooties on the flight I made this past weekend. But, I need to feel better! I have things to do, people to see and places to go. Do you hear me????
Dear Phillip, I am so thrilled that you won American Idol! I think you are likely the most humble contestant that has ever won the title. Please, never loose your humility and may your year ahead just be the beginning of great and mighty things in your life. And, when you were no longer able to sing because of the tears and headed straight to the arms of your Dad and Mom----well, can I just say that it almost melted this Momma's heart.
Dear Self, Always remember you are a Southern Gal and Southern Gals sometimes have to put on their big girl panties and deal with it. Life can deal tough issues, but never forget that you are tougher and serve a God that is even more tough!
Happy Friday Girlies!

Lovely, Cici! I think writing letters is such an easy and freeing way to write. Your letters are beautiful {like you} and get straight to the heart! Especially the grocery store one.
ReplyDeleteLove you and blessings,
Rachel
I didn't play along this week but will next. Its a fun link up!
ReplyDeleteI like the new meme and enjoyed your letters. Have a great week with Bridget and that special grandson.
ReplyDeleteGuess what?! I'm about to send you a real live letter along with a cd! :) Can't wait for you to hear Kelly.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you got to spend precious time with dear ones at the birthday party/ reunion. Your Aunts are so lovely.
Seriously, I'm convinced grocery prices go up by the day! Each time I go I realize a staple item is $0.50 more. I guess that's not changing anytime soon.
Have a blast with your girl and little prince. Although, I know that goes without saying. :)
Xoxo!!!
What a fun meme!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting that your daughter and your Clancy are coming to visit! I just know you're going to have a fabulous Memorial Day!
What a fun post! I am off to check it out myself. I agree that Phillip is a humble young man. His parents must be proud of him!
ReplyDeleteFun meme...I laughed at the grocery bill I am always telling my husband that...NO MEAT even!
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch American Idol but saw the final show and I was so moved by him walking down to his parents...I am sure they were also
Enjoy your weekend...sounds like big doings!
That was a fun read. I love writing letters and what a cute format for posting your thoughts today. I might try this soon as well!
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on the groceries!
ReplyDeleteHave you read this blog post-really great and relates to Phillip Phillips and fame vs. humility. Worth a read...the link is long-I hope it works. Otherwise it is Chatting at the sky blog and the post is called-One thing that will make your soul explode.

Fun meme. Love the letters you have written but I have to say the one to Phillip brought me to tears.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% with what you said to him and he is a wonderful man. Did you know he had 8 surgeries for kidney stones while doing AI? He is having one more that will be more invasive to repair his kidney. He has had stones. His father said he is actually a lot more fun put the pain was hard on him. Have a fun weekend with your family.
Groceries are too expensive!! I am glad Phillip won American Idol too! Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, awesome post, Lea! You always know how to make me smile! So thrilled that Phillip won Idol...love him! Have a nice, enjoyable weekend and have fun with your girl!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post! And I was glad that Phillip won American Idol too. I was hoping that Joshua would be in the finale but when it came down to the last two ...Phillip was the one! I also loved that he went straight for his family.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Debbie
