Welcome 2013! I can't think of a better first blog entry for the new year than
our Wednesday Hodgepodge. And, as usual, Joyce has some great questions for us.
1. How did you ring in the new year?
Hubby and I put on our purple and gold and joined some of our "running buddies" for the evening. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and then gathered around the TV to watch the LSU/Clemson bowl game. We had high hopes that LSU could pull off a win but it was a heart breaker of a loss with the final score being 24 - 25. Ouch!
But, thank goodness, the loss of a football game has no lasting effects on our future. It was a fun time of fellowship with dear friends. And, might I add, Hubby and I were home and tucked in our bed before the stroke of midnight. But, when we awoke, the new year had dawned and we slept right through it. ~amazing~
2. What is one thing you are looking forward to in 2013?

2. What is one thing you are looking forward to in 2013?
Oh, this would be easy.........the wedding of my sweet niece and her financee on June 15th in Des Moines, Iowa. It's so encouraging when you see a couple "start out right" and they have certainly done so and I wish them God's richest blessings as they begin their lives together.
3. Steven Spielberg is quoted as saying, "All of us every single year, we're a different person. I don't think we're the same person all our lives." What say you?
Hum......well......I've certainly not been the same person all of my 60 years here on this earth. I would like to think that I have become a better person over the years through the experiences I've had and the lessons I've learned. Of course, some of those lessons and experiences have been mighty tough, but that is what makes me the person I am today - warts and all. So, yes, I agree, we are not the same person all our lives. That's really sort of a deep topic for sure. ~grin~
4. The Pantone color of the year for
2013 is emerald green. Like or dislike? Do you already own something
this color? Will you add something in this shade to your home or
wardrobe in 2013?
I do like emerald green but I own nothing that color and the truth of the matter is that I seldom see anything that color in clothing or decor. And, no, I will not be adding it to my wardrobe or my home. It's not enough of a favorite of mine for that.
You know, it's just hard to beat a good ole diamond in my estimation! And, when they are antique or mounted in antique style, they become all the more favorite of mine. ~big smile~
6. Share a favorite book or movie from 2012.
Hubby and I rarely go to the movies, but we did see 2016 and while it was a most distressing movie it was a favorite for sure!
7. What is something you want to tell yourself at the start of this brand new year?
Oh, my, there's so many things I've already been telling myself, but the one thing that just keeps ringing in my ears is, "God is in control." If I will just keep my focus on Him and my faith in Him, He will see me through whatever may come my way. Wish that wasn't so hard to do at times.
Awww - he's so adorable. I miss making snowman angels! Hope your 2013 is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I forgot about diamonds ... do love me a beautiful diamond.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't see 2016 ... I wonder if it's on DVD?
It sure looks like Clancy is having fun making that snow angel!
Enjoyed your Wednesday Hodgepodge, great photos, we haven't seen 2016, but will soon!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how children can play in snow and be so warm.
looks like a great year is in store for you,
Happy New Year
Blessings,
Sue

ReplyDeleteI was just working on tomorrow's post, which might incude my 22 year old making a snow angel : )
ReplyDeleteI am rereading Keeping A Quiet Heart by Elisabeth Elliott. The first chapter speaks to the very thing you mention-God in control.
I saw 2016-very well done. Made my stomach hurt.
This is such an interesting Wednesday meme I may have to jump on board one week. I love learning these new things about you every week! So glad we connected! That last photo is absolutely precious! Big hugs, xoxo
ReplyDeleteI loved your diamond ring. Antique jewellry is awesome.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your Wednesday Hodgepodge and found it interesting that both of us concluded our thought of the year (and no doubt every year)is that God is in control. And aren't we glad He is!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your Wednesday Hodgepodge. Well I actually enjoy reading all of your posts. :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I also slept through the midnight hour. However, living in Arizona which is two hours behind the east coast we were able to watch the ball drop in Times Square when it was only 10 pm here. So we felt like we stayed up to midnight.
I've not seen the 2016 movie yet but notice it's on Amazon prime so I might watch it.
I wish you an amazing new year. I will be catching up to you in the next month. But you look great at 60. And I heard that 60 is the new 40. Have you heard that one? :)
Blessings and love,
Debbie
Sounds like a fun evening. I just can't get into bed before midnight, I must see that ball drop! Your right, I seldom see things in emerald green. Diamond is my favorite too only I misunderstood the question. I wasn't thinking of precious stones.
ReplyDeleteI love snow angels, so glad he had fun making them.
I agree with what Spielberg said :-)
