Monday's Musings

I have always loved Mondays.  It's a fresh start to a new week and I generally use it to get things in order for the rest of the week.  If my Mondays go well then the rest of my week seems to go well.  But, it sure is hard for me to believe that we are already at the end of Oct. Christmas is only two months away and for the first time in many, many years I have barely even started my Christmas shopping. But, for now, here's what's been going on in my life.......

I flew to spend a few days with our daughter this past week and these two little sweeties.  It was her last week off before returning to work.
Coleman is absolutely precious and still very much a newborn even though he is 8 weeks old today.  But, he should only be two weeks old.  He is still like a little rag doll and just wads up in your arms.  But, he's thriving and up to 8 1/2 pounds.  Bridget has worked very hard to get him on a manageable schedule these past couple of weeks and they are all benefiting from it.  I pray it will be a great first week back to work for her and that Coleman will do very well with his sitter.
To help Bridget with dinner time the next couple of months we spent one day in the kitchen preparing meals.  And, once again, Pinterest comes to the rescue!!!  We gathered all the raw ingredients, meat, seasonings, veggies, etc. and put them in gallon freezer ziploc bags.  Labeled the bags and then laid them flat in the freezer.  Most of the recipes we got from the Crockpot Ladies website but there are a host of other websites with even more recipes. We fixed 13 meals for $93. ~a good deal I'd say~  All they will need is possibly a side dish and bread.  Bridget can lay out which ever one she chooses the night before so it will thaw and then pour it out of the ziploc into the crockpot the next morning and viola, she'll have a ready dinner when she gets in from work.  Easy peasy!!!  We did not spend more than 2 1/2 hours in total preparation so it is not a labor intensive endeavor. We sampled the one pictured above for dinner that evening and gave it a 4 star rating.  I'm thinking I may have to do a few of these for myself.
I was "suppose" to fly out around 10:45 Friday morning and be back home by 2:45 Friday afternoon.  A very quick trip!  Well, such was not to be the case.  Bridget dropped me off at the airport around 8:45AM and after encountering obstacles in every direction I finally landed at home around 12:30AM Saturday morning.  Can I just say it was a VERY long, long day and I know the Oklahoma City and Houston airports like the back of my hand.  Oh, the joys of flying!  But, I just kept trying to remember the sweet memories I had made in the previous days.
And, I leave you with this........
I was playing with a photo app on my Ipad the other day and the above picture of myself was the result.  I know, so, so silly!  But, I thought it was a bit "Hallowenish" looking and knew that all of you would enjoy it. ~big laugh~
Have yourselves a great new week.  We have been enjoying rain here and it's our first rain since moving into our new house 11 weeks ago tomorrow.  I think the last actual rain was around July 4th, so we are thrilled to see the dust settled.
