Welcome to Hodgepodge and my "new blog look." Don't you love it? I'm "pleased as a peach!" Now, off to answer the questions Joyce has for us this week.
1. It's a brand new month...share one thing you're looking forward to in October.Oh, I love fall and even though the official date for Fall is in September, for me, October means Fall has arrived. In a couple of weeks we will be sharing some time in Northern Arkansas with dear friends and I can hardly wait. The big War Eagle Festival is taking place and we are going to be attending. I went about 25 years ago and it was fantastic then and I am sure it is even better now. It is a high end craft festival and is held outside and hopefully it will be beautiful weather.
2. Is chivalry dead? Explain. No, it is often hard to find or see demonstrated today but there are still folks who possess the qualities of bravery, courtesy, honor and justice. ~thank goodness~ There are many who do not and they often make it difficult for us not to think that chivalry is indeed dead.
3. On October 2, 1950 the Peanuts comic strip made its debut. Which character is your favorite? Which character is most like you? (Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Shroeder, Snoopy, Woodstock, or Pig Pen) If you need a description click here .
Linus would be my favorite and he would also be most like me. He's such a cute fella and I love that he always has his blanket in tow. I'm very, very attached to cover (be it a blanket or afghan) as well. I'm going to have cover no matter the time of year and it's always going to be more than a sheet. I always sit with an afghan over my legs and I always sleep with at least a blanket over me. I have not started carrying them around just yet, but I am still very much attached to them. ~smile~ My coverings make me feel very secure.
4. What's something you're competitive about? Welllllllllll, competitiveness is something that I have always struggled with. I'm just not all that competitive period! I played tennis for years and I enjoy playing games but I enjoy them regardless of whether I win or not. I'm not sure if this is good, bad or indifferent, but "it is what it is."
5. October is National Popcorn Popping Month...are you a fan? How do you like your popcorn?
Yes, yes and yes I am a huge fan of popcorn! I love it all buttered up and greasy but I do not indulge myself in all those calories. I just eat it plain with salt and there's not a week that goes by that I do not eat it a couple of times. It is just about my favorite night time snack.
6. When did you first realize the world is small? Oh, I hate to cop out on this one, but truth is, I cannot remember. I know it was years and years ago.
7. In terms of architecture, what's the most beautiful building you've seen up close and in person?
The first one that came to my mind is the Notre-Same Basilica-Cathedral in Quebec City. We saw this a year ago this past August when we went on a Canadian/New England Cruise.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
36 years ago today this young man made me a Momma and my life has never been the same. He was the sweetest, most content, and happiest child and has grown into one of the finest young men. It has been a joy to watch him grown and mature into the man he is today. And, it is especially fun to watch him be a Daddy to our precious little Princess. Here's wishing a Happy Birthday to my number ONE son!
Happy Birthday to your Son and I love the new blog header.
ReplyDeleteI just love your new blog look!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the cover ... it has to be a blanket/quilt/cover of some kind (just a sheet will not do), and sometimes that means that I have to turn the ceiling fan on so I won't get too warm with a quilt on top of me. DH doesn't get it, but thankfully I now know that I'm not the only one who feels this way. ;-)
Happy birthday to your number one son!

ReplyDeleteI've not been to Quebec but its on my list. Hubs chaperoned a French Club trip there when daughter1 was in grade 9. I had a cast on my arm plus they did all sorts of things like dog sledding and super tubing and stuff that's right up his alley : )
