Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

It's time for
Friday Fragments and it does seem that my life has been very fragmented as most are through the holidays. ~smile~  So, here's my fragments for the week......enjoy!

********
This is the group that we shared New Year's Eve with this past Monday evening.

I'm thinking we gals look like a ladies ensemble ready to perform.~chuckle~   Not sure why some of the ladies didn't get the memo about wearing purple and gold.  I mean we gathered to watch the LSU game. ~smile~

This is our fine group of "other halves."  It seems that some of the guys didn't get the memo either. ~double smile~

*******
If you've been reading my blog for very long, you know I love talking about how we Southerners love doing things with "style and flair."  Well, the host and hostess of our New Year's Eve gathering definitely went all out.
They even undid their Christmas tree of it's regular decor and decked it out in purple and gold and the table scapes were just adorable.  We just love making an event out of any and every gathering - it's part of what makes us Southern. ~chuckle~

********
I am a sunshine kinda gal!  After about two days of clouds, rain, fog or yuck, I'm pretty much done.  We have had more than enough of these kind of days the past couple of weeks and I was on the "ragged edge" but  the sun came out yesterday.  Yea! I was plum thrilled and my spirits were soaring.  I'm thinking that yuck is on the forecast next week but hopefully I can stock up on enough sunshine to see me through the gloom.  And, a cold winter rainy day is much worse than a hot summery rainy day for me. And, the sun is "trying" to shine today.  It's gonna be a good day!

 ********
I always clean out and organize in January and I have already started this year.  I have cleaned out some closets and carried a boatload of "stuff" to our local thrift store. I love cleaning out!  And, now I'm working on our home office.  There are files to purge, papers to shred and new files to start.  It's such a good feeling to start "afresh and a new."

********
Since I started blogging 3 years ago, every January I have my last year's entries made into a book.  I've  always used Blog 2 Print
and have been very pleased, but am checking out Blurb this year.  I've seen some books done through Blurb and they are so, so impressive.  But, once I get familiar with something it's hard for me to change and try to figure out a new way. But, I'll check it out a little while longer and make a decision.  I do enjoy having my blogs in book form as I am just certain that my children will enjoy having them one day. ~hope~hope~

********
Here's wishing you a great first weekend of this new year.  We have no big plans, just more cleaning out and organizing for me.  Hubby will likely hunt since the season is just about to close for the season.  On Sunday afternoon we'll celebrate our DIL's birthday and who doesn't enjoy celebrating life!

And, thought this was something great to remember as we start a new year........

  2. A beautiful group of friends, enjoyed reading your "fragments" today"! January is my time to clean and organize, though this new year I am a little late starting, me thinks I have been spending to much time at the computer. ~smile~
    Enjoy your day.

  3. Good morning! I have made books for the last 3 years too using blog2print. i used Blurb to make Melody the cookbook for her wedding shower. Totally different! Blurb was definitely better, but MUCH MUCH more involved. Let me know what you decide. I may check it out again. Enjoy your week-end!

  4. I usually clean and organize in January, too, but this year will have to postpone it ... I'll be spending the next 4-5 days packing. ;-) Cleaning/organizing will be high on my list of priorities when we get back.

  5. Love that LSU tree! And the guys must've gotten the memo that said, "Wear brown or blue" ? Teehee. I'm cleaning out, too--feels so good to dejunk. The phrase is a good one to ponder.

  6. Look at all those beautiful women! And not too bad of a group of men either. That tree is stunning. I thought about doing a Mardi Gras tree this year, but decided to forego doing so this year. Maybe next year. We shall see. Love your fragments! Wishing you a beautiful Friday & wonderful weekend sweet Lea! big hugs, xoxo

  10. Those pictures are so sweet. Makes me wish we had some friends to hang with. I bet you had a great time and I love their decorations.
After I get my Christmas things down I do plan to declutter this year!I wish I had started doing mine into books. When I think about it now, almost four years later it seems like too big of a project to undertake.

  13. It was so good to see all those lovely friends again. You all just do not age. I can only imagine the noise and laughter that filled the house that night. I started with the office this week too. Have my 2013 file box ready to go. Finished my MK inventory today thanks to hubby's assistance. A lot more to do, but it does feel good to make some progress.
