The 2nd Monday in June and if we are just real lucky we may be moved into our new house by the 2nd Monday in July or at least in the process. ~hope-hope~ Until then, we'll just keep trucking along and enjoy the journey.
In the process of packing up and preparing to move I have come across items that I have not seen in absolutely 25+ years. I pulled these out last week and the memories came flooding over me. My Mom bought me these back in 1966 to wear with the dotted swiss dress (my Mom made) to my first Valentine Banquet at our church. They have a 1 1/2" heel and I was so excited about wearing them that I could hardly sleep. They came from a store called Tom McCann, I believe, and were probably $2.50. My parents had a huge discussion over whether or not I should be allowed to wear heels at "only" 13 years of age. ~oh, how times have changed~

Our little Andi Kate is getting so big (a whopping 11 lbs.) and had her first ride in a swing last week. Big sister is finding Andi Kate a lot more fun in recent weeks as Andi Kate has begun to interact with her. I'm thinking as the years go by that these two will develop a bond that nothing can separate. ~sister love~

This past week, Michael, one of our painters, began the final phase of the finish of our mahogany cabinets and counter tops. He put a furniture finish on them and, even if I do so, he did an absolutely outstanding job. In fact, I told Hubby that I'm not sure I should even put anything on the top of the counters as they are too beautiful to cover up.
Our custom closets were installed this past Friday and I am beyond excited over these. You may be familiar with two level hanging rods with the upper rod being on a lift. I had never heard of such until I was connected with Susan, who is a closet designer. The upper rods easily pull down to eye level, using the center rod. Susan made good use of every square inch of our closets. We have slat wall where different size hooks can be inserted to hold belts, ties, scarves, purses or jewelry. Tommy and I will have separate closets and I'm afraid mine is definitely the bigger of the two. ~smile~ We also have chests, adjustable shelving for shoes and a wall mirror. Now, if a good fairy would just come and move all our clothes, accessories, etc. in and set it up, all would be well. But, like everything else, we will get it done.

And, glory hallelujah! We now have a completed driveway! The two end sections were poured Thursday afternoon. It was a hot afternoon and concrete finishing is no easy job. These guys work tirelessly until the job is done and definitely earn every penny they make.
Love the mahogany finish and I too would think twice about using them. Regarding the closets, don't look too closely because you would see green. I like my walk-in closet but it lacks all the stuff. And those shoes! You need to bronze them. LOL! Do they do that anymore, by the way? Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI love that pull-down-to-eye-level concept!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's coming along nicely. Those are the cutest shoes! Have a great week, Lea.

Hi Lea, Love seeing the progress on the house-by the time we get back you'll almost be ready to move it.
ReplyDeleteWhen my sister passes 10 yrs ago, I got some Mules similar to yours to wear. I had never had any shoes like that and will admit they were comfortable, but I gave them away when I stopped wearing heals. Hope you have a great week.
Hugs, Noreen
