TBB Asks - Giving Thanks Edition

It's the first Monday of the month (can you believe it's November) and that means the Blended Blog gals have questions and I have answers.

1. Have you ever kept a Gratitude Journal? Yes or No?
I have not and have thought about it many times, but have not acted on that thought.  I think it would do everyone good to keep one.

2. Hosting Thanksgiving at your house? Yes or No?

Yes, I will be hosting the Thanksgiving meal here this year.  The past two years we have gone to the country club for their scrumptious buffet.  We will have our son and family and one of Hubby's sisters and her husband and my Daddy.  Not a lot but hopefully it will be very nice.  I've put a whole lot of planning into the meal and doing as much as possible in advance.  I love being "one step ahead."

3. Favorite Food from The Thanksgiving Meal?
It would be a toss up between sweet potato casserole or dressing and gravy. I rarely ever eat either one other than at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

4. What one thing in Nature are you most grateful for?

The bayous here in Louisiana are just beautiful this time of year.  The Cypress trees are in full of color and we are blessed to have a lot of bayous in our area.  It's something that many have never or may never see.  I'm grateful I get to see them regularly.

5. Pumpkin Pie: Yes or No?

Oh, indeed! I love pumpkin pie and again, I never eat it except during the holidays.  That makes it all the better.

6. Traditional Cookbook: Yes or No?
I do rarely use a cookbook anymore.  I just go straight to the internet for my recipes.  It's much quicker.  I still have some great cookbooks and on rare occasions I will actually use them.

7. Oven Baked or Deep-Fried Turkey?
I'll take Deep-Fried but we are having neither this year.  I have ordered a smoked turkey breast.  It's soooo much easier to serve.

8. Thanksgiving Leftovers: Yes or No?
Yes, don't mind eating them once but no more. Enough is enough. ~grin~

9. What is one household product your most grateful for?

I love, love Viva paper towels and use them many times a day.  I love many other products too but these were the first thing to come to my mind. They are like cloth. If you use another brand, you should give Viva a try, I'm betting you'll like them too.

10. Are you most grateful for home cooked meals or restaurant meals?
Well, I might be lying if I said home cooked because we eat out half the time.  So, guess I'll go with restaurant meals.  Generally our eating out is as much a social event as anything else and we really enjoy it.

  7. Enjoyed your answers Lea. WOW! What a beautiful picture of those trees. I bet it is pretty this time of year. I have kept a Gratitude journal before, Matter of fact I have many different types of journals from years past. I usually have a journal of some kind or another going on. I am barely without paper and pen. LOL! We have Thanksgiving at my Fatherinlove's home each year. Which we all pitch in with everything so it makes it nice. I am like you, do not eat dressing and gravy often so by Thanksgiving I am ready for it and it by far my fav. I am grateful for the trees, the many different kinds the Lord has given us. I was drawn to those beautiful trees you have shown in your picture. Love me some pumpkin pie and ready to bake some too. I do love a traditional cook book but as you I find myself popping over to internet to grab a recipe when needed. But there is nothing like a traditional cook book to me. I will take oven baked or fried turkey though we have baked turkey every year for Thanksgiving. Yes, we will do leftovers for sure but we will not this year as my family will be leaving Thanksgiving afternoon to go to Georgia to hunt together this year. Well, I might need to carry some pumpkin pie. LOL! Lea, one of my fav products is Dawn Dish detergent. I have many uses for it. And lastly, I am most grateful for home cooked meals. I enjoy going out to eat but I do enjoy cooking and baking at home. I love my own cooking! And I feel it most days too. HA! Hope you have a wonderful week dear Lea. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  8. I do as much ahead for Thanksgiving dinner (AND Christmas dinner) that I can. Makes it so much easier to put it all together on "the day". I enjoyed your answers!

  9. We drove across Louisiana on I-10 a little over two years ago. I had never seen bayous before. They were fascinating.

  10. I enjoyed reading your answers, Lea. Several years ago, I made a "Grateful Jar" which I would add little pieces of paper to on a daily basis...for a while...until I didn't. I just wasn't able to keep up with it, not because I was grateful, but because I got a bit forgetful and lazy. I still have it sitting on my counter to remind myself to start it again and be better keeping it up. The idea was to go through the papers on New Year's Eve to be reminded how the Lord had blessed throughout the year. Yes, Thanksgiving just would no be Thanksgiving without the sweet potato casserole (along with cranberry sauce) and me making my mom's delicious dressing...and like you, we only have pumpkin pie at the holidays. I will be cooking as well for our small group and I thoroughly enjoy it. But after cooking all day, I look forward to the leftovers even more than the actual meal. Love this time of the year!

    1. Of course I meant to say "not because I was NOT grateful"...:)

  11. I just posted a GRATITUDE blog post as well!!! I especially love your picture of the bayou....just gorgeous. Where we live the leaves for the most part don't turn the pretty colors. Most go from green to dead & brown:( I guess it has to do with the heat here. Your pictures are always so lovely and big. Photos is the main area of my blog I'm not all that happy with....even though I have a very expensive camera. Guess I need to do some more work & research. Now to go find a snack....your mention of pumpkin pie, sweet potato casserole, etc. has given me the munchies:)
