Thanks to Peggy, for hosting The Simple Woman's Daybook each month. As she states,
sometimes we just need to focus on the simple day to day things. And, I agree!
FOR TODAY
Outside my window...the sun is sitting and the temps are cooling. A favorite time of day for me.(in case you are wondering, I did this entry last evening)
I am thinking...that I am going to start putting out some fall decor this weekend. I've been gathering "my stuff" for the past several days. Things like decorative gourds, copper colored pumpkins, fall leaves and such. Oh, I can't wait!
I am thankful...for "second chances." ~we all need them~
In the kitchen...I did an eye round roast in the crock pot this week with the new McCormicks Crock Pot seasonings. Yes siree, mighty good! That was about the most exciting thing to happen in my kitchen this week. ~smile~ Added note - if you have never used the crock pot liner bags, you are missing "mess free" crock pot cooking. They are the "be all, do all" for crock pots, so don't delay, go get yourself a box.
I am wearing...tiger print lounging pajama's by Soma. Love my "comfy clothes" and always slip into them as soon as I can after dinner.
I am creating...a storehouse of memories everyday that I live and I try to make sure that I'm creating memories that are worth remembering. ~did that make sense?~
I am going...to Dallas with Hubby on the 19th of this month. He has a business meeting to attend and we'll have some fun in the process. It all takes place at the Gaylord Resort, so just being there is fun in and of itself.
I am wondering...what on earth we did before computers, Ipads and Smart Phones. I love all of these gadgets but I think we all have to remember to keep a "healthy balance" in the use of them. Now, obviously a "healthy balance" doesn't mean the same thing to all of us. ~too bad~
I am reading...still reading Love Does and a few magazines and lots of blogs. Blog reading has really interfered with my regular reading. Not sure that's all that bad either as many of the blogs I read are so uplifting and inspiring.
I am hoping...for "happy endings" in some of the family and health related issues that several I know are facing.
I am looking forward to...well, this may sound silly but I pretty much look forward to each new day. It's all I'm promised!
I am learning....that the best is yet to come, well......that sure sounds good! ~ big smile~
I am pondering...joining Anytime Fitness. I have walked on the treadmill for about 30 years but sometimes I have joined a fitness club for the strength training in addition to my walking. Anytime Fitness is located 5 minutes from our house and I may give it a whirl for one month and see how it goes.
A favorite quote for today...
"Burn candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy clothes. Don't save them for a special occasion. Today is special! ~so true~
One of my favorite things...is walking in my house after the floors have been freshly mopped and the rugs vaccumed. Ah! 'tis so sweet!
A few plans for the rest of the week....along with some fall decorating, I'm planning on doing a little clothes closet cleaning on Sat. I'm sure I have a load to carry to the consignment shop. The whole consignment deal is a "win-win" situation for both parties.
A peek into my day...I have a few errands to run,and going over to check on my sweet Dad. He is still having issues with his back and has been in so, so much pain.
A picture worth sharing........
Our favorite son ~and our only~ got himself this little toy about a month ago. He has been eying this little beauty for some time and could not find anyone in our area that would get right on the deal. So, he found this one, via the internet, in Augusta, GA and he rented a car and drove over and purchased it. His first vehicle, some 20+ years ago was a black Jeep and he's had a fondness for them ever since. I can't help but think he's mighty cute behind that wheel, even though he's about to be 37 years old. We can be cute no matter the age, right?
Happy weekend my friends!
Happy weekend my friends!
Love your blog, Lea! Have a blessed weekend...

Your son is 37? How is that possible? Of course, I ask myself the same question when I realize that my daughter is 38! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful for those electronic devices ... what a fabulous way to stay in touch with out-of-town friends and family. Having said that, they can easily become addicting. Achieving a healthy balance is, as you said, very important.
My wood floors need to be cleaned ... I think I'll work on them this weekend.
I'm still not buying it that you have a son who's 37 years old! Simply not possible! Love his new ride! Sure hope and pray your dad gets some relief from his back issues soon...it's so hard to watch your loved ones suffer.
ReplyDeleteHi Lea ~ I love reading your entries =) I crock pot at least once a week in the fall & winter (helps so much when our kiddos are all in sports!) but I must say I have never heard of crock pot liners! Oh My! I am going to go find them! Blessings, EMichelle
ReplyDeleteLoved your Friday post!
ReplyDeleteYou will be glad you added strength training into your exercise....so important.
Have a blessed weekend~
Hugs!!
Enjoyed reading your thoughts and happenings this morning. You will benefit greatly from some added weight training. Also check and see if anyone teaches a Pilates or Yoga class nearby. The stretching and core strengthening you will get will be so good for you. Have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing those Fall decorations.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your post as always. Hope your dad gets to feeling better soon. Soo hard when they are in pain and you feel like you can't help. My middle son is 37 too...time simply goes too fast! And btw, I think he is quite cute! haha Enjoy your week-end!
ReplyDeleteCrock pot liners?? Sounds like something I will have to investigate. With the weather turning cooler I will be pulling my crock pot out soon.
ReplyDeleteYou have a bucket full of blessings, best of all, you have a grateful heart. I loved yor list.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
The photos in your sidebar are so beautiful and inspiring--True love :)
ReplyDeleteMy crockpot has a pot covered with Tephlon, and I love it! I also love MCCormick seasonings (we use them for all of our meat marinades), so I will check that out!
Love the quote. I've recently applied it to travel--What are we waiting for?! :)
Have a great weekend!
I have the most fun reading your Daybook, CiCi, I am enjoying getting to know you. I use my crock pot quite often but haven't tried the liners , now will try them. Love the quote, and like you enjoy wearing something comfy after dinner, as well as reading blogs. I too admit to slacking up on book reading, and have plans to remedy that, that is If I can get off this computer. ~smile~
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.

Lea, I enjoy your Simple Woman's Daybook responses. Thanks for the reminder about the crock pot liner bags. Would you believe that 99% of the time, I forget I have a box of them in the pantry and so they don't get used?!!! Old habits die hard, I guess. Your son looks a lot like my two sons, and they are all about the same age. Boys and their cars! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteOh I love roast in the crock pot! Your son's car is a beauty! Have a beautiful week!
