It's Monday, Valentine's Eve, so if you don't have your honey a "happy" you still have one more day to get it. And, if you can't think of anything, just go to Pinterest, there you will find some of the all time cutest ideas and lots are very inexpensive.
Finger-licking good.......
The Princess spent the day with me this past Friday and we had a fun time in the kitchen. I had made cupcakes for her to help me decorate. Can I just say that she had the best time. I sat her on my island, and let her go to work. She loves shaking the sprinkles on the icing. I mean we had sprinkles everywhere. It's a good thing that I put down a huge cookie sheet for us to work on. That caught most of the sprinkles. Our finished product looked like this.
But, the best part was that the Princess made memories with her CiCi. ~aweeeeeeee~
It's past time........
We have not seen our little man since Jan 1st and we are having withdrawal pains. I mean, who wouldn't miss this sweet face? But, it won't be much longer! Hubby and I will be leaving on March 9th to meet he and his Momma in Oklahoma City for a 3 - 4 day visit. If I can calculate right, that's only about 24 more days. We can't wait! I'm not sure we'd survive with FaceTime. Oh, the joys of modern technology!
Tried my hand..........
Tried my hand..........
I have been wanting to try my hand at making cake balls ever since they first came out or became popular. So, this weekend I did just that. I decided that they would make a nice "Valentine Happy" for some folks. I used a boxed Strawberry Cake Mix and made it according to package directions and baked it in two 9" pans. When it was warm to the touch I dumped both pans in a mixing bowl, crumbled them up and then added a can of the premade Strawberry Frosting (I microwaved it 15 seconds) and mixed it all together. I then took a round scoop and made balls, placed them on a lined cookie sheet, put a sucker stick in them and placed them in the freezer for a few hours. Later I melted white chocolate in the microwave and dipped each one in it, placed them on the stick in a piece of styrofoam to let them dry (sorry I didn't picture that) and then removed them from the stick, placed them on a clear tray and squirted a cute little dot of red icing in the middle of each one. I thought they turned out just as cute as could be and very Valentiney looking. ~grin~ And, even Hubby said they were d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! *Added note the recipe said to dip them using a toothpick but let me tell you, that doesn't work, or at least it didn't for me. The sucker sticks placed in there before they are put in the freezer is a much stronger way to hold them while dipping them. Just saying.............
yum to the cakeballs! your little guy has the same shirt as hunter... cute! i bet you miss him. hopefully that can be remedied soon? i'm glad you were able to enjoy your princess!
ReplyDeleteThese look so cute, and yummy. Perfect for a kids party. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteI tried making cakeballs also last night. I tried the toothpick thing and it didn't work for me either. I just drizzled the choc. on my cake balls. Not has pretty though.
ReplyDeleteThis post was a godsend for inspiration. I now know what to make for my youngest's bday party tomorrow at school! Football cake balls! I made regular ones this summer for the first time and they were a huge hit with campers. Thanks, Lea! I feel so relieved to have this figured out!
ReplyDeletethose cakeballs look so so yum! check out the littles they are so cute! love how she spent time with her cici baking cupcakes! Kelcee loves baking too so fun and it will build memories to last a life time! I am addicted to Pinterest too! I found the cutest ideas on there for Kelcee's V-Day party at school tommorrow! what a cute post!!
ReplyDeleteThose cakeballs look gorgeous. DH and I have reached the stage where we don't do anything very special for Valentine's Day ... we don't need a special day to show our love for each other. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun spending time in the kitchen with the grands. I got a last minute phone call this morning asking if I wanted to watch T#4. Otherwise, I would have had the makings for some cupcakes that we could have made together (been hungry for cupcakes lately). She's only two, but I'm sure that she can help with the sprinkles, if nothing else.
24 days ... I'll bet you can NOT wait!
Looks like you and the Princess had a fun time! How exciting to be going to Oklahoma City to see your little man. Have the best of times.
ReplyDeleteThe cake pops look wonderful. I bought my daughter the cookbook for Christmas. I am going to Florida on the 7th to have some face time with my Dad who is 88!
I have sweet memories of cooking with my grandma and my mother both. Your little ones are lucky! Your cake balls look yummy!
